This place is definitely pretty on the inside and the drink tower in the middle of the bar is a stand out, for sure (it's all over Instagram). But other than that, I don't see what the big deal is. It has average food, average drinks, and average prices. I do like their tequila flights as it's something I've never personally seen a restaurant offer before but it's not enough to wow me. I prefer a more relaxed atmosphere when eating, and the Promenade is full of pretentious wine bars with predominantly gold digging debutants. Torre is a welcome break from this atmosphere. The serving sizes are excellent for the price, and the servers are attentive without being too officious. The beer list is extensive and a bit overpriced, but nothing outrageous for Center Valley. I would definitely frequent this establishment again with a date or before a movie. Dress code is all over the place: I saw everything from dress vests to T-shirt's so slovenly that it's a wonder how they got in the door. read more

Torre has always been one of our favorite spots in the area and we are always coming back. However now I love it even more after hosting our baby shower there. The upstairs mezzanine was reserved for us and was the perfect space for our 25 guests. It was beautiful, communication/coordination for the event was excellent, and everything went off without a hitch the day of. Carissa was our server and she was incredible. Her skills were impressive- I don't know how she managed our large group without a hitch, balancing multiple requests and needs, all with a smile and without delay, even going up and down all those steps constantly. Even other guests commented on how great she was. All food and drinks were excellent, everyone raved. I will not hesitate to consider Torre again for future events and would absolutely recommend it to anyone. Thank you so much! read more

Coming from New York and having so many different culinary options where to choose from I have not found a Mexican place in the Lehigh valley that top a restaurant in NY well This place is fantastic, service is awesome everyone is very friendly and the manager goes around the tables to make sure everyone is satisfied. We order appetizers because we where very hungry but the food portions are very nice so we ended up enjoying our appetizer as a full meal which was delicious. The drinks are also delicious and the decor of the place is beautiful the menu is awesome too because each item on the menu has a name from a place in Mexico which I thought was a cool idea. Also the menu is in Spanish as well i loved that touch too. Really fun atmosphere and great for happy hours! Outdoor seating is refreshing and I'm obsessed with all the sugar skulls on the walls. Can't go wrong with chips and guacamole and the shrimp tacos are delicious. Wish they would double up on the tortillas because the tacos are loaded so the tortilla always falls apart. But I shouldn't complain about over stuffed tacos, right? Happy hour is definitely a steal. Margaritas are strong and tangy. Once I sat at the bar and the bartender treated us like we were a hassle. I don't know why because a group of four of us each order 2-3 drinks each and ordered apps to split. It was as if he didn't want people seated at the bar. We had a wonderful dinner tonight at Torre. It was the joint 70th birthday celebration for my wife's parents, and the food, ambience and service came together to make it a really special meal. We were helped by the wonderfully patient, knowledgeable and friendly Beth, who took time to answer our questions and went above and beyond to make the birthday folks happy. The drinks were top notch, the brisket nachos were delicious (bring friends if you plan to eat them), and the meats were prepared to perfection. The dinner was so filling we had no room for dessert, so they prepared a tres leches cake and avocado ice cream to-go bag for us. It was a very nice touch. She's wondering where we're going and I said some restaurant called TORRE, let me tell you when we got there.. place was really nice, the decor, my wife loved it.. then came the food--- my wife is a Mexican foodie and she went crazy the food is Amazing , waitress Amazing, my food was Amazing this is now OUR favorite Mexican restaurant hands down.. worth every penny, I'm glad I found this place.. there's no question I'll be back.. the fajitas my wife had were perfect, I had a steak with purple cabbage slaw I never eat slaw! I think this restaurant is having an identity crisis. I recently placed a reservation here for my mother's birthday; I set up the reservation to have "no staff singing." Minutes after I submitted the reservation, I received a call from the restaurant confirming my reservation and affirming that their staff doesn't sing/perform for birthdays (which was a relief) and also disclosed what dessert was offered for special occasions. The quick affirmation and check in was a plus! Knowing about the reputation and high-scale quality of experiences from other Paxos restaurants, I expected to have the same vibe and standard from Torre. The decor and layout of the restaurant are modern, vibrant, and reminiscent of Mexican motifs without being tacky - however, the staff's attire did not at all align with the "somewhat classy" vibe that I received by the look of the design of the establishment. The staff's uniform, to my visual understanding, is a t-shirt (of an assortment of colors, each staff member wearing a different color) with the restaurant's sugar skull on it. The remainder of the staff's outfits is random, most were wearing jeans, but one was wearing YOGA PANTS, which I found extremely unprofessional. Not only is there a lack of uniformity (no pun intended) with the dress code of the staff, but, in my opinion, your staff should never be underdress compared to your guests. Additionally, our server did not even know how to properly pronounce the names of some of the items on the menu/called them by their English translations - I'd like an explanation on how there are staff members of a Mexican restaurant with a menu of entirely Spanish names and yet the staff does not call the menu names by their intended and set names. While obviously fluency shouldn't be required, it is both unprofessional on the server's part, but also disrespectful and offensive to Spanish language as a whole to have a whole restaurant centered around Mexican culture and have your staff not address the menu as such- it is, in my opinion, borderline appropriation of Mexican culture and near proof that the owner of this restaurant is profiting off of Mexican culture without maintaining the integrity of it. Sad. Regarding the food, I would safely say that everything was pretty OK. As a table, we ordered the Fruta Guacamole and Elote (with chips)- I ordered the enfrijoladas de carne. There was nothing really that my parents or I that I would say I would order again or recommend to a friend or other family member. Overall, I'd say the pricing is just a tad over the quality of the fare received. Especially disappointing, however, was the tres leches that came complimentary for my mother- I've tried lots of tres leche that the parents of several of my Latino friends have made and the one that my mom was given was abysmal compared to what I've had before- it tasted more like bread pudding than the sponginess of a tres leches is supposed to have (and my parents agreed). I understand that it is courteous to ask to have food sent back if a guest does not deem it up to standard, but considering it's a cake and also that it was the last dish that was served, I did not consider it worth it. Lastly, the complimentary pickled vegetables and house-spiced peanuts given to us as we were seated are definitely.. a choice. I know that escabeche (Mexican for "pickled [vegetables]") are a thing, but I've never eaten at a Latino restaurant and received anything other than chips, salsa verde and salsa picante. Perhaps Torre wanted to be "different," but, to me, it was a miss. Our server, for the most part, was quick with service, with at least one moment in which it took her quite a bit to get me my cocktail, but other than that, she provided extremely friendly and rapid service! Overall, as a lover of all food Latin American/Hispanic, I was pretty unimpressed, unfortunately. I highly recommend the creative staff to get a good look at their idea and vision for this restaurant and re-work it. read more

Kind of odd how I was turned away this afternoon by the hostess because the don't do take-out orders because of their system was down. First I ever heard this. There were a couple of ways we could have improvised at getting my order made, unfortunately I kept my composure and spent my money elsewhere. I'm Stanley R. and welcome to... Time To Talk about Tacos!!! Let's start with me! Just today I dined at Torre for the first time. As a Torre noob, I was totally fascinated by the revolving door entrance. I have a pretty hard time with those :/ ;P because as I child I got my head stuck in one! And oh yeah, it hurt. But this door was more than big enough for comfort and a fun little ride into an even more fun restaurant ;) Such delicious decor in this place. There were cool skulls lining the wall, presumably for the more gothic younger crew. I'm an old timer but I loved 'em too! And there's a room full of kegs! I wish I could just lock myself into that room and hang out there for life ;P I was dining with a good bud of mine named Chris for his birthday today (happy bday bro, if youre reading this!), and what a great time we had! After perusing the drink menu for a few minutes (and the lovely waitresses lol!) neither of us could decide because there were so many mouthwatering choices! We both got sangria (we are comfortable with our masculinity) and a founders IPA! Both so great that we sucked 'em right down and got a little lunchtime tipsy :P I ordered the crispy chicken tacos and all I can say is... WOW THESE ARE REALLY GOOD! Yummy mango pico de gallo and guacamole inside... if you don't love these, your soul is probably dead! My buddy Chris got the brisket tacos and holy cow were they good. The atmosphere was fun, but that is the only positive. The waitstaff acted as if we were an annoyance at the high top table by the bar. We decided to move to the bar where the service got worse. The bartenders seemed clueless. Answering our question about tequila with the exact same answer given to a man next to us who asked about a mixed drink. I feel bad giving two stars to a restaurant that obviously put a lot of effort into its food and atmosphere, but for the prices that they charge, I can't recommend it. Torre bills itself as "modern Mexican cuisine", which I can't disagree with. As far as the food is concerned, the "modern" element is that they prefer the acidic/citrus flavors over the usual savory/spicy. After you order drinks, they serve complimentary pickled vegetables. You should use this as a gauge of what's to come, as this flavor is present in every menu item, even when it doesn't make sense. The onus is on you to pick the menu items where it actually works. There is a jalapeno margarita on the menu that pairs perfectly for this ubiquitous flavor. I would say that it's a no-brainer, but each glass costs 11 (eleven!) dollars. Sangria is usually a safe fallback for a Mexican restaurant, and if made correctly, a cheap way to get your fill of booze. However, it is not cheap ($8 a glass, no pitchers), nor potent (you will think you're drinking Kool Aid). We had the shrimp ceviche to start, which obviously worked with the acidic flavor that I can't repeat enough in this review. Ceviche is usually served with only a light coating of citrus; however this had all the goodies swimming in it. Overall, it was tasty, even if it felt like you were bobbing for apples. For entrees, I had the brisket tosadas that were on special and my wife had the shrimp tacos. The brisket had a disappointing lack of char, but it was moist, excessively moist, it was a deluge. I couldn't tell if the moisture was from retained beef juice, or the vinegary concoction, but the liquids turned it into mush and the result was a flavorless mess. There were also re-fried beans and cheese which should have contributed something, but there were equally flavorless. I think a little bit of salt would have gone a long way for this dish. The shrimp tacos were better suited for the acidic flavor. They definitely tasted better for this reason alone, but they were still soggy from the excessive juices. As far as I can tell, any "shell based" food on this menu will be a complete mess. I would not order these if you're on a date, as there is no civilized way of eating these. You could opt for the entrees that are sans-shell, but they're twice as expensive. You can't win. All of these complaints aside, the food is mostly tasty. The ingredients are fresh and the recipes are original even if they're mis-executed. I would be more forgiving if the price was on-par with the quality. Each item on the menu is a few dollars more than it should have been, and when this is applied to every single item, the total becomes excessive. At these prices, you should be getting the best Mexican food of your life, but as it currently stands, you get a soggy mess in a chic atmosphere. read more

We had heard good things about the restaurant and thought we'd check it out. We ordered drinks and my wife's sparkling wine was fłat. When we told the waitress, she rolled her eyes when we asked for a replacement. That was our first warning of what to expect We next ordered guacamole and salsa. When the dishes were delivered they were ice cold. The salsa looked like it was placed in a blender since we couldn't identify it since it was the consistency of mashed potatoes and the guacamole was little cubes of avacado and was flavorless. When our entrees arrived, my chicken mole was undercooked and my wife's shrimp had the flavor cooked out of it. The bill for two drinks each appetizers and our meal was over $100. I've had better Mexican (even in the Lehigh Valley) for less than half the price. If you're looking for good Mexican I suggest trying another location in the Valley. The one other item that was strange was the pictures of Flamenco dancers and bullfighters. Do the owners know the difference between Spain and Mexico? read more

If three stars is "A-Ok" according to Yelp! then Torre was two stars for me. I love Mexican food. It might be my favorite (look at my past reviews). Some of the best have been the hidden hole in the wall places but I get that this was high end Mexican. I gave it a shot because I received a $50 gift card from a friend for (last) Christmas. The decor is beautiful, especially the bar. Nothing else impressed me, however. The guacamole was good but when the most basic plain guac is $10 and I know how much good guac should cost, the price factors into my evaluation. We also order a quesadilla. Below average. Little flavor. Tres ceviches. Average. Two orders of tacos. Both below average. To be fair, these still cost more than they should be but more fairly priced. I don't mind paying for food as long as the quality is there. Restaurants should understand their prices and, thus, expectations should meet the quality. This was not the case here. This was average to below average food. Knowing I can get amazing Mexican food for 1/2 the price takes away from this experience. Won't be going back unless I get another gift card. read more

We decided to try this new restaurant on the Wednesday evening before Thanksgiving with a party of 7. In summary, the food was a step above average, yet has some weak points, and the dining room has some work needed. The service was above average, but far from perfect. Prices reasonable. 1. Food. Skirt steak excellent. Pollo Mole ok. Guacamole was unique, yet under seasoned (more salt was requested but required a wait until waitress brought some over). Tacos were too expensive. Mahi Mahi was good but needed more suace. 2. Drinks. Sangria was a bust - weak and uninteresting. Rest of the party had soft drinks. 3. Decor. Well decorated, however the restaurant is only 2 weeks old and already has lights with the bulbs blown. A bit tacky for a restaurant in this price range. I've been excited about Torre since I heard about it a while ago, and I'm glad I got a chance to go. It's crazy new, so I expected some kinks. But man, it was clear they weren't ready for a Friday night at the Promenade. It was packed, and there was barely room to maneuver at the bar. Service was friendly - but slow. The managers were either running around like crazy, or yelling at the poor bartenders (barely) trying to keep up with orders. The ambiance is great - it's clear they put a lot of thought into the decor. The tequila tower is disappointing, though, I won't lie. One thing: Ladies, there are hooks at the bar for your purse, but they're spread crazy far apart. Really the only negative for me was the price for portion. The house margs were small, lots of ice, and not lots of tequila. Still, tasty. The food wasn't bad, but $12 for 3 of the smallest tacos I've ever seen? Ehhhhh. I'm looking forward to going back in the future, after things have settled and the kinks have (hopefully) worked themselves out. read more

Paxos does it right once again! Despite being open only a few weeks, I had a brunch experience here that rivals their established restaurants. When we arrived at 12:45 for our reservation, we took the last open table downstairs. We had water before I knew it and the service was spot on all afternoon. Menu questions were easily answered and I got hungrier watching other folks' plates go past me. I ordered the blood orange mimosa with the huevos rancheros. The cocktail was delicious & refreshing - the huevos rancheros were the best I've had in the Valley, hands down. The avocado was particularly fresh & delicious. The portion was bigger than I could handle, so I had a great dinner that night as well. I pushed my husband to dessert - the churros were piping hot and the chocolate sauce worked well with the slight chili influence to the sugar. The restaurant is gorgeous and very comfortable. Great night, great restaurant. I absolutely loved this place. The staff is excellent, service excellent with a very lively atmosphere. Our food was delicious and diverse. We sampled the tequila flights and they were a great pairing with the spicy salsa and guacamole! Next on to the entrees, we all sampled each others dishes from crab cakes to Mahi Mahi, Salmon and pulled pork tacos and they were all phenomenal ! The only drawback to the whole evening was parking. On a Saturday it is a challenge. I learned they do offer valet parking available in front of Melt Restaurant so if we return again on a weekend, I will be sure to utilize this service. I was looking forward to trying this place after it opened and once I saw the glowing tower of alcohol through the windows, I had to make reservations. Before dining here, I went for drinks at the bar with coworkers. The atmosphere was inviting and the service was friendly. The space was extremely tight and it took a while to get drinks. Drink orders got mixed up and bills needed correction. I understand new jitters but it was super frustrating. My husband, myself and our friends decided to make reservations for dinner on a Saturday night. Our reservation was at 6:30 which we arrived promptly for. Unfortunately, a table was not available for us and we were left waiting at the front door near the hostess podium. The waiting area is extremely small and has one tiny bench which was already being occupied. It was freezing as the rotating door was constantly in movement. We waited nearly 15 min despite being told that we would be seated momentarily. We were seated upstairs which was cool however, if you thought the music was loud downstairs, it's even worse upstairs. I felt like I was shouting throughout most of our meal. Appetizers were decent but definitely over priced for the portion sizes. The food was just not that exciting and the portions were very small as well. I was blown away by how miniature the tacos were; smaller than the palm of my hand. We decided to get sides to share which were described to us as generous portions. No way!! I couldn't believe a cup of beans could be $5. Drinks were tasty but seemed to lack, what's it called? Oh alcohol. Overall, atmosphere was cool and service was friendly but we will not be running back to Torre anytime soon. read more

Casa toro has no worries! $12.00 for shot of cabo wabo tequila. Enchiladas and tacos are small servings at $10-12 each. The entrees are $20-25 and not huge. The flank steak and filets looked great. There was a real lack of sauce on many of the dishes. Apps were awful, really dry and small servings. Had a pitcher of casa margarita and was good, but weak. I would go for atmosphere, loved the tower (torre). Although, would also be better if they turned the lights down a little. read more

I couldn't be more happy with my visit here. Being a waitress myself, I tend to be very skeptical of the service when I go out to eat. But I truly was so impressed with our waitress. She was so kind and helped us get through the menu easily, which we needed considering it is a little unorthodox. Not only was the service great but the food was absolutely amazing! We got nachos to start, and then tacos, enchiladas, Spanish rice and Mexican fries. Everything was incredible. The atmosphere inside is also so beautiful and modern. I am not 21 but the bar was so crazy busy and is absolutely beautiful. A lot of my friends who are of age have been going there all the time and absolutely love it.
