A few breweries have come and go in the Crossroads, so I am glad that Torn Label is still around. Their beers are still good, and Monk & Honey is still one of my favorites of their beers. The taproom has greatly improved over the years. The insulation seems better now. There is an outdoor patio space. Best of all, they serve food. I was here on a Thursday night in December before closing time. The place was well-decorated for the holidays. Latin music was jamming - perhaps they should do a dance party one of these days. The staff was chill. I enjoyed a flight and some tacos and then went on my merry way. Now that the taproom is a much more inviting space, I will have to come back more often. read more

I have been to Torn Label a few times and love it. Monk and Honey is one of my favorite beers in KC. Tacos Valentina, and attached restaurant, can be ordered at the bar and I really enjoy the beer and tacos combo. I have never been in during a busy time so there has always been plenty of seating and staff have been quick to take orders and give great recommendations. Brewery that has a kitchen! I was a little bummed that they didn't have any fish in stock, but there were still plenty of options. I ordered 3 street tacos, Carne Asada, Barbacoa and the Pollo. The Carne Asada was a little tough, but the rest were good. The spicy sauce (not sure what it was, no label with it) they have in the back definitely was needed and it was great after adding the flavor in. Beers were good, but I do wish they would have a Hazy IPA available. Solid spot to hang out and grab a bite to eat with a large space to accommodate multiple party sizes. read more

My husband has been telling me about Torn Label Brewing, and I finally got to check it out for lunch. I'm so glad I did! The atmosphere is exactly what I was hoping for: a truly chill and welcoming space to hang out in and the service was great! It's so laid-back and not at all what you might expect from a brewery. een a while since I did a Yelp event... and a while since I was trying new micro brews. This staff was amazing and was extremely helpful not only in what they had for beer which was 5 flagship beers and 8 seasonal beers, but also the layout of the place, top things on the menu and so on. They have some fantastic beer. Of course, beer is subjective and I tend to like dark and smoky but my friend who is recently into IPAs also liked his beer so that tells me they are doing well across the board. Taco Valentina is the kitchen that produced the tacos. These were killer! So many great taco flavours. If I had to say a downside... it was parking for the size of the event we were having there. Finding the brewery was a little of a challenge since there is no street signage, but for a paper sign on the door. Great space with garage doors for summertime air. Was a little cold sitting by the doors on a cold night, so had to move tables. Enjoyed the beer with diverse flavor options. Love you can start a tab for beer which also allows food purchase at the same time. Staff offered great suggestions and were excited to share their specials and events at the brewery to look forward to. Wish the ordering and payment areas were separate because the servers take so much time to share their product. Created a line with a long wait, on a busy Friday night. Food was amazing, best tacos I've had in KC. Definitely enhanced the enjoyment of the beer. On First Fridays they have a special on 3 mix/match tacos and special taco take outs on Chief game days. Came here on Father's day and all drafts were $5 so that is a great deal. We didn't eat but the food looked great so would definitely be tempted to go back and try food next time. The neighborhood is a little sketchy, quite far from the crossroads area. Not sure how safe I would feel after dark. Bartenders were very nice and accommodating. read more

We LOVE torn label beer selection is amazing and the food is so good. The inside is super cute with lots of natural light and plants everywhere. We also rented the space out for our casual wedding reception for about 70 people back in March and it was perfect. From start to finish the staff was super helpful, accommodating, and CHILL. We got tons of compliments on the food and drink selections that day as well! I love the wide open layout, bright inviting colors and the wall of windows that provides a blast of natural light during the daytime. A re-visit to Torn Label was on my list for a really long time. It had been on the list since they opened the Public House and started offering food, and I feel like that's been around a long time so I was way overdue for a visit. The beers are always good. I started with a New England IPA called Memory Foam. Later I ordered a Belgian Quad that was also very tasty, but you have to be a person that enjoys Belgian styles for that (or you're the person picking the highest ABV beers on the menu). The food was outstanding and the fries made me feel like I was back in Belgium. It was hard to choose from the sauce options for the fries. We went with the house aoli and the curry ketchup. Those sauces were really what made the fries so memorable. The Tacos Valentina quesadilla was delicous. My wife had a grilled cheese that looked good, and she gave it a positive review. My rating here is for the food, as I rate beers on ratebeer.com I wasn't too impressed with the downtown KC beer scene; the better breweries are outside the area (KC Bier, Boulevard, Alma Mader). Nevertheless, I tried this place out, hoping to get some dinner too. I saw that they had a couple vegan options, so I tried those out. I got the celeriac sandwich ($11) and added a side portion of the squash salad ($3.50). The salad comes with "roasted delicata and acorn squash, pickled sweet onion, herbaceous and spicy green harissa, and nutty, spiced cashew dukkah", a very creatie dish. Spicy, herbal, and complex flavours. Real nice stuff. 4.5/5 The sandwich was also very creative, coming with crisp celeriac, purple beets, and vegan mayo. Crunchy and hearty. Torn Label is a destination brewery. Meaning that is worthy of being the focal point of any brewery tour that you are on and you better know where you are going because you will never just wander by and decide to stop in. TL is a hidden gem in the middle of the block in the east Crossroads in the back of a nondescript industrial building with very limited signage. Ironically, my awareness of TL came from drinking beer at Sea Dog Brewery in Treasure Island, FL while watching the Chiefs. The gentleman that sat down next to me and mutually rooted for the Chiefs was an owner of TL on vacation also. I was embarrassed to tell him that his brewery was about the only one in KC that I hadn't visited. This past weekend and prior to any Covid-19 shutdowns, I ventured in and had one of the best experiences ever. I sampled quite a few beers over a multi-hour stay. Every time I thought about Ubering home, I became engaged in great conversation with my next newest, bestest, ride or die friends. Isn't it funny what a few pints can do for socialization! The standouts for me were the Dubbel Dubbel Toil and Trouble, The Mansion Brew and Monk and Honey. All rich and complex and damn tasty. The tasting room is fairly small, but that only adds to the opportunity to meet your next best friend, and speaking of best friends; dogs are welcome and several were in attendance.
