Indoor and outdoor seating right between Monterey and Salinas. Perfect stop, came here after hiking at Toro park and grabbed a burger - portion was decent especially for the price. If you're hungry would recommend doubling the patties (at least one burger is a double) but everything tasted great especially the potato salad, and again, was kinda shocked at how decent the prices were just outside of Monterey. Will be back!

So Here We Are At Toro Place Cafe Again, We Haven't Been Here For Awhile Even The Owner Said "Where Have You Been..??" So I Ordered The Pork Chop With Scrambled Eggs And Cheese Sourdough Toast, And Hash Browns..!! Cassandra Is Having The Tuna Melt With Fries And Water . Service here was great! They seems to know what they're doing and the cat is the best waiter. The fries are delicious and their burger is filling. Would love to come back to this cute cafe.

Small cafe for breakfast and lunch. EST 1956. Looks like an old gas station/ market. Taken back when times may have been a bit simpler. I was greeted kindly and seated it has a very quaint feel and very clean. They have a board with morning specials as well as full breakfast menu. I ordered from the specials. Chilaquiles & eggs. It was served with beans and sour cream on the side. The chips were well dressed and the eggs fluffy and cooked perfectly. I ordered mild as I wasn't sure on heat level. I would probably go to medium next time just to up the heat level a bit. Chips were still crispy and slowly some soften up from heat of the eggs and sauce an onions. It was perfectly balanced and one of the best I've had. Coffee is fresh and hot and a nice medium blend with cream or flavor creamers on the side. Will definitely be back to try other items on the menu. They advertise best burgers. So will have to give that a try. Picked up a fresh house made cinnamon roll for tomorrow!

Well, first off, apologies for no photo of MY meal (I took photos of my husband's and my sister in laws , but I will paint a picture with words. I ordered the linguisa, eggs over easy, hashbrowns, and a biscuit. You do not see linguisa on menus very often, and it used to be a childhood favorite of mine, so I could not resist. It did not disappoint. Everything was tasty and satisfying. The biscuit was the fluffy kind, I prefer the crispy kind. Do not come here if you are in a rush though. The service is friendly and kind, but definitely on the slow side. It is the kind of place where you settle in, sip your coffee, and enjoy a leisurely breakfast. Worth the wait if you have the time.

Toro Place Cafe was a very average brunch place. Parking was pretty rough/awkward during 11:15am on a Saturday, but we managed since the place is located right next to the highway. We were seated very quickly outside on the patio which was very nice! It was a cloudy day and a bit cold outside, but only one of the outdoor heaters was working, out of the ~5 they had :( Service was not great but not horrible. When they served our food, they forgot to give me my side of fruit. We also asked for hot sauce (which every other table except us) and I think they forgot. We ended up asking another waitress after finally managing to flag them down and she quickly brought out my fruits (yum) & hot sauce. I was halfway done with my food though which kinda sucked because I was hungry and hot sauce is a necessity with my eggs! The chicken fried steak reminded of the free lunches I got in middle school It didn't seem like anything special to me-- just a fried slab of underseasoned chicken. I think I made a mistake choosing this, but my friend who got the eggs benedict said it was really good! He finished in 6 bites!!! Toro Place Cafe is a decent brunch spot but I didn't feel like it was anything special. I see a lot of folks bringing and pets here, which is pretty cool and nice. I also really enjoyed the patio but I wish the heaters worked or wished I came on a sunnier day. Thank you to the staff here that worked really hard to attend to my table! I imagine they were short staffed during the time I came.

I've been here before with a group of friends and we had a horrible service experience so i haven't given it a thought again, but today my friends insisted that we give it another chance and we did. The foods that we ordered are just okay, it's not something that you would go back to over and over, it's a cute little cafe that needs some good aesthetics, the bathroom is clean though. I must say that service is still the same as last time that we went. They need to up their game on the service.

We stopped by for lunch on a Saturday and we were thrilled with our order. I had the grilled chicken club and spouse had the mushroom burger. We enjoyed the patio dining and the food was terrific! If you are on Hwy 68 the Toro Cafe is a must stop!

Decent roadhouse cafe. I hear the cinnamon buns are amazing but always sold out by the time I arrive. Great meeting spot to carb up before hiking Ft Ord or a nice lunch spot after an epic hike. Good and solid diner. Friendly staff.

I walked in, immediately gravitated to the wall of bread, picked up a loaf, immediately put it back when I saw they had slabs of focaccia as well and got one of those instead. The other baked goods of the day were on display, so I got a piece of raspberry-iced olive oil cake and a slice of the pumpkin loaf. Will definitely be back - this is right down the road from a place we've been staying in Carmel Valley. Exciting to see this bakery in a quieter area that we happen visit every year. We'd definitely been getting our Ad Astra fix over the entire weekend: we had stopped by the other location the day before, and our friends who we stayed together with even brought some stuff from this one for us to try. But eager to see the place with my own eyes, I ventured out in the rain on our last morning in Carmel Valley. Excellent as always. We enjoyed the focaccia at home over the next few days; the cake and loaf piece were tender and moist.

And I luv pastries and baked goods especially if they're authentically fresh made from local bakeries not franchises. So even though we were on a time schedule, I made time to check out this place. So glad I did. Delicious baked items at reasonable prices. Right when I walked in, I was greeted by a young woman that had the best smile and attitude. She was super helpful. I chatted her up a bit and found out they opened in 2021 and it's a family business. The recipes are family recipes. Luv that! Also I had to ask about the prices, there are no prices marked for the baked goods. The case had cookies, cream pies (whole and slices), croissants, muffins, scones, cream puffs, eclairs, mini fruit tarts, cheesecake (whole and slices), and danishes. They all were just so gorgeous. Sitting so pretty in the case. We bought a carrot cake muffin, slice of banana cream pie, a Grandpa David's peanut butter cookie, and a chocolate chip cookie. The cashier packaged everything carefully and provided napkins and forks. The muffins were big, fat and hefty sized. The carrot cake muffin was moist but not so much that it fell apart. So darn good. The frosting was heavenly, not too sweet and just the prefect consistency. I devoured that right away in the car. While I was inhaling the muffin, Hubs scarfed down the banana cream pie slice. The cookies were nice "biggish" size. These cookies were moist, which I prefer over crisp crunchy ones. Grandma Dave's PB was one of the best PB cookies I've ever had. They are also have breakfast menu and lunch menu (burgers, sandwiches, and salads). The place is very small with few two person tables. It's more of takeout place.

We've been to Valley Kitchen dozens of times and the food gets better and tastier. It's evident that the chef and team explores how to incorporate fresh, local, and fine ingredients and bring to life the best of CVR's and California's identity to its dishes. Our favorites are the smoked salmon sourced from Santa Cruz and smoked at Valley Kitchen, Upside Down Hot Honey Cornbread .. and love how he uses the honey, cheese, and garden ingredients. At one point, we had strict diet restrictions and asked Chef Andrew to cook without sugar and to keep our meals below 5g of carb. Not only did we stick to our strict keto diet while traveling but we also fell in love with every single dish he made. Chef Andrew embraced this opportunity to test and adjust to meet our diet needs AND introduce us to new ingredients to include into our diet. We are forever grateful. On this trip, although we asked for his avocado dessert, he politely recommended Chef Molly's desserts. I love how he puts the entire team at the center of the experience. It's a team effort and the desserts were unique to Carmel -- especially with CVR lavender curd. The people who work at CVR and Valley Kitchen are top notch. They are extremely attentive, respectful, and friendly. Many of the servers have been there for years and it shows that when there is a good work culture that it translates to better customer service. The ambiance brings a combination of natural beauty, warmth and coziness (especially with the fireplace), and Californian modern and sleek. I love the Zafferano Pina lamps that provide an intimate experience and enough light to the table (need to see what we're eating!).
