First of all, I love the vibes here! The tables are nicely decopaged and they have lots of art from local creators hanging on the wall for sale. There's also a vending machine with cool oddities and free (!!) Plan-B, should you need it :). Baristas were very kind and welcoming and service was quite fast. I ordered the Palo Santo Honey Latte which was...alright. It wasn't bad, for sure, but I felt like the flavors covered up the coffee? I'll have to come back and try a cold brew or americano to give my full thoughts. Small amount of tabled and bar style seating inside. They have lots of merchandise for sale inside. They are dog friendly. Order at the register towards the back. They have food and drinks. They offer whole milk (straus organic) and oat milk (no extra charge, they use planet oat milk). You can choose between two different types of espresso for your drinks, both on display at the register. Drinks take a bit to come out, come with patience. Their menu was a bit confusing with the +cold foam next to the drink which makes you think it comes with it but it does not. Took two pictures of the menu and one had the +cold foam and the other had a separate note saying cold foam $1. Iced drink creation: they add ice, then milk, then espresso and then syrup into a cup. They pour into a shaker, gently shake/swirl and then pour back into the cup. Great way to mix the flavor profile throughout. Tried: Holy Banana $8.50 - Good flavor. Came here again on a Sunday for a meet up. Line wasn't long at all, I get nervous ordering as many others do. So, I forgot to mention the size I wanted, which is 10 oz. The lady working automatically put in 16 oz since I didn't specify. I would have liked if she asked me. And I also thought that they let you choose between 2 diff beans in the latte, but then again she didn't ask so maybe that was just a one time thing (the time I went with my brother, there was flavor profile breakdown and all that). Anyways, I got the $8.89, Iced Vanilla Lavender Latte with dairy milk. They don't accept cash unless they can around the number up (I guess maybe if you order non dairy milk it will come out as an even number? Idk). I think the price is not worth the quality that you receive. It was mainly milk and couldn't even taste the espresso. A very very faint lavender taste. I think they need to rework their vanilla lavender syrup, maybe look into some culinary grade lavender as that is super fragrant. Whatever they use or the ratios doesn't come through at all. Another thing I wouldn't recommend ordering is the matcha. My friend ordered his with a little bit of sweetener and he said he couldn't taste the matcha at all, and it just tasted like milk. It was disappointing. However, my other friends, rave about Torque Coffee saying it's one of their favorites. If you tend to order espresso, pour overs, cold brews, & sparkling espresso drinks -- Torque Coffee is a spot to come to. In addition, I think the owners are really nice and they do think of their customers. I saw that they added more seating and benches outside their space. And I believe the owner brought out extra chairs and a table for us to sit as more people started to arrive. They even had a little bowl of water for dogs. A friend from work and I had just had a funny morning trying to get some boxes mailed out. Our first post office didn't open until 9:30, another one opened at 9, but though there was a worker inside, it was still closed and didn't open until 9:20...LOL! She: We need coffee! She had never been to Torque, so why not go here. And luck had it, we had parking right in front. Lydy asked if they had a lavender latte and was excited they did. I looked at the menu and the Smoke(?) sounded interesting...made with a non-alcoholic bourbon....hhhmmmm. I watched him make it and he also put a dash of bitters on top. I stopped by Torque Coffee to pick up espresso beans for my husband after reading so many good things on Reddit about their customer service and espresso. From the moment I walked in, two people greeted me right away and made the shop feel super welcoming. The space itself is really cute, with a relaxed vibe and a few tables where people were working on laptops. I actually don't drink coffee (I'm caffeine sensitive haha), so I told the barista I had no idea what to pick for my husband. They have really well-stocked shelves with beans roasted in house, and you can tell they genuinely take pride in what they do. The packaging is beautiful, and each bag has a card explaining the flavor notes and where the beans come from. After I mentioned a few coffees my husband has liked before, the barista recommended the Dark Drop beans. He was so kind, patient, and helpful -- especially to someone completely clueless about coffee. While I was there, he also made me an oat milk matcha with honey, and it was really good. Smooth and creamy. My husband had been gone for work for a month, so I wanted to surprise him with fresh beans when he got home. He absolutely loved them and said the espresso was balanced, bold, and incredibly fresh. We'll definitely be back to try more beans, and I'll absolutely be returning for another matcha. We were visiting some friends in the area who are fans of this place and they told us that they were running anniversary specials so we decided to stop by. Torque has such a positive energy about it with its bright, welcoming cafe, community driven initiatives, ethically sourced coffee beans brewed in-house, and collaborative spirit with other local businesses. They also supply free resources, namely a 'Coffee Brewing Quick Guide" leaflet for brewing between 6 different methods, perfect to keep at ones coffee bar as quick reference, especially for one such as myself who enjoys them all and rotates between the different methods here and there. Their offerings are vast from seasonal lattes made with in-house syrups, to a very spice-forward, only slightly sweet chai, and to their coffee beans. I do absolutely LOVE the graphics on their coffee bags which provide very detailed information on the bean's overall profile, but presented in such an easy-to-understand, intuitive way. Their dedication to coffee education is quite evident, a very admirable quality of this coffee shop and roaster. Firstly the service here is great. The staff is so kind. I am the biggest klutz in the world and they remade my spilled drink instantly. I felt so bad so thank you for being so kind about it. I came here to buy coffee beans because I saw that they roast them in-house. I paid $19 for a 12 oz bag, which also came with a free cup of coffee. The beans were really good, and I was happy with that purchase. Since I had already made the drive, I decided to order a Banana Foster latte as well. Unfortunately, that was disappointing. I was expecting flavors of banana and brown sugar, but it mostly just tasted like espresso and milk, with very little flavor. The service was great, though. 9:15 AM on a Sunday. Ugh, the latte drinks sucks. We ordered a banana something and a vanilla lavender latte. Was no hint of the ingredients in either drink. I order a cappuccino, but I guess she didn't hear me with the loud music (did I mention it was early on a Sunday?). I also tasted the drinks, no flavor. No hint of banana. This is a darling coffee shop on El Cajon. It feels really cozy and they have art you can buy from local artists all over their walls. I got the Palo Santo Latte and Impossible Breakfast biscuit - both were absolutely delicious! The barista Ole was friendly and skilled, they had free educational guides for home brewers like myself, and they happen to sell coffee-chocolate, which I'm always on the hunt for. I hate it when you can't taste the coffee in chocolate bars claiming to have coffee in them, theirs was tasty and truly gourmet--a local collab with San Diego Coffee Co. Such a great experience! A cozy little shop with an amazing variety of freshly roasted beans. The roast dates are easily visible on the bottom of each bag and there were about 10-12 coffee variety's available! It's small, but they have some cute merchandise and decor, like their vending machine with the most interesting variety of items. So good I ended up going back a few days later to get it again! We also tried some of their pastries, which were really good. There were two customers seated when we stopped by but the two people behind the counter were distracted with whatever was going on back there. We had to repeat our order twice and weren't sure if we'd get what we ordered. Turns out we did. I ordered a hot figgy pudding latte which wasn't overly sweet but had hints of date, fig, and was cardamom forward. My husband ordered a large palo santo honey latte which he really liked (I wasn't a fan). I then ordered the souther biscuit warmed. The flavors were great, a bit chewy to be called a biscuit but a good roll. The vending machine with fun things to purchase is cute, they have a few tables to sit at, and sell beans and swag. The shop really cares about the products they sell and put in a lot of effort to be transparent about what they sell and where it comes from. I first discovered them as a customer and was so impressed by the vibes and how other customers knew the staff. It felt really warm and welcoming. They have a great menu of coffee and other drinks. The coffee is so smooth and strong. I tried their homemade biscuits too. Sooo yummy. I then collaborated with them as a business owner myself to do a Baklawa workshop and catered one of their wine/beer tastings and loved how easy it was to work with them. Yes, service was good, cashier was nice. Decor inside was pleasant. Otherwise, there's nothing else nice left to say. Parking was annoying as we had to drive in circles. The main issue was what we came in there for, the drinks and the food. My girlfriend asked what flavors there were for the burritos and he listed some including the egg and potato one. We received an egg and BEAN burrito which she did not end up eating. As for our drinks, we ordered a brown sugar latte and the Hugo matcha latte. We knew it was off from the start just from the color of our drinks. They both had no flavor because of the excess amount of milk they add to it. I get milk is a main component of both drinks but we want to be able to taste and enjoy what we ordered. Especially because you also have to pay an extra dollar for this matcha that we weren't able to taste at all. We paid $32+ for two miniature burritos and two drinks neither of us drank a quarter of.
