We wanted to try something different from our usual so we ended up at Torero's and wow.. The Cary location is incredibly spacious and I love the theme and atmosphere they've created. It's fun, vibrant, and really adds to the dining experience. Our server was phenomenal. He gave us amazing recommendations and we decided to order the two dishes he suggested. We were blown away by how good everything tasted. The flavors, the presentation, the portion sizes, everything exceeded our expectations. I'm already looking forward to coming back.

Chicken enchiladas mole.

I didn't know there was a Torero's in this neck of the woods! I used to go to one in Durham about 20 yrs ago that had fantastic mole sauce. I was happy to see it on the menu here. The place was hopping since it was lunch and it has the typical decor that so many Mexican restaurants around here have. I ordered the grande lunch size which is two enchiladas with the chicken filling. I was really looking forward to tasting that mole sauce that I remember from way back when. Meanwhile I was enjoying their salsa and chips. In fact, I'd give them 5 stars just for the salsa! My entree arrived and the plate was screaming hot so I had to hold off a bit. Finally I was ready to dig in and sadly the mole didn't has that same flavor as I remember and the color wasn't as dark either. It was kind of bland. The shredded chicken was a bit on the dry side and didn't have any grilled onions and and peppers inside as I remembered either. I Really tried to like it and make my taste buds think it was as I remembered, having had it so many times before way back when, but sadly it didn't. What a let down. Don't get me wrong, it was ok, just not as good as it used to be. My waiter was super nice and attentive as he could be given how busy they were. If I were around this area of Cary again I might stop in again and try something else on the menu rather than the mole.

We are so glad we found this restaurant! This is our 4th dinner here and it was SOOO GOOD! Absolutely worth the drive from Raleigh.

Ask for Jonathon and don't forget the Queso. Nestled in a plaza in Cary this spot will make you a lover of all things Mexican. I branched out to a new dish and I'd do it again!

My friend brought me here for dinner since I wanted something delicious: let me tell you I wasn't disappointed. The decor of the restaurant and clientele informed me that the flavors are not what I should expect of stereotypical Cary Mexican restaurant. We decided to skip the fajitas, even though the sizzling and smells tempted us and thought to go big. We ordered the the braised Lamb and Birria tacos: I'm still following that trend. Even though the Tacos didn't advertised with cheese, the server suggested it and I knew it was to be. Both were absolutely fantastic! One was a slab of lamb flesh, juicy off the bone goodness. A rich red sauce and my friend was an excellent in choosing the Chile poblano to accompany. The other being 3 tacos with a decadent Mexican au jus. The tortillas were struggling to carry the succulent meaty goodness. The server was a super nice and polite guy, sorry I forgot your name! He was very attentive after we got seated and team followed up with chips and salsa. Great service by the staff!

Burrito Relleno. Super delicious and satisfying. Will definitely be back for it!

Stopped by for a quick lunch. Got seated right away. Service was excellent. Super friendly and efficient. Had two people took care of me. One brought chips and salsa. One took my order. They was on top of refills of my Melon Agua Fresca which I appreciate. The Melon (cantaloupe flavor) Agua Fresca was super delicious and refreshing! For my meal o got the Burrito rellano. It was sooooo good. I haven't had one since I lived in California. Definitely recommend! I'll be back for it again. Yum the atmosphere of the restaurant is great! It's also a half sports bar. It'll be nice to go back during a game and check em out!

Everything from the poppers, to nachos to fajitas was really good! Went here for dinner one night and they have an extensive menu, everything we ordered off the menu was great Great portion sizes, prices were reasonable too. This place was recommended by so many and I'm happy to say it didn't disappoint. I will definitely be back again!!'

Tacos de Birria

An incredible place for Mexican food. What can I say, the chips were perfectly crispy and salted. The salsa was immaculate. And the birria tacos were made incredibly. The consume was to die for. A great place for Mexican food in Raleigh

This is probably the best Mexican restaurant in the area. They always have a really good dinner special, and usually have at least one kind of beer on special for less than $3. The food plates are humongous! And everything always comes out hot and fresh. Definitely give this place a try if you're craving mexican!

I usually rotate between the tacos, enchiladas, and molcajetes, and while the tacos themselves are just okay, the overall experience is solid. The fresh chips are easily some of the best I've had at a Mexican restaurant (warm and crisp). Add queso to those chips and it really seals the deal. They more than make up for the tacos being a bit underwhelming and are honestly reason enough to come back. This is a great neighborhood spot if you're looking for authentic flavors, generous portions, and excellent chips and dips (biggest downside is no liquor aka no margaritas). Not every dish is a knockout, but the highlights keep it comfortably in 4-star territory.

I was really one mayonnaise filled torta away from missing out on my favorite Mexican restaurant of Cary. The food is some of the freshest and most authentic in the area, and is consistently spot on. Forget heavy burritos or overly sauced enchiladas, this place is the real deal. When you come to Esmeralda Grill, you should really focus on the meat heavy dishes, whether it be via land or sea. There are so many different options to choose from, from both categories. When thinking seafood, expect the full fish. If you find yourself with the fresh grilled tilapia, you will receive a delicious whole fish that tastes as if it was caught that morning. It is such a fantastic option. I also appreciate the camarones a la diabla, or Diablo shrimp. The shrimp are plump and juicy, the spice of the dish is excites your taste buds and is a great dish. My favorite entrees are the land meat dishes though. El Trio Perfecto is my go-to order, it is grilled steak, chicken and pork all on one plate with rice, beans, salad, and tortillas. The Mexican spice rub on the meats is absolutely mouth watering, the flavors are so bold and tasty. The meats are all cooked to perfection and the portions are gigantic. You can make different tacos with the various meats, it is seriously one of my favorite Mexican dishes. I would highly recommend this! Additionally, Esmeralda Grill has so many other wonderful dishes for different flavor profiles. My grandparents are pretty particular about empanadas, but simply cannot get enough of Esmeralda's version. They also make some killer tacos, and some very affordable ones if you were to come on Tuesday! The moral of the story? Don't base your opinion of a restaurant after a single visit. You don't come across a fantastic hole in the wall every day, Esmeralda Grill is one that every Mexican food lover should know!

While the food is on the pricey end, the portion sizes make up for it and the quality is there. On my first visit, I tried their Tres Amigos dish. It is basically a mix grill with shrimp, steak and chicken. It came with rice, beans, and veggies. The meats were super flavorful and the rice and beans were actually great! I hate it when a Mexican place just dumps overcooked rice and goopy beans and calls it a day. The veggies were very clearly frozen and came from a bag, wasn't all that excited by that. I think arroz con pollo (ACP) is one of the simplest, yet, most delicious Mexican dishes. It is chicken, cheese and rice, how can you mess that up? Mamacita does their ACP justice. The chicken is tender, there is a nice balance between the cheese and rice, and it is just a great combination altogether. They also do a decent job with their birria tacos (although wasn't the biggest fan of the consume) and their churrasco plate. They even top it with a legit salad, not just the chopped lettuce and tomato. In the end, I am always full and satisfied with the meal. I certainly think this is worth a visit. Oh, I forgot to mention everyone's favorite thing about the place, they have a robot server! Definitely very cute.
