I understand there is a yelp waitlist, and that the job of the person outside must be stressful. There can be a wait but people cut and they did not do anything. We were standing outside as our turn was almost next, and saw a couple was told verbally the wait would be 50-60 minutes by the person outside. They went to the iPad anyway to check in and then after asked if there was a paper menu. The worker said you can go inside, take a photo of it and come back. They went inside and did not come out for a loong time. I peeked inside and saw that they were ordering! I let the worker know right away, he went inside to get them, but it was too late. Its not fair that they just cut 40+ parties. They need to be more observant, because how was I more observant ? Makes me wonder how many other people they let do that, and if this is a tactic that a lot of other people are doing to skip the line. read more

Tried this place on a weekday afternoon and it was YUMMM. The line was pretty long (had to wait ~45 min to get inside) but thankfully there were awnings outside so we weren't in the blistering sun. The inside is pretty small but very nicely decorated. Staff was so sweet and gave us samples of one of their refresher/fruit mocktails. My friend and I got the jasmine matcha, barley tea, and matcha einspanner. All of the drinks were super tasty! Staff said their "perfect" sweetness was a typical boba place's 50% sweetness, but I personally think it's a bit sweeter than that. Other than that, I thought the matcha had a great texture and flavor- not too gritty or earthy. Parking was okay- it's a plaza but there are limited spots. All I can say is what an absolute disappointment to wait an hour on the waitlist and then ANOTHER hour for our drinks. Before the business jumps on me and try to discredit my experience, let me say after ordering, we went outside and the girl with the tablet who opened the door for us explicitly said yes when we asked her if we would be receiving some kind of text when our order is ready, especially since we added our phone number for the rewards after paying. After standing outside the door for almost 40 min, we decided to go in and ask about the status of our order, only to be handed our drinks from the back and be told that they have been ready for the past 40 min. During the time we waited, multiple staff members came out to chat with each other and saw us and said nothing. They clearly recognized us as one of those staff members approached us and confirmed our order, telling us it was ready. These drinks are made of dairy and sitting out with the ice melting so asking for a remake appeared to be a huge inconvenience for them. But it gets worse, because we can hear one of their female staffs talking mad smack about us from the kitchen, and then they come back and tell us they can't remake the two matcha drinks because it's "too expensive". Finally they tell us the solution is to get a refund or take the old drinks. So of course we got the refund. Apologies only to the next guest after us who ordered matcha drinks because guess what, pretty sure you got our melted watered down drinks that left a sour taste in our mouth. Found this place on yelp and it was open late. I met a friend here for late boba date. I tried to call and nobody answers the phone it's a pre recorded message. They didn't like the bits and we asked to fish it out and the people behind the curtains seemed annoyed but they gave me a spoon and I did it myself. The place is very cute and the bathroom is clean. They also offer yoga here so the space is used for other things which I think keeps the energy in here positive and alive. I love that! They had samples of the Cassia Milk Tea when I arrived. I wanted the Ember Milk Tea but also wanted to try their brown sugar tapioca mochi, so I went with the Cassia Milk Tea. Got it less sweet, but I'd go with perfect next time. Light, milky taste with tea that lingers after each sip. The mochi is more like a firm, chewy grass jelly than actual mochi. Flavors felt slightly muted, but it kept me coming back for more. Enjoyed it more as I drank it. My drink was ready in under 5 minutes, which makes this a solid option if you're in the area and want something of Chi Cha San Chen's quality without the long wait. I assume the drinks are nearly premade given the speed, whereas Chi Cha brews each tea individually, leading to longer wait times. It's such an appreciated move, as many cafes take forever when customers decide to take five minutes asking questions. I ordered two drinks during my visit. Perfect sweet was perfect indeed and I didn't feel the need to add more sugar. They also have tapioca mochi instead of tapioca pearls, which was so unique and felt refreshing to experience. The Misty Oolong milk Tea was a lighter and more floral taste than the Koan Im Oolong milk tea (this had roasted notes, but the dark smooth taste was most reminiscent of the Rising Phoenix Oolong milk tea from Orobae). The osmanthus jelly is so fresh and chewy, and the tea flavor comes through strongly but is well balanced with the citrusy tang. Super perfect for us hot summer lactose intolerant girlies! Although there was a long line, it went by quickly. I ordered the popcorn milk tea and the jasmine oolong milk tea. Out of the two, I really enjoyed the popcorn, its creamy, milky and perfectly sweet. I also like their tapiochi, it's soft and chewy the perfect mix of mochi and boba. The employee at the counter described that drink to me as having sugar cane juice, passion fruit and Calamansi (similar to a lime). The drink was very refreshing and wasn't overly sweet. This was one of the rare times I didn't need to adjust sugar levels since the staff told us that "perfect sweetness" is their goal and is always recommended. The chewie is also refreshing and adds nice texture to the drinks. Husband likes the pure tea options. Everything is top notch quality. Price is reasonable as well considering how higher end this place is compared to other chain stores. Waitlist to order milk tea, ever heard? Well here we are. Torotea is located in a tiny, long strip mall with limited parking and space for waiting customers. Getting on their waitlist was about 1 hour wait during peak times and we killed time heading to somewhere nearby as we waited. -Cassia milk tea with brown sugar tapioca mochi: buckwheat is strong and forward. Very toasty -Popcorn milk tea with brown sugar tapioca mochi: wow the creamy flavors from the corn is definitely unexpectedly delicious in milk tea. The tapioca mochi is between a sweet rice ball and boba - it's chewy, but lighter and not as filling as either. I liked that it is not as filling and ruins appetite for meals later. A caveat is that the mochi is so soft and in larger pieces than the straw that sometimes it get stuck and the milk tea either squirts out or get stuck, which can be messy if you were driving while drinking and created a spill. The sweetness from the topping also balance out the less sugar less ice milk tea proportions. I would return in the future, and hope they offer online order as well. read more

There is such a limited selection of tea shops in DB so I'm really glad they opened such a unique store that serves yummy drinks that is also affordable. I really like the decor on the inside. It is very simplistic looking and modern. I like the vibe that it gives off. All the employees are nice and knowledgeable about the menu. I love how they give us samples of the jellies and tapioca mochi since it's such a unique topping to so many people. I've had something like tapioca mochi in LA and in Taiwan so I'm glad that torotea brought it so close to home. I personally got the misty oolong milk tea and my bf got the jasmine oolong tea. They both had a good tea taste. The misty was my favorite because it had a nice, floral oolong taste and a rich and creamy taste from the milk. The brown sugar tapioca mochi just complimented the drink really well. I honestly think it tastes just as good as regular boba! The problem about this tea was that there was no milk alternative so if you're lactose intolerant, this might not be the drink for you :( I hope down the line they will consider adding some plant/ nut milks on the menu. Currently having a soft opening right now so you get to try a sample of one of their drinks up front and their mochi / jelly toppings that they serve instead of boba which seems to be one of their signature draws. Definitely a fan! The popcorn was the winning drink for me. The other tea I ordered was the Koan-Im Oolong. I was between the Misty Oolong and Koan Im, the worker told me that both are the same but one is slightly milkier and Koan is darker in tea flavor. I enjoyed the drink but I definitely knew that Popcorn was the best one. It just had this distinctly nutty, but almost a buttery flavor to it. Service was exceptional where they answered all our questions and suggested their recommendations. In terms of the drinks, I personally didn't like the popcorn milk tea. If you like popcorn as a drink, I would recommend. But it wasn't my cup of tea. The Cassia Milk tea was good and had a nutty flavor. Maybe I was thinking of the mochi like rice cake balls, so the initial texture of the tapioca mochi caught be off guard. It is more like sticky pudding, and interesting. Horrible horrible service. we got there and the person in front told us the wait would be 30 min. We wait 45 min, finally get to talk to them and it's now a new person who said actually it's 1 hour. Then we wait 10 more minutes and now she tells us the wait is gonna be 2 hours long. Like really?! Why couldn't they be truthful the first time we would've just left instead of waiting an hour for nothing. Additionally, seems like there's one waitlist but you can join online and in person at the same time so there's just so much redundancy and bloat and many ppl just adding extra names but they don't take that into account at all. Ridiculous they expect you to be joining the waitlist 2 hours ahead. what a mess! When confronted they just did the same as the insurance companies: delay, deflect, deny. A friend of mine told me a new tea shop called ToroTea just opened at Diamond Bar and I should go try. It's located in a small plaza next to Ni Ni bakery. ToroTea is a small tea shop with no tables, some benches along side the wall due to design and limited space. It does have a restroom! Decor is artistic, relaxing, and modern. There are two kiosks for ordering, but I immediately drawn by the samples they offered on the order counter. I tried all the small sample cups, all of them taste refreshing and dessert like. Taste of my tea is sweet and flavorful of citrus and osmanthus with osmanthus jelly. It's taste feels like ice tea with sweeter and stronger citrus plus jellies. It's more dessert like than a drink in my opinion. My rating is more of 4.5 stars for using desserts recipes and creating unique flavors with their own mochi and jelly. read more

Let me tell you that their milk teas are so good! We got the popcorn milk tea with brown sugar tapioca mochi and the misty oolong milk tea with black tea tapioca mochi. Popcorn milk tea has a light and sweet taste of corn and it pairs well with the extra sweetness of brown sugar mochi. The misty oolong tea does have a light floral taste and I opted for the black tea mochi. The oolong tea is one of the best teas I had! The girl working at the cashier is so nice and friendly with explaining what each drink tastes like and even checked in to see if I wanted to order something else. The manager (I think) noticed that I wanted to get two drinks instead of one since there was a sign that per customer can only order one at the moment but let me order two drinks which is so nice. I love the comfy minimalist boho vibes of the place which is so cute! I'll be coming back to try the rest of the drinks! read more

Was finally able to try Torotea after all the social media hype had died down a little, and it's a solid spot for high quality boba. I ordered the Popcorn Milk Tea with Brown Sugar Tapioca Mochi. I appreciate the innovation of the tapioca mochi -- it was like a hybridization of grass jelly and boba. It made for an interesting textural experience, and offered a nice alternative to the typical spherical tapioca pearl.I also liked how the novelty of the popcorn flavor wasn't just a gimmick. It was roasty and nutty; those who like roasted milk tea or black sesame flavor would likely enjoy this. I also appreciated how they clarified that their normal "100%" sweetness was only slightly sweet. As someone who likes their drinks at normally 0-25% sugar, the sweetness level was just right and no adjustments were needed on my end. Service: The workers were very friendly and took their time with each customer, helpfully pointing out Torotea's signature drinks and also giving their own recommendations per each customer's preference.
