Tonight was Toro Cantina's first night offering online ordering. My fiancé and I decided to try it, as I've been dying to check this place out and was unable to prior to the quarantine. We ordered the Tacos for 4 (my fiancé can EAT). The website notified us that it would be about 40 minutes, not bad! We got there and there was a small mishap with my order being cancelled. The staff at Toro immediately got to work putting in a new order for me. They were so polite and accommodating! After about 10 minutes we got our food and set for home. Laying the spread out on our kitchen table, it took up almost the entire thing! There were so many delicious toppings and sides. We loved EVERYTHING. The only upset I have with this experience is being unable to eat in house! It was such a beautiful atmosphere, we can't wait to go back! read more

Place is excellent. Really cool vibe and decor inside, although the room is loud, I attribute it to the space being really echoey. The tamales were superb along with the plantains. Their house salsa is incredible as well, and they know it, giving plenty of chips to dunk into. Portions are huge as well. read more

This place is amazing! I am writing a review from my couch since I just ate the best braised beef burrito that was the size of my 2 year old daughter's head and I am in a food coma. The food was delicious, portions were large, and although I was only in there to pick up the order the upscale/ modern Mexican atmosphere made me want to get a table next time. I got the braised beef burrito, my wife got the braised beef tacos, we shared pork nachos, and my daughter had the Mac and cheese. I rarely leave reviews but this was so good it needs as many 5 stars as it could get. read more

Had dinner for the first time because my wife wanted to try a new mexican restaurant. Arrived and was told there was a 20-25 minute wait but were seated sooner. our server came over and took our drink order quickly which was a good sign. Gave her our dinner order when we received our drinks. Food came out reasonably fast but it was all down hill from there. I ordered a $34 ribeye medium well, when it arrived it was on a heated steal block which continued to cook it, fortunately our server brought over a plate so I could take it off the block. The steak itself was like no ribeye I have ever seen, it was about a half inch thick and was the worst looking cut. I have doubts about whether it was even a ribeye. After I finished cutting the fat off, I cut a slice expecting It to be tender and flavorful but it was tough and bland. It came with black beans, rice and tortillas, so I ate those because I considered the steak to be inedible for $34. The server said she thought it was a 10 ounce steak but I doubt if it was even 6 ounces. I pushed the steak aside and the server came to take the the serving board that it came on and I told her she could take the steak as well. She asked me what was wrong with it and I told her it was the worst ribeye I ever had, she went and got the manager and took the steak away. The manager said she was sorry I didn't care for the steak and said they wouldn't charge me for it and asked if I would like something else. I said no because I have a problem with ordering something else after I send something back to the kitchen because I felt it was inedible. My wife and son finished their meals but were not overly impressed with the quality for the price of their entrees. I only gave the place 2 stars because the server was very good. Super nice staff. Went there for the first time for brunch. Drinks were not great, my gf & I did not like either of ours or each other's which was disappointing bc that's what we were looking forward to most. Tortilla soup 10/10, super flavorful & fresh, maybe the best we've ever had. Awesome salsa. Pancakes were pretty good, they had a different taste than usual maybe it was the corn base?? Wasn't a huge fan of the syrup, but I did like the morning skillet with chorizo. I wish they had a lobster quesadilla more affordably priced for one. Otherwise, I appreciate their prices, the place is beautiful, the taste of thing just isn't my favorite. Like so many others, we're trying to support local restaurants through the pandemic, and Toro Cantina has been on our list for a few weeks due to all the positive buzz we're heard & read. We ordered take-out on a Saturday night - it was prepped and ready for us to pick up promptly, and overall, the food was quite good. Between us, we had the empanadas, which were delicious and perfectly cooked, the queso fundido w/chicken, and both a jackfruit and a braised beef burrito. We also ordered candied squash, which got high marks from all of us. All in all, it was pricey, but we expected that, and, for the most part, the quality & quantity of food didn't make us feel cheated. Two complaints: the queso fundido, with the added chicken, was $16, and it was the size of a take-out soup container with very little chicken added. It was good, but absolutely not $16 worth of good. We definitely felt a little short-changed on that item. And the jackfruit in the burrito was so heavily salted that we all agreed it tasted like a mistake had been made - perhaps salted twice or an excess of whatever seasoning they use had been added. It was so salty that it was almost inedible. Fortunately, there was enough rice and beans in the burrito that my daughter was able to remove the jackfruit and she was still happy with what remained. Those issues aside, we were satisfied enough that we'd definitely order takeout again, and look forward to experiencing the atmosphere of the restaurant itself when the virus is no longer a consideration. read more

I don't normally write reviews, but I heard such wonderful things about this restaurant. Very impressed with everything, except the food!! Burritos were dry and bland and boring. Skirt steak was so salty, that it was inedible. They did replace it, but then it had no flavor whatsoever. Margaritas were all juice, minimal tequila. Guac and chips were not bad. I really enjoyed my visit to Toro. Mainly, I was very happy to see a vegetarian option on the menu, jackfruit tacos. The jackfruit was delicious and very flavorful! The portions were big; my friend and I ordered two appetizers, and we ended up taking half of our tacos and rice/beans home. Everything was very tasty and nothing was bland. From the very start, the chips and salsa were also particularly delicious! I ordered a watermelon margarita, and while it was super fresh, refreshing, and yummy, it could have been a bit stronger. The decor is beautiful, youthful, and upscale, and it feels as though you're dining in a city rather than upstate NY on Wolf Road. The service was good; our waitress was attentive and friendly. It would have been nice to receive a complimentary dessert seeing as it was my birthday dinner, but overall I have no complaints. It is a bit on the pricey side, so plan for that. 4 stars just for the slow service, but it was opening night so I'm sure it'll smooth out. Our waitress was very nice, and wait staff kept their masks on at all times. They give you chips and salsa to start, which were very good. Then we ordered the classic guac, which was great and comes with a hefty amount. I ordered the braised beef enchiladas, so delicious and came with sides of rice, beans, and a small salad. Ended dinner with churros, comes with three different sauces. Wow what a horrendous experience my family and I just had at this restaurant. As a celebratory dinner for my sisters graduation we chose to enjoy a meal together here, what a mistake. Our waiter (I forget his name) was great, extremely friendly and personable. However the general manager (a female) was awful and incredibly unprofessional. I have been a vegetarian for over ten years and ordered the jack fruit tacos. I was handed carnitas on the taco and asked over two times "are you sure this is hack fruit" to which the staff responded yes. I began to feel sick and out of no where the manager came out and switched my plate with very little analogy to the correct jack fruit taco after I have been eating meat the entire dinner. I was extremely upset and she did not really understand. My dad also ordered a burrito with jackfruit, he asked is his burrito was also mistaken and had meat in it instead of hack fruit and THE MANAGER proceeded to ask to use his fork to poke into the burrito and check. She went on to pull out a piece of the burrito and smell it and look at it at our table which was extremely unprofessional. She told us it was jackfruit in a very unsure and not believable tone. I dined at Toro last night, with 2 friends. It was clear everyone was excited to be out and about again and having heard much about the staffing crises plaguing local restaurants, I was prepared for a slower than normal meal. What I was not prepared for was to watch our server need to "do a lap" before taking our drink orders, never once checking on us after our meal was served and having to flag him down for EVERYTHING. On top of it, when our plates were (literally) dropped, we still had appetizers on our table, making things very crowded. The food runner could not get away fast enough. I expressed frustration, there was a "helper nearby, management presumably who overheard me and immediately began to remove plates. We weren't done with the apps so a little more conversation or structure to her removal of the plates would've been appreciated. We had to ask for our table to be cleared. One of the diners, from NYC, said well it's not like we're in a "fine dining establishment" to which us locals said, but yes we are... for Albany. The food was fine, but the service was not at all professional or what one would expect Jamie to put his seal of approval on. Again, I understand there is a staff shortage out there, but doesn't mean the staff that IS there should ignore us, leave dirty plates behind and just generally not do their jobs well. read more

Ordered the taco bar with enchiladas add on. Feeds 4-6 there was plenty of food for 6 adults with leftovers. Pick up was easy and on time the load in your car so no interaction with staff.
