On a recent visit to Cabo I had the pleasure of dining at TORO LATIN KITCHEN.... I had no real expectations going in but the second I walked through the open archway and saw the central bar, open kitchen and welcoming staff I felt I was home ! This place is relaxing , welcoming & has a mature hip vibe. The short rib taco was perfectly proportioned and carried just the right amount of heat to offset the tender protein. My dining companion enjoyed the fresh catch which was beautifully presented and tender , flaky and melt in your mouth delicious. The steak could not have been tastier - and equally beautiful presentation. My recommendation is that life is truly short so order dessert here first ! Wow! One of the best places I have eaten at while in Cabo. The food never disappoints. We started with the beef tacos and octopus app. The empanadas were my least favorite thing but everyone else with us loved them. The sea bass entry was amazing. The Spivey shrimp rocked as well. This may be my favorite restaurant in all of Cabo. The atmosphere is so cool and upbeat music to really make it fun. The service is impeccable and food is unbelievable. We weren't especially hungry and we ended up getting some sushi rolls, the short rib tacos, and a shrimp Caesar salad to share with the table. All DELICIOUS but the sushi was our absolute favorite. I love Toro Latin kitchen atmosphere and the food is fantastic! I have been to their place in Denver too located in the JWMarriot and it's wonderful. However after my second visit I must say the only downside here in Cabo is that I find their cocktail menu a little over the top, trying to be extra creative and they all taste like they like they no alcohol in them at all. I don't need a heavy pour but I don't want to feel like I'm drinking a virgin martini! But Toro is definitely worth a try and should not be missed when in Cabo. read more

My bf and I were looking for a nice restaurant to celebrate his Birthday and we decided to try this place. We didn't have reservations so we had to sit at the bar. I would recommend to call before and reserve. However, food was amazing and so was the service. I ordered shrimp and crab enchiladas and they did not disappoint they were cooked to perfection! I love spicy food and I had them bring me a spicy sauce to go along since the enchiladas weren't as spicy as I would have liked. My bf had a steak and mentioned it was also very good. Our waiter clarified with us several times that there would be no nuts in anything brought to our table because my sister has a severe allergy. The first thing they brought out was a bread basket, which he assured us only had seeds and no nuts. However, the chef had put peanuts in the bread, causing my sister to have a major allergic reaction. We had to leave immediately for her to seek medical attention. The communication breakdown between the kitchen and waitstaff was negligent and dangerous. Totally unacceptable. read more

I came to Toro at the recommendation of my mother. When we arrived i was surprised that the restaurant is along the highway about a mile from the ocean. We could see the ocean from our table but it was miles away. That being said, the architecture is completely unique and the branding and design experience of Toro is excellent. There is a modern deco desert chic vibe and it is luxurious. I ordered the Carne Asada- and it was wonderful. The marinade and flavor in the carne asada was truly exquisite. The presentation was pleasing to the eye, and the portions were just right. I ordered the grilled vegetables as a side- and the mesquite grill flavor kissed the vegetables just enough; they were delicious. For desert we had the churros and the Xocolatl; the churros were as good as the finest in Mexico City- filled with dulce de leche and served with sweetened condensed milk cream on the side. The Xocolatl was a dark chocolate lover's dream and we enjoyed every bite. The seating was okay; there were many flies all around us and that, in addition to the location by the side of the highway are the reason for the four stars instead of five. The food was absolutely amazing. I got the Toro Burger and it was delicious. My family also said all of their food was amazing. Now for service, we had Francisco and Adrien for our waiters and they were absolutely fantastic. Adrien was a big help for the table and Francisco was a great waiter. We had dinner here last week on our trip to Cabo. This restaurant is beautiful and upscale. The service was excellent and the food was different and beautifully presented. I started with a cucumber martini that was so cool and refreshing after a day in the sun! I really enjoyed it so I had a second one. I had a steak dish that I don't remember the name of but was delicious. It came with mashed potatoes present on a marrow bone which game them a beefy flavor. I washed it down with a lovely cabernet sauvignon. Everyone at our table enjoyed their food and a couple of them has some espresso at the end and others had espresso martinis. I tried a sip and it was fabulous! They have a separate bar area and a lovely back yard with sunken seating around a fire pit. read more

We also had several of the chef's specialties, which all turned out great. As for so many of the better restaurants in Mexico, the prices of the wine are exaggerated, especially for imported wine. Two things out of the ordinary: we were told only 5pm reservations were left, so we figured we would dine early. Well, we were the first ones in the place and didn't see another table fill until about 6:00. Second, for some reason, the dining room speakers blasted loud music occasionally. I ordered the shrimp and lobster enchiladas. There wasn't a lot of meat but they were so good. I ordered salsa verde on the side and it was the perfect addition for the enchiladas. My sister and Kristin both ordered the carne asada and they were perfectly cooked and seasoned to perfection. For desert we ordered mini churros and tres leches. Both were great. Accurate score: 3.75. Toro would have earned 5 stars if I had been using Yelp when I first dined there a few years ago. Unfortunately, it seems it has lost some of its luster. The ambiance is fantastic. It is a beautiful space from the very arrival extending out to its back outdoor space. Although, they seem to be a confused with their musical choice. On my evening there was first a DJ which then transitioned to what I would call a wedding band playing mostly top 40 covers. We started with cocktails which were both a let down. I had the Toro Mule which was ok. My wife had the strawberry and basil caipirinha which had a poor flavor balance and was only palatable for about 2 sips. Appetizers were the tuna chicharron and the lomo saltado empanada. Main dishes were the shrimp and crab enchiladas and the miso-chipotle escolar fish. We wanted the Catena malbec but unfortunately they were out. I really wish I had remembered the recommended wine in its place as it truly was quite delicious and probably the best part of the dinner. Dessert was the churros which were also just ok. Overall, an OK dining experience that was slightly overpriced for the quality. Only reason to come here is due to its location so we could walk to and from dinner (bonus - they have a shuttle that will take you home on the Esperanza property). read more

Absolutely amazing restaurant. We went to multiple restaurants in Cabo, one of them being acre. And I would have to say this place was my absolute favorite. The presentation was exceptional, especially when given our drinks which came in cute little boxes or light up bottles. The ambience was perfect in the sense that you never felt out of place. I ordered the ribeye and it came out cooked to perfection, soft and filled with flavor. Pricing for everything was in the right range in my opinion. For the quality of food and ambience I was actually surprised that it was not more expensive. I would highly recommend this place and wish I hadn't waited until the last night to try it out. Horrible service. The food was OK. The service was bad and it never got right after we said something. Here's what you need to know. We went with expectations for a fun delicious meal. We got a miserable experience. When we asked to speak with a manager - no one ever showed up. We asked for the managers name we were told Tony and Armando. I don't know who the manager was tonight, I just know we never spoke with him/her after asking. Our waiter was busy taking care of every table around us and we were invisible. When we asked for some help all of a sudden the bread and our first two courses arrived. Then the main course was dropped 10 min later. In less than 20 min all of our order was delivered. That's how it goes from bad to worse. The worst part is even after we raised the issue and asked for service, they didn't get it. It wasn't like the place was over run with customers. We were never given any type of service. If you're wondering if you should venture out of your hotel to try this place - the answer is no. There are many options that are much more reliable with food as delicious or better. Any of the other restaurants you've heard about are a better choice. We were seated promptly with no reservations, Ivan was our server and he did an outstanding job from beginning to end. The service by all the staff we encountered was top notch. The food was very good, had one of their signature ceviches, a very good sushi roll and their award winning desert, along with a very good bottle of Mexican Saki.
