We were recommended here by others and this was our first time. My mother made an appointment last month and called again last week to verify that we come in today at 2 pm. We arrived on time but waited a bit because they were on lunch. While waiting, more people arrived. A lady finally opened the door and said "Appointments? One at a time" without asking further questions such as who was there first and what not. The lady then proceeded to go back inside, without even holding the door for my mother, who was hastily walking to the door because it was going to close on her. To make matters worse, when my mother walked in she was told, rudely, that the appointment was only for her, and not for my sister and I. Unprofessional and would not recommend. read more

This place is always exceptional from expertise to customer service. I was really impressed by the way they're taking precautions for the Covid-19 situation by scheduling appts, keeping door locked, wearing masks & having air purifiers throughout the office. It's been 4 years since I'd last seen Dr Yu yet all of my information from my earlier visits was immediately available and was used by Dr Yu to show the changes in my vision. He clearly explained not only my current needs but also pointed out that my glasses from my last visit were still very accurate while the older pair should be retired. The exam I get here is not only extensive but the costs involved addressed in advance since I don't have insurance. The exam results were clearly reviewed and my questions answered to my satisfaction. Getting the glasses I wanted was straightforward and Grace was very helpful in sorting out my questions and concerns. Glasses aren't cheap but I got the high quality pair I wanted at a very fair price. I've been a patient and customer for as long as I can remember and never been disappointed. Dr. Do is hands down my favorite doctor of all time! My friends laugh at me because I talk about him like he is my hair stylist and best friend. I always look forward to my eye check up with Dr. Do! He is very friendly, funny, attentive, remembers you, and is always looking for ways to help me with my vision. I have a really bad eye sight and even with my current insurances that doesn't offer the medically necessary program, he didn't just give up or assume they will say no, he makes the extra steps to see what he can do to help me out. He always goes the extra mile for his patients. My eyes are also very finicky when it comes to contacts and Dr. Do has been super patient and been helping me try out many options and ensures that I am comfortable. He is always there for me when I have questions and he never ever makes me feel rushed and even laughs at my lame jokes! Torrance Optometry makes you feel like you are royalty! Where do I start?!?!?! First of all , HANDS DOWN Dr. Yu is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! This doctor is NOT a salesman! He is a caring doctor that appeared to truly care about my eye health! I felt no pressure to buy contacts or some expensive pair of glasses. Second of all, the eye glasses [and sunglasses] selection is GREAT! I was looking for a different color in a particular frame and they didn't have it there on the spot--- but-- they ordered it asap for me no extra charge! Third of all, Charlotte the receptionist is a great gal! She was super helpful with explaining my billing to me! I also liked how happy the receptionist appear to be---(I have this theory-- if they are b^&thy and miserable, then they must not be paid well, etc...) Lastly, the parking was really easy. 3 star is for the overall experience, but 4 for them making it up to me. A couple weeks ago, I finally got my pair of glasses that I was waiting for. Leti(?) was extremely helpful and sincere when I called for an update. She's basically the person that kept me sane from this whole ordeal that was getting me really annoyed. Five stars for her customer service. Torrance Optometry refunded me a lump of my purchase which was very nice of them. I'm sure most places would not have returned almost half of what their customer paid. They told me that they've warned the optometrist to be more sincere to his customers (lol, but this wasn't the main issue), and what felt like a huge splinter is finally gone. I have been seeing Dr Yu for my optometry care for 10yrs ever since I married my husband who has been seeing him for 20yrs. Dr Yu is always right on target when making an eye disease diagnosis and almost always has multiple treatment options to try for whatever condition or discomfort you may have. The staff here is also great with helping you choose a frame and giving you more info on it like other colors or similar styles. I cannot begin to say how much I would never in 1 million years recommend this place to my worst enemy. I have had the worst experience. Although the staff is super friendly, it's been almost 2 months now that I've waited for my glasses to come in and I've had nothing but problems. Then it turns out the Progressive's they insisted I needed were way too strong and when I said I can't see out of them we went to regular glasses but I still had to pay for progressive's and could not get a refund. It's now May and I still don't have my glasses available and we started this process in early March! DONT GO HERE!!!! read more

Dr Yu has helped our family for many years. He listens well, for example I said I'd rather have the super comfortable disposable contacts and have my astigmatism not corrected rather than wear contacts that fix astigmatism but aren't disposable - and thus less comfortable. He was very understanding and even tweaked the prescription a bit so I could see decently without the astigmatism correction. He's thorough and experienced and caring. Even though we've moved down to Long Beach, our family still makes the trek up to see Dr Yu for our eye checkups. My wife and I have both tried various optometrists in Long Beach, and we have decided that nobody else compares to Dr Yu. read more

Dr. Do is my favorite optometrist and the only one i want to visit for my annual eye exams. He's incredibly fun and well informed. Typically, i've found that eye exams are kind of a pain. Having maybe a 30 minute appointment usually results in eye dilation and not being able to open your eyes for a few hours. At Torrance Optometry, the equipment is the highest grade and most up-to-date. Their focus is to lessen as much discomfort as possible and educate each patient. read more

Dr. Alexander is awesome! She has an excellent chair side manner. She took the time to thoroughly explain why my daughter would benefit more from contacts than regular glasses. My first time here! I've been to a couple other optometrists and I always felt rushed or like I was being pushed a product. Not the case with Dr. Do and his staff. He took the time to thoroughly check out my eyes and get to know my medical history. We walked in and all of a sudden they needed my insurance. We were planning to get something but most optical shop lets you look around first. But here they get your insurance and they do something in their system. When we said we didnt see any glasses that fit on the face of my husband they were saying "bye" in a rude way. We went to Advanced eye care in redondo beach and we ordered a pair of eyeglasses. Advanced eye care said my insurance was locked up to Torrance Optometry. I was so pissed. We didnt want anything from there why would you use my insurance and not telling us?! read more

The staff is quite professional, and their selection of frames is great. However, make sure you're not in a rush because Dr Alexander will talk to you about her children for a minimum of 30 minutes. Something that should take 10 minutes, ends up close to an hour. This has wasted so much of my time, that I am switching doctor's offices. Thorough exam, Doctor Yu was very informative, everyone was friendly and they have great selection of frames on hand! Was having issues with allergies from all the pollen in the air which was causing my contacts to blur and sometimes even come off all together. Dr. Yu helped at first with advice on OTC eye drops and when that didn't work too well he gave a prescription that did the job. I would definitely recommend Dr. Yu to anyone! read more
