Yonge and bloor location this used to be the McDonald's store Order in the front and there some half table booth seats in the back. Water self serve at the back with cups. Once you order in the front you get a pager like disk and it will buzz to tell you your turn. The wait was about 15-20 minutes. The box it came in looks nice and has spot for soya and wasabi. I got a regular tempura roll the rice didn't quite stand out as having enough seasoning however over all presentation wasn't bad and tasted like sushi. Didn't have any fish in my sushi so cannot comment on that.
Toro Toro Sushi and Poke located at the corner of Bloor St. and Charles St. E. is a Japanese restaurant offering poke bowls, rolls, aburi sushi, sushi burritos, sushi pizza/tacos, as well as nigiri and sushi. They actually have several locations within the GTA where this location is their first downtown location. The downtown location is primarily take out only although they do have some tables at the back of the store to have your food there. I stopped by Toro Toro on a Wed afternoon. Upon entering the cashiers and kitchen are to the left of the store. To the right, they have big screens which display their entire menu. Towards the back of the store, they have tables for you to enjoy your sushi. I came by Toro Toro to grab my free birthday maki roll. Staff were nice and asked me to enter my phone number in the kiosk, which showed that I had 2 promos available. They showed me which maki rolls I could order and I opted for the Rainbow Maki roll (which contained tuna, salmon, and yellowtail). My order was placed and they mentioned that it would take about 10 min to make. I decided to walk around the area where I went back to pick up my roll 10 min later. Pick up was fast and efficient as I handed them my order receipt. My sushi roll already was placed in a bag with napkins and a pair of chopsticks inside. When I got home I had my rainbow maki roll (8 pieces for $12.50 (+tax)). The packaging the roll came in was very nice where the roll was laid out while there was a separate compartment for soy sauce. My roll tasted great and was filled with salmon, cucumber, and tempura bits with either salmon, tuna, yellowtail and avocado on top. Overall, a decent place for takeout sushi in the Bloor/Yonge area! I remember seeing their platter for 2 all over Instagram when they first opened and was glad I was finally able to try Toro Toro.
Got take out from Toro Toro and as always the take out box and presentation was next level. Food came pretty fast as well. Lots of space inside, though we didn't sit down. I've tried their original location in Vaughn, which when it was newish, the wait could be up to 3hrs for an order. Here it was quick, maybe 20 minute wait. The food itself was good. Fish was fresh, everything well balanced, they don't skimp on the toppings/filling, however the sushi rice was a bit too soggy. Didn't taste bad but for good sushi, you really should be able to see the individual grains of rice. Still definitely solid sushi and I'll be back again to try a different item.
I heard alot of great things from people about Toro Toro, and I had to come try. I ordered the Rainbow Maki roll ($12.50/8pc) and the Aburi Syake & Ebi Oshi ($13.00/6pc). Though it is alittle pricey, the sushi was filling and fresh! The staff were friendly and explained what to do when ordering. We opted to dine in, and there was limited seating. We went a hour after opening so there was still plenty of seats to choose from. The only downside to dining in was it was really hot inside. So beware if you choose to dine in!
I went to Toro Toro for a free Maki as a birthday gift. When I got in and the staff took my order, they mentioned it would take 15mins to be ready, which was nice since they will make it fresh upon order. I was able to take a seat inside as there weren't many patrons inside. The seating inside was very comfortable and spacious even though there weren't that many tables, and I saw people working and eating there. They appeared to mostly had online orders and I was surprised it took me nearly 30mins to get my order. Luckily I wasn't in a rush, but I didn't expect to wait double the time they estimated. The packaging was beautiful and very organized with condiments. The fish was very fresh and the rice was firm and sticky allowing the Maki not to fall apart so I did like it very much.
This is a cute little sushi spot located Yonge/Bloor area. I only did take out, but while I waited (less than 10 minutes) I took a peek at the inside. It's small and narrow, so unfortunately not a lot of seats, but people mainly do take out, Uber eats, judging from all the pick ups ! Their staff is friendly and I have to say it's probably the most efficient meal preparation I've ever seen. About 8-10 people making the food, boxing it up, adding in the sauces/cutlery. It reminds me of an assembly line! It's also one of the nicest packaged sushi I have seen, they don't skimp on the looks. Taste wise, I would say it's probably a 7/10. Nothing blew me away, but it hit the spot (I had the spicy tuna and the spicy hamachi) . Total was about $17 for both. Their menu is quite extensive so I would love to dine in and try other dishes one day.
My friend and I ordered the Tasting Box for 2 which came with 40 pieces for $80. All sushi served comes in cardboard boxes that are pretty to look at and easy to clean. There are a narrow row of seats inside for you to sit down and eat, as well as self-serve water infused with lemon and cucumber. There is no service, but I enjoyed it all the same. As for the sushi, there were several premium options in the box including lots of torched rolls, salmon sushi tacos, pressed sushi, and very thick and large pieces of salmon sashimi that make up the salmon rose in the middle. The fish tasted fresh and the flavours were unique. They did not skimp out on the fish by adding california rolls or cheaper rolls to the box to fill it up. Definitely worth the price. We were so full, we actually had trouble finishing the last few pieces. I would recommend over eating at AYCE places since the cost is similar, but you get much better quality here.
Fresh fish and innovative flavors!! Ordered some boxes of sushi to go for a late dinner after arrival. I always want something light and protein heavy after traveling and this hit the spot. The boxes contained tuna rolls, scallop rolls, torched (!!) tuna rolls, and some sashimi. My friend ordered so I'm not sure if this was customized or pre-set. All of the seafood tasted incredibly fresh, and the flavor combinations in the rolls were noticeably unique. I think the torched tuna came out on top as my favorite because of the uncommon smokiness. Although, I was aware of the success of the original I hadn't made the trek out so far but I had expectations. Unfortunately, this fell far from the expectations I had. In comparison to other aburi oshi, the flavour in the rice and fish - I can say - I didn't taste it. In fact, even the beloved karaage, fell far short of most that I have had. This is generally my go to side at all Japanese spots. I would not say I would order again. Very disappointed. That being said, it was busy. Crazy busy! The place is walk in and seating is first come first serve. The food for me not as successful as my previous experiences with similar food. Perhaps volume affects output. Although, it does make me want to try their original location. If you love pressed sushi, the stars in the downtown core remain torched press (not far from here), miku and minami. The space is a modern and efficient. They give a ticket with a number to call out your order. Walk in and be prepared to order. The problem is the menu is behind you so when you are ordering - you have to keep turning your head. Awkward.

Upon looking at their menu in detail, we ended up going for their tasting box for two ($75), which contained an assortment of sashimi, maki, rolls, and sushi tacos. We typically order sushi from J.San Sushi Bar, and we feel like Toro Toro gives them a run for their money. Despite getting the box to-go, we were thoroughly impressed with the packaging. We called to place the pick-up order, and they said it only took about 15-20 minutes to prepare the box. Everything tasted fresh - I especially enjoyed the fantasy maki (topped with seared scallop), salmon sashimi, and shrimp summer roll. I didn't get a good look at the interior of the restaurant, but definitely want to dine-in in the future.
Actually exceeded my expectations! My friend said Toro Toro was her favourite sushi restaurant so I had to try it out. We shared two rolls and some torched sushi and it tasted very fresh and flavourful. The presentation was beautiful and service was good too. We both got a side of seaweed salad which I enjoyed. There is no AC in the restaurant so that was the only downside.
Came in on a weekday. The seating for this space is kind of awful. The two seater ones are way too tiny and quite uncomfortable. Overall it feels a bit cramped. Not too sure where to put plates as there weren't any signs- I just assumed it went above the garbage on the shelf. You order at the counter, they call your number and you get your food. We got the tasting box for two. It was really good! For $84, we both got full pretty fast. The shrimp wraps were great, crunchy and flavourful. All of the aburi sushi was nice and smoky as well. My boyfriend and I didn't really like the sushi tacos, they were kind of bland and underwhelming. Overall though everything was great. Not too spicy either. Would love to try their other locations.
Got Ubereats Bogo promo for spicy tuna maki $15.50 for 16 pieces. Liked that there were chunks of tuna instead of minced mysterious version mixed with sriracha at some other places. Unlike the name it was not spicy at all and it had tangy aftertaste. Rice was seasoned well therefore no need for soy sauce.

Finally decided to give Toro Toro a try through Uber Eats and was really impressed. The presentation was beautiful loved the black boxes and flowers. The rice to fish ratio was great, everything tasted fresh and the portions were pretty generous. It is a bit on the pricier side, but the quality and taste definitely make up for it. Was craving sushi, so finally decided to give Toro Toro a try after hearing so many good things! To start off, wow the presentation was so beautiful. They our order to us in a nice black box and bag. We got the tasting box for two ($80), but we shared it between 3 people. It was enough for food us, we were quite full after. I love the variety of sushi they provided, with nigiri, assorted rolls, and more unique options like sushi tacos, rice paper rolls, and yubu! In addition to soy sauce, they gave us this delicious garlic mayo that went well with the rolls :) The quality of the fish was fresh and yummy. There are a few seats to dine in inside the store, but I believe it's primarily a takeout spot as seating is limited. read more

We got the box sushi that's typically for 2, but we shared it among 4 people and even ordered two more rolls of sushi and it was pretty filling! Sushi was also very fresh and we enjoyed all of it. The only issue was finding a table since theres only about 6 of them inside, it's first come first serve. It would have been nice if there were more tables but the restaurant is pretty small inside. read more

This is a bit of a difficult review since there are some things that Toro Toro does uniquely well (like their paperboard takeout containers), and other things that dont meet the mark. I would recommend them for sushi takeout just for the sustainability of packaging alone though -- especially when compared to all the plastic boxes, packets, condiment containers and grass that you get from all other sushi restaurants. I also like that overall the food seems exceedingly clean compared to other other Japanese restaurants for takeout. By this I mean there was a lot of shredded daikon (which I love as I love getting extra veggies especially with sushi because you don't get too much usually). Unagi sashimi was not covered in globs of sweet Unagi sauce, and there was no fat at all on the unagi. It was definitely the healthiest I've ever had and one of the tastiest. The ebi sashimi was butterflied as usual to make it look plentiful, but it was actually the same size as my chopsticks which means it was tiny. You should definitely be using black tiger shrimp, or even a larger regular shrimp. Each shrimp was so small that I could not even taste a shrimp flavour from it. I got the salmon and mushroom Maki with avocado. It was good, but mushroom and salmon have too similar textures to be paired together without something like a slice of jalapeño or scallion to give it flavour and crunch. They did care about food allergies even calling me to sort out what they were going to send, but when they sent it, they also sent me a note saying the "Unagi is NOT gluten-free". We had a phone discussion about making things gluten-free, so that was a bit weird. Definitely keep this joint on your radar, I think they're capable of great things. read more
This is literally so top tier that it's my favourite take out sushi place of all toronto. Flavour and presentation is sooo good. Must try and it's an absolute steal for the price. Really good for a taster box for a duo. So much variety and each one has amazing flavour. 9/10 read more
