In 11/6/20, I visited the El Don food truck in Boise. I ordered the Mexican Style Hot Dog ($6), a Cup of Chili )$2.50) and a Carne Asada Taco ($1.75). The Mexican style hotdog is wrapped in bacon and served with grilled onions, grilled peppers, spicy mayo, ketchup and mustard. Well there was nothing exceptional about the quality of the hotdog itself or bun, and it was a bit too heavily dressed, the combination of toppings were delicious. Despite the photo, this is not a very big hot dog and it is over priced. My favorite item and the one I would return for again is the cup of chili. It has great flavor and is a bit spicy, which is how I like it. I didn't care for the Carne Asada taco, but I did like both salsas. To find El Don, like and follow them on their FB page.

Best Mexican food in town!!!!!!! The soup is soooooo good ( for best taste eat the soup right after getting it. would not recommend driving it back home. Taste better fresh) drinks are good as well. My daughter loves the burrito with hot Cheetos in it.

Delicious quesobirria! We also got birria, adobada, and carnitas tacos. Everything was great but the birria and quesobirria was to die for! We will definitely be back.

I heard about this place from a family member so I was so excited to try, especially the quesabirria. Sadly I was disappointed with the quesabirria, the meat was very dry and it was missing flavor. I also ordered the birria ramen and I didn't think anything special of it also because it had the birria meat that to me was too dry. My husband ordered the Mexican style hot dog and he thought it didn't have anything special. He also got some tacos and the meat wasn't cooked how it's normally made and the tacos had repollo which we have never had repollo on a street taco. The carne asada fries were ok but were too soggy, the guacamole was good. The one thing I loved was the mazapán horchata. I will have to give that 10/10 it was so delicious and I do recommend you trying the horchata. The red salsa was very delicious as well.

Birria tacos, LA style burrito, Carne Asada quesadilla, and an empty mazapan horchata. So good!

It was just spicy enough to be noticed but not enough to ruin the meal. We pared it with the Cadillac margaritas which were amazing. I had the carnitas dinner which was delicious and abundant. Coa de Jima is definitely one of the best Mexican restaurants in the treasure valley and a great place for a date night, taco tuesday or mid-week dinner.

It's very inviting, if not decadent feeling. Unfortunately, the food and drinks were lacking. My mocktail was recommended by our server, but it was much too sweet, and had a weird aftertaste. We ordered chips, guac, and it came with two versions of salsa. One was incredibly bitter (tasted very vinegar-y), while the other just tasted strange. Neither me or my husband like it. The guac, however, was very good. We ordered the Seafood Ceviche, which is a dish we usually love, but not so much here! It was covered in an orange sauce that was overly acidic. It was so much and so acidic, we couldn't taste the seafood. It was lost in the sauce. It seems as though whoever's in the kitchen lacks some culinary intuition. The staff were good. It'a dimly lit, even during the day, for those with sight issues.

A decent Selection of lunch menu offerings, I went with Chili Verde, pork in green sauce, eithucorn tortillas. We ordered chips and salsa, interesting because it's not complimentary as in so many Mexican places, is one hotter yellow sauce with pineapple, a typical medium sauce, and a mild, plus beans were ordered. The chips were gold, house made, the yellow sauce was definitely good, would probably be great on fish tacos, but the medium red was what I preferred with chips. Lunch arrived with the obligatory "hot plate" warning meaning it had bern in the oven. As always, I started by trying the rice and beans, v both were good enough I nearly finished them before even trying the Chili Verde. What was interesting here was I wanted to use the larger than average sized corn tortillas to get every bit of the verde sauce off the plate! Something, we were too busy talking to tell, was different. I don't ever remember wanting to sop all the sauce up with the tortillas before! Would I come back, yes, there is enough that looked interesting to return.

The menu has a few things you can order from burritos, tacos, tortas and other fun items. We ordered a Carne Asada Burrito and it has rice, beans, meat of choice & lettuce and avocado it was pretty good. We got some tacos as well and not sure if she mixed up another ordered but we were short 3 tacos on our order and that was a bummer.. I was really looking forward to them. Their asada, carnitas, el pastor were all really good and authentic flavor and loved that the pastor had the pineapple chunks as well. One thing I did dislike was I asked about chips order and it said $5 when I asked her if I can just have a couple, she was a bit confused and asked the lead there. Apparently they didn't have chips in their truck and had to go find them. That should have been my no thank you but I figured ohh let's give them a try. Once we got to our house and saw the $5 chips I was honestly a bit upset they were store bought nacho chips. Tacos are $2.50 I don't understand why chips are $5 and they aren't even like your traditional Mexican chips or something along those lines. That was my only downfall to this place but those are just chips. Their food was honestly good no doubt about it when we were ordering they had a few people eating there and a few to go orders. Maybe take them off the menu or make little baggies and purchase chips from a Mexican store or make your own tostadas..
