It's standard bar food, but prepared fresh. The menu is pretty extensive, something to suit every taste, and they'll tweak something if you prefer. I have literally been around the world three times and lived in many states and several countries. I had been working in Cedar Rapids for the past several months and one of my work partners told me to go eat lunch with him there. My favorite all-time hamburger is a Swiss and mushroom burger so that's what I ordered and I was blown away! The gravy is on point! I could not believe how delicious this burger was, and along with the crinkle cut fries to dip them in the gravy...It was quite an experience. It takes a lot to impress me with a hamburger and Tornado's went over and above my expectations. I wish I had had more opportunity to sample some of their other food offerings but if I am ever back in Cedar Rapids I will go out of my way to make a trip there. Five out of five stars. read more

It has been years since I have been here last and when a buddy suggested we stop all I could remember was the 4x8 sheets of plywood that made up the walls of the bathroom. WOW was I surprised this place is now a real nice place. don't let the outside and neighborhood fool you, this inside is quite nice. Friendly helpful staff, clean and plenty of seating and games. The food was pretty good as well. I had some kind of Gravy burger that was done just right and the fries were really good. I would recommend this to anyone for a try. The food here is SO GOOD! I love the fries and how well made and seasoned they are. All the other good is great as well but the fries especially stand out. The staff is kind and funny although the speed of the service is fairly slow. The restaurant is usually pretty loud so I tend to carry out to avoid that but the food makes up for it. read more

This will be the second time, I have eaten at Tornados in Cedar Rapids. Cool bar on the south side of downtown. I ordered the F3 blue burger with buffalo sauce and sauteed onions added. This along with the blue cheese and mushrooms makes for a taste burger. The bar staff is friendly and the service is prompt. I have not been here in a long while. I decided to get an F5 burger which was 1/2lb bacon cheeseburger with fries and i have to say, the burger was cooked perfectly and the seasoned fries were amazing. The waiter was so nice and patient with us. I would recommend this place if you want a good burger for a fair price. read more

Just went this afternoon with my daughter after a stop at Kirkwood. We were greeted immediately with a smile from Ethan our waiter. He was great and Full of energy. I got the crazy burger which was so good, perfect combo of sour, sweet and spicy. My side salad also was good-fresh crisp lettuce. Great burgers & fries but staff are not wearing masks. Condiments, silverware & loose napkins are on table so they're not wiped down or kept sanitary between customers. Sorry, they have a responsibility yo keep customers safe during a pandemic but they're not. They're taking the easy way out. I won't continue to give them my $ support or tip. Wow! I was blown away by this place. The food was great but the service was even better. It has a very comforting decor and the music selection was fantastic for 3 pm. We had a large group and we were seated right away even though it was busy. A definite gem in a large urban area. read more

Great spot for lunch!! Burgers, sandwiches and the ribs are amazing!! Some of the best we have had!! Wish they had more variety for salads tho! Service has been great! Friendly fast and attentive. I walked in just looking for a quick bite. The environment was very welcoming, and settling. The first thing I did was go use the restroom because I really had to pee. While doing my business, noticed Biggie Smalls was playing. After noticing that I payed more attention to the music they played, and they played a huge variety making the environment even more welcoming. I make my way to a seat and I got service right away. The employees were very friendly, so all that's left now is the food. I ordered a buffalo chicken hoagie (I can't remember the name, sorry) and it was good. The chicken and the sauce were flavored to greatness. I failed to mention that there was bacon on this too, adding more flavor and texture making this sandwich amazing. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to get some good food, or just relax and have a good bite. I for sure am going again. read more

Food was yummy and resonably priced. I had the French Dip and my husband had the F5. The waitress even went above and beyond and made chocolate milk for my 4 year old even though it isn't on the menu. The atmosphere was very relaxed and it wasn't very busy. Food came out in the time frame I expected considering there was only one waitress who was taking care of all the customers. The music was a little loud considering that it was 11 am on a Wednesday and only about a dozen customers. Their side salad is very basic (lettuce, cheese and tomatoes) but the lettuce was fresh and the ranch is homemade so it was pretty yummy. One of my favorite spots in CR. Family owned and operated which is awesome because Tom Sr. Doesn't put up with bs. I'm not sure about the entire menu because I only get the burgers but they're awesome. Personally I think the F4 hot is the best burger in town, then you get a side of gravy for the fries and it takes it over the top. It looked like kind of a little hole in the wall joint, but once inside there was a lot of atmosphere! Plenty of TV'S if you wanted to watch any sports, tho tonite they had a variety of things on, both sports and shows. They have a nice variety of beers on tap, and food was really good! Highly recommend the broccoli bites! Service was good, reminded me of the show "Cheers!" because there were quite a few 'regulars' who came in that our server called by name! There is a plaque on the wall that shows where the flood of 2008 topped out at, it was a foot or so below the ceiling! Really glad to see them come back after that! A sleepy dive at mid-day on a Saturday that serves burgers with various toppings named F1 through F5 (for tornadoes, right?). We were not brave enough to try the F5 wet which comes with *all* the toppings available. The burger we ordered was ok but a bit overcooked. The pork tenderloin had visible pork, always a good thing, but was fried too long. The reuben came on thick, dry marbled rye bread, needed the thousand island dressing that came on the side. Well, the food is pretty good here, but we just had a bad experience with the owner. One of our party ordered chips and Salsa, not knowing that they were flour and not corn tortillas, which she can't eat because gluten. We didn't ask for them to be comp'ed but the owner offered to anyway, and then got very angry and accused us of always returning food. We have eaten here maybe 10 times before and never returned food. And we never even met this guy before. Not sure what we did to piss this guy off so bad, but we are definitely not coming back. read more

It did hit the spot, not gonna lie it wasn't toxic and as far as bar burgers go you won't be disappointed with these, but the crowd is a bit country so don't expect enlightened conversation from across the bar. While the environment seems to have improved slightly, certain members of staff are incredibly rude. A bartender named Ethan went out of his way to be discourteous to my friend and I while having a drink. He was not the one taking care of us and I'm not sure if he thought he was flirting but being so disrespectful is not a way to treat anyone. read more
