Torrance Electronics is about the only place you can get electronic components and parts same day anymore. "Just in Time" and minimum inventory practices don't always pan out, and often times our purchasing department doesn't order any extras. Unfortunately, situations always arise where we really can't wait for an overnight shipment from Digi-key. All I needed last week were two new IDC connectors because a tech swapped the orientation when crimping them, and not having that harness completed would hold up testing and ultimately shipment (and payment!). I have been coming here more than 5 years and they have always had what I needed, or something I could use to get the job done. They have a big selection of surplus gear for rock bottom prices, and odd ball parts that might just be a better solution that your original plan. Any time I'm here I spend a few minutes browsing through the random boxes and usually end up finding something cool for a home project. They also carry a large supply of chemicals for home brew PCB making, copper clad board, and any tool you would need to work on electrical or electronics gear. The store seems like a mess, but it is loosely organized and the guys working behind the counter pretty much know where everything is and can jump right to it when you ask for help. I wish Torrance Electronics continued success, and they will continue to be my go to for same day parts for work, and oddball parts for my home projects. read more

This place is literally the only game in town. - If you even count Torrance as Los Angeles! It's kind of a mess, but they have all the things you used to be able to get at Radio Shack or your local electronics store that no longer exists in Los Angeles. The staff is super helpful, and knows their stuff. A guy spent 20 minutes helping me figure out what kind of resistor I needed - info I just couldn't figure out by googling, no matter how hard I googled. read more

Very rude and poor customer service! Usually come here and have never had any issues but today when I went and tried to get help from the gentlemen there he didn't even bother looking at me he just mentioned he was busy and even told me "just look it up on YouTube". Clearly anybody and everybody can look something up on the internet but it's definitely not a response an employee should give a customer. read more

First impression from outside - I must have the wrong address. Once inside, you realize you have entered nerd heaven without the passing away hassle. A highly intelligent and friendly staff will take the time to explain tech details like Cat 5 versus Cat 6. Never a "You should know that" or "I am too busy" attitude. Or even a "I would rather help the other customer with their $200 purchase than your $2 purchase". Working for multiple tech companies in the area, I have been in the store many times and have witnessed how well they service customers ranging from senior electrical engineers to a kid working on his science fair project. I've been a customer of there's for a few years now (I repair vintage audio gear, amongst other things). I've brought everything from an NBA Jam arcade board to various keyboards and synthesizers. OUTSTANDING service! Torrance Electronics saved our Work From Home situation by finding a replacement power charger set-up for our WiFi router wire which our mischievous rabbit managed to partially sever by squishing behind a barrier. All it took was a quick call and trip to the store, and Robert quickly came up with a solution to our severed wire problem, as well as cord protection for potential future rabbit raids. Extremely knowledgeable and helpful, very reasonable prices ... need an electronic part, phone charger, anything electronic, give them a call first ... you won't be disappointed. I like this store. Actually I consider them as one of the only few real electronic stores still in business in Los Angeles. Well stocked on both tools and electronic components. If you are an electronics hobbyists, this is the place for you. The most complaints I have seen are 1) The place is a mess, dark or old or something alone this line, and 2) the staff is rude. A1) Okay, the place looks old, they must have been in business for a long time. But they have the stuff, isn't that the most important? Are you going to date your girlfriend in the capacitor and SPDT switches aisle? Hell no! Get a life. A2) Okay, I admit that I haven't meet all the staff, but I have no problem so far. On the other hand, the staffs who helped me were very helpful. The only other store I know that is also good is Ford Electronics in Buena Park. That is it. One of the last great electronic stores around, anywhere. And not nearly as expensive as some of the other LA area stores (anything that ends in *vac). I've been going here for years and have always been able to find exactly what I've needed to get the job done. If you're in need of a hard to find component, give Torrance Electronics a try first before stopping at one of the other locals (Signal or Fry's)--you'll pay a lot less and go through less hassle to get what you need. I needed a mini-usb to usb cable to see if an ancient MP3 player I found behind my desk still worked. I called they said they had them. I went, the guy pointed right to the spot where they were. No BS, no stupid idiots like you find at Target, Wal-Mart, etc. etc. etc. If you are any sort of electronics hobbyist, you owe it to yourself to go to this store, and find something you're looking for. OH YEs...like the other reviewers mentioned...I don't think they are rude, but they are efficient, and all about business...If you want someone to smile, and tell you they appreciate your business, but they don't know shit about electronics, go somewhere else. This place is definitely for serious electricians. There are boxes, rolls of wire, parts and pieces everywhere so I absolutely needed help navigating through the place. The young guy who helped me was very knowledgeable. He answered all of my questions and helped me find all of the parts that I needed quickly (and very inexpensively). They also have their own parking lot so it was easy to park, find what I needed, and get out very quickly. I would definitely go back! These guys have everything! read more

I was the only patron in the store, waiting patiently at the counter and they all just stood around and bantered, none of them wanting to assist me. This is my preferred place to buy electronic parts locally. I used to live in the area but live in Commerce now and will drive there when I really need certain parts. They are still an "old school" electronics parts store - resistors, capacitors, diodes, transistors, etc. They are not really a consumer electronics store. They also have soldering tools, multimeters (DMM/DVM), etc. I've always had great customer service there and the staff knows their stuff. They carry all of the basic electronic parts and i've even noticed a small selection of surface mounted components (but usually I buy those items online). Great for those little items I need when prototyping/designing/building. read more

Great for someone looking for that part of electronics they can't seem to find anyplace. Better than any radio shack by far. If you've been there, you know there are very few places that carry their stock of items. Networking equipment pricing is a little high but it's quicker than going to Fry's or waiting for an online order. Great staff, and real accepting of returns when needed. This is what an electronics store should be. Well electronics store for DIYers. They have every part you could every need for your electronics projects and then some all crammed into the size of a 1 bedroom apartment. You may have a hard time finding what you need, but trust me its there somewhere buried under that pile of capacitors. Went in completely clueless about what I was getting. My daughter had a school project and needed some parts. I showed the guy at the counter some pictures and he immediately hooked me up with one of the parts that "wasn't exactly the same but might work". It didn't. I asked him where I might be able to find the other two parts he directed me to hobby lobby a half hour away. Hobby lobby didn't carry any of the parts I needed. Yet here I am giving them a 5 star rating. Why? No clue! The guy was cool I'm sure he had the best intentions sending me on a half hour drive to nowhere. All the other customers in the store seem to be getting what they went in for. The store is messy and unorganized one of those hidden gems that you're lucky to stumble across. read more

Incredible although 75 miles from home. they had everything I needed to rebuild a circuit board for the memory for a bingo board. company who could sell the board wanted $500 for replacement board. I rebuilt it for $25. also the employees are so knowledgeable and new all the parts even the ones that were burnt to a crisp... bought on Friday repaired board on Saturday. installed Saturday nite. sunday bingo was on. the bingo board was showing the proper number and last number lit up. Then posts a complaint using someone else's account and neglects to mention it's not them posting the account nor the more than once part. WTF WHO DOES THAT??? Torrance Electronics is the best place in the South Bay for all your electronic needs. Tons of stuff (including things that cannot be found at any retail outlet within several miles) at reasonable prices. A rare find these days to see a local shop with all sorts of electronic parts needed for repairs weather a tinkerer/Maker D.I.Y. guy, someone with some skills fixing gadgets/devices, perhaps you're a residential electrician even, there's something here for any and all of us in this little gem! I can usually only find parts online if lucky and not worth it for a few tiny little things but here you'll be good to go! They have all the tiny and big parts AND the tools you may need too. Better but sometimes second only to Frye's way in Manhattan Beach and they actually carry stuff here nobody else does. They also have single board computers like Arduino and Raspberry Pi etc. Staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Prices are fair too!
