I go to this place for the first time looking for a decent bakery. I bought 4 pounds of cookies, which were pretty good. I also bought a few rolls and a couple of pieces of Borracho, which were also good. Then I asked for a Pineapple Upside down cake that was in the case. All total it came to about $70,00. This was on Friday morning, June 19th. I came home, put the cake and the cookies in the refrigerator because I was going to take it to my brother's house the next day. The next day Saturday the 20th, I took a box of the cookies and the Pineapple cake to my brothers. I took the cake out of the box. Not only was it stale, but when my sister-in-law cut the cake, underside was covered in BLACK MOLD! Imagine my embarrassment for bringing stale moldy cake to give to brother and his family! I was thinking about going back with the cake and asking for a refund. But for the $10.00 I paid for it, it's not worth the aggravation. But that's the first and last time I go to Torino's. Apparently, they'll leave shit in the case to go stale and moldy and sell it to some sucker who walks into the place and buys it. That's no way to do business and maybe the health department should take a look at what's going on at Torino's bakery. read more

I accidentally noticed Torino's while leaving the Motorcycle Museum (which is also great). Needless to say I was a bit shocked seeing an old school Italian bakery in this area. I sampled a number of things including a chocolate horn, apple pocket, chocolate eclair and a sfogiatella. Everything was very very good. They have a great selection and everything was fresh. Torino bakery is a hidden gem. I encourage everyone to go there. read more

I've been visiting this Newburgh institution probably for the last 5 years.one of the best things I can say about them other than top-notch cannolis and baked goods is the consistency. Their service is top-notch and if you're in a rush call ahead of time and they'll get everything squared away for you. What to say about this place. Looks like they did a remodel and the space is more efficiently utilized than before. Their bread assortment is great and their bread is very good for this area. Does it compare to some of the Arthur Avenue breads no but it's close. I would say within 3% while that may not seem like much to some it is for me. I want an insanely good piece of Italian bread, the cut the roof of your mouth style bread. The kind that grandma made. To get that extra percentage you need coal or wood ovens slopped with high moisture. Is this bread something I would buy. Absolutely. But if I'm making an Italian roast beef that I roast for 14 hours on slow creating the proper flavor profiles then I need to have the bread to match the meal. I've been using Torino Bakery for decades now for special occasions. They do a marvelous job with cakes that far surpass the decorating and taste senses. The latest cake was for Mom's 100th birthday: a delectable vanilla rum cake with one tier of strawberry filling and one with chocolate custard filling, and whipped cream topping garnished on the sides with slivered almonds. It was colorfully decorated with balloons and the birthday wish. Everyone loved it. Thank you Torino staff for "topping" off her special day! read more

Bought two cakes for my twins. Very specific, I have a boy and a girl. We go to pick up the cakes, I am given two pink cakes. No apologies. The person who baked and decorated could care less. He had a " whatever" attitude. And they definitely are not the top 10 in taste. I will pass next birthday. I had a 14 year old boy with a pink cake at his party. SMH. Shameful. Torino's bakery is one of the best bakery around. I have been getting cakes and deserts from them for over 20 years. Even our wedding cake was made by them. I highly recommend the cannoli fillings for their cakes. My favorite pastry is the crumb cake with a dollop of sweet cream cheese filling and a cappuccino . The hot chocolate with wiped cream is fantastic as well. Definitely worth a visit. Parking is always tricky on Broadway in Newburgh. Park on the side street or in the Chinese restaurant and walk over if you can. read more

I have been getting all of my cakes from Torino for 35 years. The cakes are always fresh and taste great! Picky and demanding in-laws from The Bronx even love the product and if it makes them happy, it has to be good. Try a Napoleon birthday (occasion) cake or the 'traditional' Italian cake with whipped cream and shaved almonds on the side....uuuummmmm good!! Good round bread. I also buy my pizza dough in bulk at Torino, usually ten pounds at a time. I take it home, freeze it and when I need it it's there, just as fresh as when I bought it and after thawing out, will still rise. Oh! How could I forget the biscotti?! The almond is the best! Torino's doesn't stack up to the great NYC pastry shops, but its the best in the area. They do several things that piss me off. For one, their cannoli uses a cream based filling instead of the traditional ricotta. This results in a filling thats less thick, more sugary, and which simply doesn't taste as good. Their rainbow cookies use an odd jelly between layers whose flavor I cannot place, but is not the traditional raspberry or apricot; in addition, they use too much chocolate on both sides, which along with the jelly overpowers the otherwise good cookie. Their regular assorted cookies are ok, the batter they use isn't bad but once again is a bit sugary for my taste. Overall its not a bad bakery by any means, but they defer from tradition a lot and it doesn't end up helping the product. If you have to stay local go here, but otherwise get your stuff from the city, NJ or Westchester. read more

Just left there about 10 minutes ago. While the baked goods are yummy, the customer service is not. The young girls that work there do not welcome you or smile. No greeting when you walk in, and we stood there waiting for assistance not too long with one family ahead of us, but another customer walked in and they helped her right away. Finally the girl asked my husband and I what we need and I said a few things. She stood there staring, then says what size box. I said again we were getting a few things. She asks how many exactly, she needed to know because she had to pick the right size box. Really? So we actually counted how many things we wanted. She walks over sulking with a normal sized box you would get at any bakery. Box full. Payment time. She rings us up, and doesn't say a word. Ok, I looked at the total and handed her my credit card. She gives it back. No thank you, no smile, nothing. Miserable little girl. These young women need lessons in courtesy and how to treat customers. Just for that I'll never go there again. read more

I have been here many times over the years and never thought to review it. This is an authentic Italian bakery with a frequently changing variety of fresh baked goods. Their canolis are some of the best that I've ever had...and they even have a variety of canolis, including chocolate. Their cookies are always fresh and they have a large assortment of cookie ideas that you would have a difficult time finding anywhere else. They have an assortment of all different fresh-baked breads (if you go on a Sunday, get there before they sell out). They even have breakfast pastries, great to pick up on the way into work.
