WE love Dr. Yu our family has been coming to him for over 16 years and the last 14 years we have lived 30+miles away from the office.

I was a patient of Torrance Optometry for over five years, but for some reason the service isn't as good as it used to be. Over the years the service has become a little more rushed, you definitely feel like a number. I'm not sure if they are busier than before but you don't get the one-on-one service they used to provide. read more

After I got screwed over by another optometrist, i came here. They fit me in even though they didnt have anymore appointments. They were very professional, very kind, especially since i dont have insurance. The doctor was very friendly answered all my questions and was very effective. Since i dont have insurance glasses are super expensive for me. They were able to use my current frames so I wouldnt have to pay as much. Very considerate of them. In 2004 I had laser surgery to fix my extreme near sightedness and astigmatism, and although my vision wasn't perfect after surgery, I thought that was all I needed. About 5 years later, the imperfections began to bother me, because I couldn't read slide presentations at work, or street names at night. A search through my vision care provider showed that Torrance Optometry was walking distance to my house, and I saw some positive reviews on Yelp, so I made an appointment. Due to conflicts I had to reschedule my appointment twice, switching back between Dr. Yu and Dr. Do, but I finally made it in to see Dr. Yu. (I should mention that the staff was helpful and friendly though the chaos of my multiple phone calls.) Dr. Yu shared a similar experience with his eye surgery. He discussed in detail the results of my retina scans, telling me what he was looking for and showing me examples to compare with my own. He also explained that my light near-sightedness would actually become advantageous as I reach the age where people start having difficulty reading up close. He gave me light prescription to help with driving at night and other situations where perfect distance sight is helpful. I've now been seeing Dr. Yu for 6 years, and I couldn't be happier. It is clear that he takes the time refresh his memories of a patient's history before stepping into the room. He is always friendly and takes his time to explain his thoughts and answer all my questions. Looking over some of the other reviews, it looks like you can't go wrong at Torrance Optometry, but I can't help but thinking that fate led me to the individual who was perfect for my needs! read more

I have taken my disabled brother, who is deaf mute, autistic and has mental retardation, to Dr. Dat Do for the past several years. Dr. Do is so kind, thoughtful and patient with my brother. He takes time to help us understand the challenges my brother faces with his diabetes and how it is affecting his sight. The staff that prepares the patients to see the doctor are also very kind and understanding with my brother. This is a great Optometry office. I highly recommend going here. I have been going here since I was very young and Dr. Yu is great. He really explains everything he is doing and makes it easy to understand what is going on with your eyes. He listens to what you want as a patient and tries his best to accommodate you. When I got contacts for the first time one of the staff members helped me for over half an hour to make sure I was comfortable putting them in and taking them out. Dr. Alexander is an extraordinarily caring person and explains everything very clearly to her patients. Her follow-up care and planning are more thorough than other optometrists I've visited. For example, I have the earliest signs of a cataract so Dr. Alexander ordered a more detailed test and had me retake the test three months later. I have several different prescription sets of glasses so all the information can get quite confusing. Lab Manager Letty cut through the confusion and left me a very informative message about all the different sets of glasses and the optimal time to order them.
