Alma is one of the best breweries in KC. Everything they make is good. Seriously. The taproom isn't the largest and it can get crowded. But they have a two indoor spaces and a patio outside so it's never a huge issue. They do allow dogs in the taproom. I love all the plants. And everyone is always super nice. All of their beer is good. They have great IPA's and Stouts. Those are probably my favorites. But they also have lagers and pale ales. They don't really do sours. They do have a pretty good cider on tap. And I think they have wine if you're not into beer. And for the Summer of 2025, they are featuring a different cocktail slushy every weekend. I had a prickly pear margarita on my most recent visit and it was really good. Perfect on the patio. I highly recommend Alma and always encourage people to visit it.

What impresses me most about Alma Mader is how well they've perfected a plethora of brew styles - from amazing barrel aged ales to outstanding lager beers. If you're lucky enough to visit the brewery for a special release that's awesome. It's also a great spot to visit anytime though too. There is always good beer on tap and cans to go. This is where I take friends from out of town who want to visit a good KC brewery. The beer's the main reason, but it's also a cool place to hang out. They have a great patio.

In the shadow of that massive, touristy, mediocre brewery...the biggest in Kansas City exists Alma Mader. A small brewery in a dusty industrial/warehouse location...like how breweries used to be, before they got trendy. I found out about them while talking to the taptender at Strange Days Brewing on the north side of town. I told him I liked hoppy lagers and...rather than look at me like I said I enjoy frosty fires, as your average brewery employee so often does...he knew EXACTLY what I was talking about! He told me they had a Cold IPA on tap next week. When I told him I'd be gone next week, he told me to go to two breweries: BKS Artisan Ales Alma Mader Brewing Alma Mader specializes in soft and hopppy hazy/New England IPAs but also in crisp, clear lagers. As I stated above: it's the lagers that brought me here. They had a dry hopped pilsner and a more traditional Czech pilsner and...both were incredible. This place also serves all its beer in beautiful custom glassware. The space is industrial-modern with high ceilings and wood, but a pretty cozy floorplan. The have lots of cans for purchase, and I definitely grabbed one of that dry-hopped lager. (you can also buy them as singles) Skip Boulevard, come here instead!

Stopped into Alma Mader last night for an event with friends at Abortion Action Missouri and it was great! I only had one beer and it was good. My friends enjoyed the beer and cider they had as well. The bartender was super nice and I heard some good things about the business in general from other people. I really enjoyed the relaxing vibes of the brewery and it was decorated nicely.

I don't make it KC,MO as much as I should. I have good friends there and last time I was there we went to several craft breweries. A lot has changed since then and some of those breweries are no longer open and a whole bunch of new ones have opened since then. Alma Mader seems to be one of the new ones or one that possibly escaped my attention when I was there last. For this brewery I had their Czech Lager the Premiant. Unfortunately I felt it was just fair. I thought it was kind of bland in flavor and didn't have that biscuity flavor in these types of beers that I so admire. Perhaps exploring their other beer styles would be a good idea to see if I would have liked something better but I heavily lean towards lagers these days so I'm not sure...

Slow pour - takes 5 minutes, but hubby says it's worth it!

Hubby voted it as really good beer. Atmosphere is a little like a really nice airy office space, but if the beer is good, that's what matters most. You can always add a little more story to your space as you grow. They do have an outdoor patio space, but without any shade, on a 100 degree day, it's not going to get used much.

This was our first time at Alma Mader Brewing. I had the Look West Cider and really enjoyed it. I love ciders and sours and would come back again for this cider. There is plenty of space and a lot of seating. While it was busy, we did not have trouble finding a spot to sit. We will definitely return!

Stopped by Alma Mader for a few drinks early on Super Bowl Sunday. They were pretty dead when we got there around 1, but were pretty busy when we left. They don't do flights, but do half pours. I had the stout on tap, and it was delicious. My husband had a hazy ipa and a slow pour of the premiant. I loved the foam on top of the slow pour. I'd definitely stop back by if in the area.

One of my favorite breweries to visit as they always provide high quality service and high quality brews. Everything is crafted with diligence and delicacy. They work hard to match the styles and profiles that they make. Their lagers are crispy and light while their IPAs really put on the hops for ample flavor. They are working on their barrel aged stouts and they have been well balanced. It's cool to see they are doing collaborations as well. The space has been coming together over the years with a larger space inside with the mural and their new patio decor, lights, and speakers. If you haven't stopped by, it won't disappoint

Definitely a hidden gem! We stumbled upon this one night and are happy we stopped in! There's ample outdoor seating (in a private area, albeit a parking lot). We didn't spend much time inside but there were a few tables in there too. Good vibes and perfect for a casual drink. The menu was IPA heavy, but they had a few other options too.

What a great new spot! We went in to check out this new craft brewery and were happy to find another gem. Not only is the space clean, open, bright, with a fun industrial look, the beer is top notch. Per usual, the Tamper (coffee porter using local Messenger coffee) was my favorite. Their Conjunction Kolsch was a close second and was a perfect summer sipper. We also tried both IPAS and they were delicious if that's your thing, I am not partial to them myself, but I know fans of IPAS will love them. The owner and bartender were so friendly and we really enjoyed our experience. I can't wait to see what other great things come from this place. Go check it out!

I made Alma Mader my 1st stop of a small self directed brewery crawl with a buddy this past Saturday night. The place was packed, which is a good sign. There is no food served and the atmosphere is pretty sterile, so the beer is the only reason to visit. I had an Imperial Stout with Coffee at 11% ABV - dark, thick, pungent and potent. Just how a first beer of the evening should be. Excellent. My buddy had a pale ale that he was quite pleased with. After only one delicious drink we decided to leave. I would have loved to stay for another beer, but 2 factors determined our early exit and why I can't give 5 stars. The level of noise and brightness. A packed house with no acoustics made for an unbearable decibel level for me. I don't understand why there are so many florescent lights burning on high either. It was lit up like a surgical room. I asked my waitress if they rented sunglasses, and her response was "What? I didn't hear you." Exactly! Great beer, friendly staff behind the bar but not a comforting environment. Even with that said, I'll be back...with shades and ear plugs. I can't guarantee how long I'll stay, but the beer was worth a return visit.

During my recent visits, I repeatedly observed behavior from one of the bartenders that made the environment feel uncomfortable and unprofessional. This man has frequently crossed personal boundaries and generally came across as someone who was more interested in making female patrons uncomfortable than providing good service. Instead of feeling like a place where everyone could relax, the atmosphere felt like a boys' club where inappropriate behavior was tolerated. The biggest disappointment wasn't just the employee's conduct--it was the lack of action or acknowledgement by management that concerns are taken seriously. Instead of addressing complaints, they move to suppress reviews. When an establishment allows and enables behavior that makes customers feel uncomfortable or unsafe, it reflects on the business as a whole. I used to recommend Border Brewing without hesitation, but I can't anymore. There are plenty of breweries in Kansas City where everyone can enjoy themselves without worrying about being subjected to inappropriate comments or an unwelcoming atmosphere.
