They always have what I need. Helpful, friendly workers with great advice. Rows and rows of all sorts of electronic and related products. Puts Home Depot to shame. But it's the people and their knowledge that makes it great. They listen and help to solve your problem or help you figure out how to create what you have in mind. They know their stuff. Don't let the plain outside of the building full you, it's jam packed with the goods you need. They have so many components, in every type, size, shape and variety. They have so many tools. I picked up a super cheap x-acto knife here. Also got some connectors and an extra long cable. They carry all sorts of cables and connectors. Electrical parts galore. They have semiconductors. If you need a fuse, cheap...you'll find it here. Lots of electronic products. Honestly, it's a nurds paradise. Want to build your own computer from scratch? Yeap, it's that kind of place. If you like Fry's, you'll love this even more. If you're not a nurd, you will appreciate, that the workers are and will actually help you. Sort of like a rent-a-nurd, in a really good way. As other readers have noted, they have your electronic needs and support your local mom and pop store. Instead of trekking over to Fry's I decided to mosey by this store since it's a heck of a lot closer vs manhattan beach but I left frustrated and had to go to Fry's to get my 6pin to 4pin firewire cable. The store is packed from front to back with packaged gear and loose gear stuffed in boxes on the floor, be careful to not trip anywhere, I accidentally snagged part of a display and knocked stuff down with my bag but I did pick everything up tho! Their firewire cables were a mess and labeled wrong and the young man that was working there just kind of waved his arms around where the cables were and said that he's not familiar with the firewire cables and this is it. I tried explaining what I needed it for but nada, my explanation wasn't worth their time so I just walked out and went to Fry's and got the help and gear that I needed. So much for supporting small businesses 11/30, maybe I'll try this place again later but that's a big IF. read more

I had some issues getting my TV and computer set up. I sent my wife to pick up cables after talking with Torrance Electronics over the phone. To make a long story short, the cables didn't work, but it was my fault as they weren't the right ones. However, upon returning them, they really tried very hard to help us out. It turned out I was just making a very simple error. But they really were concerned and wanted to help. While at the end of the day, no purchase was necessary, I really feel like the service and concern warrants a strong review. read more

I work in a laboratory where things break often due to high use. A guy at Radio Shack told me about this place and that they have EVERYTHING you need that is ELECTRONICAL... The store is really packed in there with just about every electronic component you need, and MANY, MANY more things you don't need. I have spent so much time just walking down the aisles just seeing what they have. It makes you feel like you can build anything. This place really surprises me. Last time I went in here - I really understood - these guys are GREAT. The help has always been good here, the staff mostly knows what they're talking about and are almost always willing to help out with advice - but its usually busy here and so sometimes you have to wait. However - after recently checking similar prices at O'Reillys auto parts and Home Depot - I was shocked at the price differences. These guys offer so much of the same stuff at a much better bargain - much better - so much so that when I go to home depot sometimes and pass by the exacto-knives and other small tools I just roll my eyes - they are committing robbery while Torrance Electronic is selling items at what they should be priced at. I would call this an "old school" electronics store. And that's a good thing. All kinds of electronic parts, gizmos, etc. Relatively small store crammed with stuff. Came in recently looking to replace a few parts to a very important piece of equipment, they recommended I use electronic cleaner first before trying to replace any parts and guess what, they were right! sprayed the parts with "Tronic Clean" and booyah! my equipment works again, no need to replace the parts, Thanks guys, you rock! Probably the best (real) electronics shop in the area, where they sell actual electronics components, tools, enclosures, and your basic electrical needs. Unfortunately, they are still a little behind the times I think, which is both good and bad. I'd say they're geared more towards old time radio hobbyists (which, again, is both good and bad depending on what you need). They're a bit overpriced in my opinion, but sometimes their prices are way out of line. $100 for a multimeter I could have gotten online for less than half the price. I know they gotta pay the bills, but geez! They're not competitive with online vendors. In short, if you need to get your hands on components quickly, buy in small quantity like a resistor and a diode, or see things in person before you buy them, you should definitely check this place out. Otherwise, buy your components online -- they're much cheaper! read more

They have tons of stuff packed into a small shop. The workers are always talking to one another about some weird topic, which gives off a good hobbyist shop sort of vibe. The most important thing for me is that I found what I've been looking for. I know it's not a hobby shop, but I wish they carry more MCUs and servo motor type stuff. Great place for all your electronics needs. They have just about everything!! Only gave it four stars was even thinking of giving it three because of service! The older white man is great (I think he's the manager/owner) but forget about the rest (young guys)! On numerous occasions I've been in there and asked a question or two to the younger guys but don't expect an answer for like two minutes until they are done looking at random web sites! I'm sorry but customer service is very important! I'm not asking for a "have a nice day" response, just freaking acknowledge me when I ask a question!! I shop here for electronic components, tools, etc. that you won't find anywhere else. Best of all, they are VERY helpful with whatever you're dealing with. I had a remote for our A/V receiver that no longer worked. I took it there. Once apart, we found a small electrical component that had one its contacts broken lose from the circuit board. One of the guys fired up his solder gun, added some wire to the component and fixed it. He didn't charge me anything but I tipped him anyway for his troubles. They also have the batteries for portable phones that have to be replaced every now and then. Also, if you have cabling for Ethernet, etc. that you would like to have done, talk to them. One of their guys helped me run CAT-5 cable at my house, up through the walls. read more

Really like this place. One of the heater relays fried on the hot tub and when I looked for a new heater circuit board online it was $230. So instead just picked up a new 12vdc 30amp 250vac circuit board relay and some stranded flat wire for @ $9 total and about an hour later the hot tub is heating again. read more
