Tenju Tea House x SGV Boba Passport! Tenju Tea House was one of my personal favorite redemptions from the passport. The location is located in the busy plaza of Chubby Skewers. We usually try to park behind the plaza as there is more parking available. This location offers a kiosk and staff to place orders. There have a few tables for seating. The staff here were super knowledgeable on their menu and explained everything very clearly. For our redemptions we got to choose from the top 9 list. We got the Iron Goddess Milk Tea & and the Orange Mojito Green Tea. Both drinks were great options. The sweetness was balances in the Iron Goddess and the Mojito one was refreshing. We also go to sample the Golden Buckwheat Oat Latte. That drink was amazing! We had to order one for ourselves. It might be limited time only, but one I would highly recommend. I had a lovely experience at Tenju Tea House (Rowland Heights). I ordered the Iron Goddess Milk Tea ($6.75 - Large - 100% Sweetness). It's toasty oolong tea with hints of honey & caramel. TASTY! With each sip, I felt my stress and worries fade away. I smiled happily. (Important: Bring Cash. With Card, there's a 35 cents additional charge for orders under $15.) I arrived at Tenju Tea House (Rowland Heights) on Friday (around 11:45AM). There's a competitive, busy parking lot. Fortunately, I quickly found parking. Staff is professional and polite. Staff gave good recommendations, and Staff answered all my questions. The drink took about five minutes. As mentioned, I ordered the Iron Goddess Milk Tea ($6.75 - Large - 100% Sweetness). The crisp tea taste is pronounced and brewed perfectly (not burnt). Its gentle sweetness soothes the throat, and the flavor of honey and caramel flutters about. It's DELICIOUS! On ambiance, Tenju Tea House (Rowland Heights) is aged, worn-down but well-maintained. The location is a little small; there's about four tables. Fortunately, it feels well-ventilated and airy. In addition, Tenju Tea House (Rowland Heights) also has PLENTY of utility. This spot has 34 electrical outlets!!! WOW! These outlets easily blend with the wall. There's also customer internet with password; customers must ask Staff for details. There's also a gender neutral restroom in the back. I remember having this years ago in the temple city location. Was surprised they have one in Rowland. They are Taiwanese style tea and have plenty of fun options. I got the buckwheat bc it's non caffeinated since it was pretty late at night but wow it was so interesting and unique (in a good way)! It was nutty and refreshing. The workers are also very friendly and were talking to us about the jelly and even offered samples. If you like toro tea's tapiochi or odd one out silk boba, they have it too called mochi jelly. Def one of those local gem that people just walk pass. Hopefully more people will visit! read more

Quick service and great Tea. I was surprised how good the quality was for the tea here. We were given some samples and they were delicious. We ended up buying the buckwheat milk tea and the apple tea drink. Would definitely recommend those drinks. For food we also got popcorn chicken. Flavor was good but the texture was soft and squishy. If they fried it twice it would be better. PS. They do have a restroom here which is great. Parking lot is big but it's super busy. I was in the mood for some popcorn chicken and this spot had some! I got a medium spicy chicken and a golden buckwheat oat latte 70% sugar! The service was ok, but the ambiance is average with a bit of chatter happening at the time I came. The popcorn chicken is a nice kick of spice and soft and tender with the chicken. The buckwheat tea is nice, earthy and smooth! There is a wheat taste but this drink is hearty and rare since not many tea places have this! The mochi jelly is nice and chewy, which is a great add on with the drink. TIP: There's a gender neutral restroom in this place! No outside food and drinks are allowed here. I saw that reviews for popcorn chicken here were mostly good, so I wanted to try it out for myself. My order included a monk's blend ($6) with 30% sweetness and popcorn chicken ($9.65). The monk's blend was an iced Ceylon black tea with a touch of vanilla and grenadine. Although this drink is a signature menu item, I didn't really enjoy the citrusy and plum-like tartness. Most of the popcorn chicken pieces had a crispy texture, whereas others were a tad soggy. With medium spice, the chicken was very flavorful. The popcorn chicken came in an oyster pail that looked a little small, but the portion size still seemed adequate for the price. I ended up drinking the tea first before eating the chicken because the flavors did not leave a complementary aftertaste. Also, I got my tea first, but the staff forgot to give me the popcorn chicken even though they said that it's on the way. I had to follow up after waiting several minutes. One staff member was apologetic and explained that she thought my order was complete once I got my tea. The wait was unfortunately long because of the miscommunication. read more

Tenju Tea House has solid tea. A plus is they offer loyalty stamp cards! I think the 10th drink is free. There is a kiosk if you want to pay by card/tap, but you can order with the cashier too. I thought they used to be in the 99 Ranch plaza, but I guess they moved here behind Yoshinoya. The parking lot is more tight and annoying to find parking here. I've been back here a few times since the last and in those times there was a time where their popcorn chicken and other snacks were not that great but this specific visit this time was excellent!! They definitely have good and bad days when it comes to their snacks. Their teas are pretty consistent. They have fried tofu but it is a bit soft. Would be better if a bit more firm. THE BEST TEAHOUSE FOR TEA! If you are in the mood for tea and find yourself in Rowland Heights, Tenju Tea House is the shop place to stop! As many times as I have been here, there are sooo many teas to choose from and the tea brewers always have a GREAT recommendation to offer. Not to mention, their freshly prepared hot snacks from the kitchen are absolutely fantastic! The service has been consistent and so very friendly ALL of the times I've been here. This one thing that makes it easier to return. The tea shop is clean, well lit, and welcoming... not to mention, it is in an amazing shopping center with so many hidden gems like Love Letter Pizza & Chicken, the Galleria Food Wholesale, and the CHUBBY Skewers and the KBBQ place a few doors over. Just beware of the busy parking lot as it is very busy and a bit tricky in finding parking so easily. My only genuine complaint about Tenju Tea House is the self-service machine at the counter will automatically charge a $2 tip for all transactions without the customer's authorization and without any obvious proper notice. Yet, the tea and the food is really good here. So I did not mind the $2 tip on my transaction for one tea beverage. If you want to avoid this automatic tip on your electronic transaction from the self-service kiosk and perhaps tip more?... then be sure to have one of the staff process your charge. Tried tenju on a Sunday afternoon and really enjoyed it! I tried the lychee oolong tea - it was decent, though I wish it was a bit more tea forward. My friend and I shared popcorn chicken and the creamy corn bites and I really enjoyed both! The corn bites were such a pleasant surprise - nice and creamy and had a nice sweetness. Haven't been to Tenju in YEARS. They used to be connected to a random grocery store(?) but so so happy to see them with their own spot. Their tea is high quality and I don't have to worry about adjusting the sweetness. I always come here after a big meal so haven't tried their snackies yet. It wasn't the best tea I had. It seemed like it was more milk than tea that was watered down. I did get it half sweet but it just tasted like they took out the flavor. While my friends and I were sitting, a lot of people were walking in and out ordering their drinks to go. The popcorn chicken smelled really good, so maybe I will try that next time. Our absolute fave even though we have moved nearly one hour away and subject ourselves to terrible traffic in this plaza. We will go the distance to get Tenju when we're in the area. Husband loves their Assam Milk Tea and always gets two toppings: pudding and boba. I usually switch it up based on my moods, but have recently been obsessed with cheese foam or any form of cream top.
