Dr. Alexander is an extraordinarily caring person and explains everything very clearly to her patients. Her follow-up care and planning are more thorough than other optometrists I've visited. For example, I have the earliest signs of a cataract so Dr. Alexander ordered a more detailed test and had me retake the test three months later. I have several different prescription sets of glasses so all the information can get quite confusing. Lab Manager Letty cut through the confusion and left me a very informative message about all the different sets of glasses and the optimal time to order them. I have been very happy with the care My family and I have received from Dr. Yu at Torrance Optometry. I recently had LASIK surgery and his before and after care has been exceptional. He is very personable and his exams are very thorough. I never feel like he is rushing when I have an appointment. The office staff is wonderful as well. Very friendly and helpful either when I call, or come in for an appointment. The staff will also always make time to adjust my glasses or sunglasses even if I just pop in without an appointment. Well, after having a "different" experience at a franchise eye care provider, I was looking forward to a small practice that still could offer the style and excellent updated service that The large company had available. Let's just say I found that. I felt comfortable and treated great from the moment I walked in the door. It was great to see the provider sees adults and children. The office is clean and easy to maneuver with my large baby stroller. The only down fall is that they were about 45 minutes late with my appointment starting. Otherwise, once I met with Dr. Do. He and his staff were very informed and explained all procedures easily. I also did not feel pressured to buy or look at things that I didn't need. It's a good place for Torrance in terms of not ripping you and your insurance off, customer service and equipment. However, it seems that the place is understaffed - one and a half hour waiting time when you do have an appointment. While making an appointment, my specific choice of doctor was not heard by the receptionist, something that has never happened to me before. read more

The staff in Torrance Optometry are great. I was 20 minutes late to my appointment, and they were very understanding. I was still able to the see Dr. Yu despite that. Torrance Optometry has been assisting us with our eye needs for several years now. I get my prescription eyeglasses and contact lenses from them. Every time I call Norma, the Office Manager or any body in the office for my contact lenses, they promptly order them for me and would advise me right away once it's ready for pick up. Dr. Jae Yu is very professional and very thorough in telling me if there's any changes in my vision. He would even show me the comparison of my present optomap finding versus previous ones. Their office surrounding is very clean and all equipment are kept clean and tidy. Appointment time is very much observed. Everybody in the office is courteous, warm and friendly. I always feel comfortable every time i go there for my appointment. That is why i think Torrance Optometry deserves FIVE STARS!!! read more

I decided to take my eye exam here since it is close to the place I live in currently. Big mistake. I should have just made the drive and gone to the place I went to last year. I should have listened to the reviews but I decided to give this place a chance. My appointment was at 9:30, I arrived early and I still didn't get seen until after 10:15. I finally got called to do some tests but was sent back to the waiting room. Had to wait again. Then I was called for the exam. The doctor made some small talk and kind of spoke to me in a way that made it seem like I didn't know anything about my prescription. He also said my prescription was low and that I didn't really need glasses. He also asked me if I got glasses to make me seem smarter. My facial expressions must have showed him that his joke wasn't funny. He then explained to me some perks that my insurance offers. At that point I was just done with the place. I left my glasses behind to get their lenses replaced. I was told it would take one to two weeks and I that I would get a text message or a call to notify me of their arrival. It's three weeks today and I haven't received any call or text. Had to make the call myself to see if my glasses arrived. And guess what? They were there for days!!! Just never got a call or text!! I went to go pick them up and they were great! But my overall experience in that place was awful. Giving this place two stars because the glasses that help me look smarter look great and some of the people there were friendly. Like the gentleman who gave me my glasses back but failed to tell me his name. But he was still nice. Avoid this place at all costs!! read more
