If you're even considering painting your car, go to Torres Auto Body. I can't recommend them enough! They took my 2008 Scion XB from its factory paint to a new color and it looks AMAZING. I've had several mechanics comment about how thorough and professional the paint job is and have gotten comments from strangers about how nice the car looks. Ernesto took care of us from start to finish from our first phone call to choosing colors and finishes, and all the way through the process (I'm also a worry wart, and made me feel supported the whole way through). He was honest, transparent, and helpful every step of the way. Along with the paint job they also replaced my front bumper, replaced my entire headlight assembly, swapped all my lights with LEDs, and replaced my window seals. I seriously can't recommend them enough and they paint evvvvverything (commercial trucks, cars, RVs, motorcycles, etc.). I live in the Bay Area and it was worth the drive to go to Torres. No shop in the bay would touch my car or they quoted me outrageous prices (one dude laughed when I told him I wanted my Scion painted). I was sent to Torres Auto Body by a reputable vanagon shop in the Sacramento Area, who claimed to send its project cars there, and an endorsement from another van owner in the bay area. My experience was a nightmare that culminated in my losing two installments of 4k or 2/3rds of the total project cost of a full restoration paint job, and all i got was a sanding, hasty filler and a primer spray that was later confirmed to be unsatisfactory. I waited to write this review until Torres' work was reviewed by another paint shop, who I needed to employ to finish, or should I say begin the work that I'd already paid Torres Auto Body to complete. My initial consult, drop off etc all went smoothly, Ernie is very genial, I was confident in this shop based on who referred me, and didn't read other red flag reviews in recent years. After only a few months I received a call saying work was going along quickly and requesting the second installment. I thought, 'magnificent' and sent payment immediately. This is where I made a critical mistake in not verifying further. In truth, little to no work had been done to this point, and little to no work was going to be completed thereafter. What followed was a a year and a half (December '21 - August '23) of frustrating ignored texts and phone calls and awkward visits to the shop. Excuses about labor shortages and every other excuse you can imagine, new deadlines that would be completely missed. His shop was obviously busy turning over insurance jobs (you can see that on his instagram), but no work was being done on my project. No updates unless I got aggressive, a handful of photos to keep me at bay, just chasing Ernie around with calls and texts. I asked the Vanagon shop that referred me to help, but they shied away from the situation entirely. Finally after 1.5 years, I gave up and came to pick up my van, primer grey. Ernie said that solid work HAD been performed under the primer and I could rest assured that all I needed was to have it sprayed with color, but this turned out to be untrue. I will say that Ernie was always polite and apologetic, but I think the hustle that's being run (deliberately or otherwise) is collecting 2 of 3 installments of a total job, and then doing zero work on the car for so long that you just come and pick the car up as is, and somehow feel lucky walking away with anything. It should be noted they did reassemble and tidy my unpainted car well enough and returned it to me in working order for me to drive it home, which was a pleasant surprise given what i expected. Initially I just felt fortunate to have my van back, but given more time to reflect, this is a very dishonest business practice and I'm writing this review in hopes nobody has to go through this experience - as the stress and disappointment was significant, not to mention my financial loss. read more

I bought my first car and it was a 2000 Ford Mustang in early September 2000. I promised myself I would always keep my car even if I bought another car. This past fall it was finally time to get a new engine and a paint job. I got the engine taken care of at Florin Automotive and they recommended Torres Auto Body to do the paint job. I met with the owner, Ernie. He's a very friendly and honest person. Along with the paint job of the original color, I also asked to make sure I could get the same decals. I also needed a new front bumper, new headlights and have the back license plate holder fixed. I dropped off my car on October 20 and the car was ready to pick up on December 21. Ernie sent me picture updates on the job being done during that time. My car had its paint peeling on the hood, spoiler, back bumper, top of the car and it had a scratch on the passenger door side. Overall the paint on the entire car was fading. He and his team did an outstanding job with everything. They also surprised me by cleaning the radio panel as it used to have a foggy look to it but now it's crystal clear. When I drove my car home I noticed the wipers were not working. I drove it back to Ernie and then I noticed the driver side window wasn't working. He began to look into it and later suggested I take it to Florin Automotive to get it fixed. Ernie said he was happy to help pay for the repair. It turned out no new parts were required. Something was left disconnected and it was reconnected. Ernie kept his word and wrote me a check to get that fixed. I'm very happy with the work Ernie and his team did. I have a brand new car like it was 21 years ago. I have driven my car to different places such as McClellan Air Force Base, Beale Air Force Base and Travis Air Force Base so it's very special to me. I recently toted a family heirloom, a full Art Deco bedroom set, across country from Oklahoma to Sacramento. This was a family heirloom from the 30s which had been gifted to me. My grandmother suggested that I reach out to an auto body shop to have it repainted given that it is all metal. My husband assured me no one would want to take on this task. So glad to say he was wrong. I went to yelp for a list of options. Torres autobody was not the first on the list but for some reason the first one I reached out to. Ernie/Ernesto answered the phone. He did not tell me no right off the bat which I pretty well expected. I sent photos and he was totally game. He quoted what I thought was an extremely reasonable price and I was happy to pay to have it restored. The next day I drove it over to his shop and my mother, half jokingly said, "you're gonna have this ready tomorrow, right?" I guess he took that serious. about 24 hours later he called me letting me know it was ready, sending pictures. It looked so great! I couldn't believe how quickly he had gotten it done. Someone could get it done quickly but it may not look good. Ernie had it looking probably better than it did the first time and at a really great price. Lastly but very importantly, he was able to match the paint color exactly which was so huge. This will certainly not be the last time that we visit Ernie. This place did great work for me 3 years ago. My 2nd project I brought here in 2022 was a nightmare. Now, before I continue, I did make 1 change to my project alone the way. However, Ernie agreed to the modification with added fees, but he never did them. My car sat for over a year until I just lost my patience and took the car back to do the modification I wanted done to another shop - thats another story, but long story short the car was further damaged during transport. I asked Ernie if he can just fix the damages, forget about the changes I wanted and just finish the car, with obviously added costs - Ernie just said he had no time for my project anymore, I had to cut my losses. Fyi, I paid $4,000 deposit on an originally $8,000 paint job, I think we would have been up to about $12k if the job was done, if my est are right. My personal opinion, unless you have an insurance job or a company with deep, deep pockets that can supply steady work - take your project elsewhere. read more

Torres auto body didn't give me a complete quote on all the damages on my vehicle. It is the bodyshop responsibility to give a complete quote before starting on repair to the insurance company. They did the body work and then requested more money from my insurance, which went over the amount of salvaging my vehicle. The problem they claim for was for a power inverter on a prius, which threw an obd2 code with check engine light on, which I already checked and told them before the repairs. Torres Auto Body is the absolute best! We recently redid our 1955 trailer we went to Ernesto to paint the exterior. Ernesto was a great communicator. He was great at educating us on what could and should be done to our trailer. We decided to reskin the trailer and when new new skin came from another company it was damaged. Ernesto himself spent many hours repairing the damage from the shipping companies mistakes. This aluminum is hard to work with and Ernesto magically made the damage disappear. He used photos from the old aluminum and paint to replicate the exact design onto the new trailer skins. He also perfectly color matched the old yellow paint color onto this new trailer skin. Ernesto also sent photo updates along the way. My entire family was truly amazed by the work Ernesto did. My trailer looks absolutely stunning and I know the paint will last for many years. I initially contacted Ernesto to make sure he could help me within a timeframe with a specific turnaround as the damage done to the vehicle was not known to the owner as I was borrowing it. Stop looking around; THIS is the auto body shop you need to contact first. They are honest, hard-working, and they LISTEN to the customer before giving genuine advice on what is best for the car/customer. Anyone who deals with cars knows that it's hard to find honest, caring people in this industry and Torres Auto Body now has a customer for LIFE. Short version: I needed any body shop to re-secure my muffler's heat shield and luckily found Torres Auto Body close by my house. Ernie (owner) was honest and straightforward. He took the time to listen to my LONG list of issues that resulted from the incident to discuss my options. He went beyond helping with the heat shield. I had some STUBBORN bolts locking in my rear seats and Ernie and his crew even helped me get those out at no extra charge, even cutting loose one bolt that I broke. We set an appointment for another morning to address my heat shield and I was in and out in less than an hour for my issue. I was even given an extra piece of insulation for when I re-install my seats after removing the damaged carpet. Superb communication and customer service. HIGHLY Recommend. Long version: I had an issue with my exhaust system and heat shield that caused burning and damage to the interior of my car. After my muffler was replaced by the muffler shop, they mentioned to me that they would not fix or secure my heat shield as it was hanging halfway off already. They told me I had to go to a body shop to get it addressed. (This was such an easy task and they basically lied about being unable to help but I didn't want to argue with the tech as he seemed hell-bent on not helping me.) So, I turned to Yelp and I found Torres Auto Body close by. Gave them a call and was told to bring it in for a free evaluation. Ernie (owner) was extremely patient in listening to the long list of issues I went through. He waited so patiently as I listed them out before he offered his help. The main job was to just re-secure my muffler's heat shield but I mentioned that I wanted to clean up the burnt interior pieces to eliminate the horrid burnt smell. I was frustrated and mentioned there were bolts in the interior I couldn't get out on my own. I realized I was rambling and said, "But, I just need you guys to do the heat shield." Ernie mentioned they could not get to me the same day, but he then offered to send a tech out and help me get the interior bolts off. I forget the tech's name but he came out and helped me with stubborn bolts and wouldn't let me leave until we actually had the rear seats loose! He went above and beyond the task. Then, they sent me on my way to come back for my appointment. Ernie worked with my schedule and allowed for me to come in early in the morning. I show up and they tackle the heat shield issue. I was in and out in probably 30 minutes if I didn't chat up the guys when they asked me if everything went well with the interior clean up. They patch me up and I go to pay; they only charged me for an hour of labor. Their expertise, advise, and extra effort definitely took more than an hour. They genuinely wanted to help ME, not just address my issue. Ernie then came back with some added insulation for when I put my seats back in. I can express enough how good it feels to know that there is someone as honest and genuine in the auto body world. They've gained a customer for life in me. I had a good vibe from talking with the owner, Ernesto, before I ever brought my vehicle in. That was confirmed when I did bring it in--and Ernesto drove me to pick up my insurance rental and waited to make sure they had a car for me, during update texts he sent, and when I picked it up. (I have a large, long vehicle and had made a wrong turn into a curved drive-through ATM lane at my bank made for cars. Should have backed up to get out but thought I could navigate through, which I could have if the lane were straight--but it wasn't. I hit a post low down on the passenger side where I couldn't see it readily in the side view mirror as I made the slight turn to exit and did some ugly, though relatively minor body damage. I searched online for body shops that had experience with my model and that led me to Torres.) He and his crew did beautiful work--back to new condition--and sent me on my way with factory touch-up paint, in case of future scratches, etc. In all business, it's the relationship that matters most; I feel like Ernesto and the crew at Torres and I are family now. Ernesto took advantage of my family and left us with more stress and hurt than before. My father brought his 1990 Cadillac Deville in to be painted and it was there for 2 years. My father passed away and Ernesto was M.I.A for the most part or continued to say they were "searching" for parts. He did not ever send updates or contact us , unless My step mom reached out to him. They had already made at least half the payment and were waiting to pay off the rest after the job was done. After so much run around and back and forth I went down there. He informed me that his worker that was working on this job quit and he wasn't sure what he did with parts from the car. I tell him I will give him 2 more weeks and he shook my hand and gave me his word. My step mother picked it up and when I got the vehicle it's in worse condition than EVER. before it was just some paint chips now it's TERRIBLE. the car is now missing outside trim, mediocre paint job with chips in it, door panels are not put back on and damaged rom hanging off and bent out of shape now, some are even torn in half, door panels fasteners are missing, missing different interior lights, wiring is ripped out and not reconnected, none of the windows work now, there's a hole in the radiator that we had replaced, the trunk latch is missing, and front fender turn signals are destroyed. I can't believe that someone would do business this way, after giving me his word. We are completely saddened by this. My dad loved this car and now it's in shambles. Shame on you Ernesto! I accidentally scratched and dented the bottom passenger side door when I was trying to exit a parking lot. After I noticed the damage, I frantically called multiple auto shops around me but most of them required an appointment to look at the damage. But once I called Torres Auto Body shop, the owner was able to look at my car the same day I called, which I highly appreciate!! It took about a week for them to fix it.
