Went there this past weekend for brunch and Initially we went to try their bottomless brunch. Thinking for something to be called "bottomless" you'd expect plenty of options NOPE! Now you'd think with a restaurant to have a small menu that they would master their craft and serve your an amazing meal NOPE! I had such high expectations of this place seeing it was in the heart of downtown Fort Worth and with how amazing dinner looks from the pictures I assumed I was in for a treat for brunch too but I was gravely mistaken. I visited Toro Toro this week for my wedding anniversary. He chose Toro Toro for the tomahawk. Unfortunately they were sold out, but the ribeye was a decent replacement. It was marbled, but bordered the line of being too fatty. The dessert was incredible especially the churros which is a dish that I never order! The empanadas are a must try dish both sweet and savory. I would skip the kale salad and tuna ceviche. The tuna was very bright, not the dark rich color and texture of tuna I prefer. The salad looks nice, but it was dry and I'm someone who doesn't need a lot of dressing. The pieces were longer than the side plates so I gave up on the salad. This is a beautiful space. The decor is well thought out with elements of Texas sprinkled throughout. Seating can be intimate or accommodate large parties. I had seen Toro toro as a recommendation off a local foodie page. I figured I try it out due to the raving reviews. It was about a 40 minute drive and your heading to downton Fort Worth. It seemed like an elevated resturant you'd like to celebrate a special meal with loved ones. They do offer a happy hour so we were able to save a dollar or so but for the most part the menu is pricey. My rating is based off sides. I'm not bothered by spending more money or purchasing a side separately however, when it's not cooked well or missing ingredients it makes the meal a little disconnected. This may be due to expecting more from a "nicer" place but the truth is it will always come down to quality and this it was lacking this evening. I can confidently say this was the best brunch of my life! Brunch is a four course meal where you only select your entree (the third course). Your tastebuds will be delighted with every course, plus you have so many dishes to taste, but you have to pace yourself and only sample items along the way so you can get to the fourth and final dessert course. Came here to celebrate a successful weekend. My wagyu picanha was cooked to the medium rare temp I had requested and was seasoned perfectly. The guacamole was good but not the best I've had. The truffle fries were decent but didn't blow me away. The spectacle of the la bomba dessert was fun while the dessert itself was yummy. The tomahawk is flambed tabelside with mezcal and then finished with bone marrow butter brushed on with rosemary, resulting in a smoky, complex flavor. Three choices of soup, only two wee available. Fruit bowl, just one! This is at the busiest and most precarious hour of the day! We sat for 30 minutes to be served "protein". It was like a sample, food was delicious-snack size. No drink orders were taken. We at least had water, except for me, 4 out of 5. Complimentary dessert was brought out with 5 spoons, but no plates! If you are hungry or even just a little hungry, don't come here!! I came here on a Sunday at around 5:30PM. I was seated and the place did not look full. Me & my wife got 2 appetizers, the guac chips and the fries. After we got our appetizers and ordered our food we waited for over 40 minutes to finally get our food. And to make it worse our server Jose didn't check up on us during that time. I last came for lunch and sat at the bar, my favorite place to sit. My party ordered the tomato burrata salad (I don't believe it's on the menu anymore but it was lovely), blackened tuna tacos, shrimp cocktail aguachile, and a cubano with fries. And of course a couple glasses of wine and an old fashioned or two. The prices are up there but you're paying for the whole experience, the pretty bar, the pretty cocktail glasses, the fresh seafood. My favorite dish was the aguachile: cooked shrimp, aguachile rojo, horseradish, cilantro oil, and avocado. It was really spicy and fresh and had great texture. My blackened tuna tacos were excellent as well, we loved the poblano tartar and tangy vinaigrette. Each taco was about 2-3 small bites. Small but memorable! Toro Toro is known for their churrasco, so I need an occasion to come back for dinner. For $145 you get Brazilian-style wagyu picanha steak, rib eye, bbq chicken thigh, and colorado lamb chops (served with chimichurri, salsa matcha, and grilled shishito peppers). Our first time trying this place and the food was excellent. The octopus was actually not too chewy but tender to my amazement. I would say their Colorado lamb chops and the Amarillo ceviche were the bomb!! The ambiance was perfect for a romantic Valentine's Day dinner. I gave it a 4 out of 5 and i didn't add the pork belly Mac and cheese was because when it first came out, there were only 3 small pieces of pork belly meat on the Mac and cheese.
