Th set up reminded me a lot of the road side BBQ places I used to frequent when I was in the army in North Carolina. The food here is epic. We very much enjoyed the dinner we had at Torrey Grill and BBQ. I had the Dinosaur Ribs, which were excellent. I tried three of the sauces and preferred the chili and sweet and spicy sauces. This is a MUST! This BBQ place is truly the best! We read the reviews and actually stayed at the campground Thousand Lakes because of it. The atmosphere is great. I love the outdoor feel with amenities of being indoors. It rained so hard while we dined and we stayed dry but had the feel of outdoor dining. The chef is personable, passionate and so friendly. And...he even has tofu! Everything was OUTSTANDING! The meats were tender, perfectly seasoned and nice sizes. The coleslaw tasted like a pina colada...with hints of pineapple and coconut. The mashed potatoes were the best we have ever had! The cornbead and honeybutter was unforgettable! Please do not miss this place. Absolutely lovely BBQ place! Seeing as there aren't too many options, we did want a meaty dinner but we didn't want to give our business to our hotel (Capitol Reef Resort), we decided to come check this place out. It is located on an RV site, which I wasn't aware of until I pulled up. The restaurant is located behind the general store. You can BYOB or buy some beers in the store, like we did. The restaurant does sell sodas though. There are plenty of meaty options to choose from but we both went with ribs. They tasted great and the meat fell right off the bone. The garlic mashed potatoes tasted wonderful as well. We were both filled up by our portions. They do also have some desserts for the sweet tooths among us. Oh, and you get a cute little appetizer as well. Pricing was all round reasonable and the staff was very friendly. They also have an adorable indoor fireplace (gas, so don't worry you won't smell) and cute decorations. We even found our native flag (Belgium) proudly hung on a post. Traveling in Utah from Pasadena/Los Angeles area we were lucky to find this gem of a location for some delicious barbecue. The food: I ordered the tri tip dinner with garlic mashed potatoes and boy it did not disappoint. The tri tip was tender and juicy and needed little to no sauce at all. All three barbecue sauces were delicious if you wanted some extra flavor. The mashed potatoes had great flavor as well. The meal came with two bread sides, one was a spicy cornbread of sorts with a honey butter (I think that's what I was supposed to pair it with) this also was very tasty. The other bread was more like a fluffy naan or pita bread with a spicy butter, so good! My boyfriend ordered the combo with baked beans which he said was also delicious. Drinks: the mint lime is surprisingly really good. The location was a little random inside of the campground/RV park but it worked. The dining area was nice with a large fire pit and picnic tables to eat your food at. The staff was super friendly and chatted with us before we left and gave us some tips for the rest of our trip which was awesome! Final notes, if you are in the area visiting Capitol Reef NP definitely take the time to stop here and enjoy the food, people and atmosphere! We will be back on our next trip to Utah! read more

They have three BBQ sauce options that pair perfectly with the meat. But the best part of this place is the sides! We had beets with cucumber and nuts, and orange coleslaw. They were both very refreshing and delicious, perfect for a very hot summer day! Moreover, the chef gave us an appetizer treat that was delicious! We are on a 2 day adventure in Capital Reef and found Torrey Grill & BBQ and boy were we happy. It is right behind an RV Park and is a lil hole in the wall gem! You sit at picnic tables which is fun and there's a play area for kids outside! We got salmon-amazing, tri-tip-superb, chicken-delicious & ribs-yummy! It came with flatbread to start, 2 sides, potatoes were great and cornbread-just ok. After that you get a small dessert of your choice. We should have gotten the s'mores, they looked good! Nice place but hard to find. The RV park that it's in is at the extreme edge of town. We had the tri tip and it was fine as were the sides. Meals also come with flat bread and house-made pimento cheese and a corn muffin. Again, both were good but the flat bread cheese portion seemed stingy. The only desserts available were the hot fudge brownie with ice cream and the ice cream sandwich made with chocolate chip cookies. They were good. You pay before you sit and get your food. They call your number when your food is ready and you have to pick it up from the window. This isn't a big deal but it was hugely annoying that I had already added a tip to my payment. From the reviews I thought this was going to be a great meal. Ordered the ribs and pineapple slaw. The slaw was good. Hubby ordered the chicken and corn. He could taste the gas. Both were served with a strange tasting, crumbly piece of bread shaped like an ear of corn. You place your order at a small window. I'm not sure if the young woman was in the mood to work or not. Either way she put out little effort, hated bothering her "nap" to order. Received small paper cups, a couple of paper napkins and utensils. We sat down at picnic tables on gravel and a bell was rung when our food was ready. There was a table with extra napkins and a water dispenser. Okay, here is where the annoyance really takes hold. I paid $49 with tip for four ribs, half a chicken, and three tablespoons of sides and had to pick up the food at a fast food window. I should have paid my hubby the tip, he set the table, got the drinks, picked up the food when summoned by the bell, and cleaned up our plates. We had Tri Tip, Beans, Ribs, Potatoes , cucumber salad and Creamed Corn. All of it was fantastic and right up there with KC BBQ. The white bbq sauce was amazing with the tri tip. If you're on vacation and have stopped counting the money you spend, this is probably a fine place to have dinner. Don't eat here if you look at prices before deciding what to order. This is a tourist restaurant inside a lodging (in this case, an RV park), and should be approached with the same expectations you'd have for a resort hotel restaurant. First, the good: The food was fine, the staff were friendly, and the dining tent was clean and comfortable. Your meal is complimented with a piece of flat bread and a corn muffin which each have tasty garnishes. The cob corn in particular was great - be sure to have some if you wind up here. Prices range from $18 (the "Vegetarian Platter") to $24 (a sampler of chicken, beef and spare rib) and $29 (a ribeye steak), and if you split a platter there's an $8 surcharge. From this, we inferred that splitting a platter would reasonably feed two people and ordered the sampler platter and a second side. However, the portion that came out was clearly for a single person and we both left still hungry. There were a few distinct problems: * The meats were fine but didn't come close to what I expect from a $24 entree, either in tastiness or quantity. * The $8 sharing charge apparently covers a piece of flat bread, a corn muffin, and a cooler drink for the second diner - that's it. The entree isn't even sent out on two dishes - you have to split it yourself. * There was no way we could've anticipated what would come out from looking at the menu, besides grilling the cashier (pun intended). I feel a little guilty leaving a 2-star review, since the only real problem we had was the price-to-value ratio - again, the staff were nice, the food was okay, and the space was fun. Partly the experience was our fault for looking at resort-restaurant prices and misinterpreting those as large-platter prices, but frankly I can't imagine ever recommending this place to a friend. read more

This is a great find! Highly recommend this place! The food is great, the atmosphere is great, and the people are great. I had my puppy with me and the cook was really nice and brought out some meat treats for him. Their sauces are delicious with a little kick. The mushrooms were made to perfection. My boyfriend had the smoked pork ribs. They were fresh and the meat just fell off the bone. What a find! Thanks previous reviewers as that is what brought us there. Some of the friendliest staff you will come across. Enjoyed the pork spare ribs with beans and the tri tip with beet salad. Tri tip was as moist as could be. It was a rainy and cold evening and the fireplace and warm food certainly hit the spot! Yes, it is in a RV campground.....but I think that is what makes it even more relaxing. If they would have had a pot of good coffee and some extra chairs around the fire pit we would still be there. Come here just to relax, eat some great comfort food and chat with the staff. When we mentioned we needed to get back to our camper to our three dogs the chef made us a doggy bag of terrific scraps that I have just watched them inhale. read more

Holy yes. In the middle of an RV park? Amazing. Not only is the brisket wonderful, but all the sides are great as well. The sauces could be a meal all themselves. We also loved the place itself -- picnic tables on gravel surrounding a fire pit. There's a large table running through the middle of the eating area. It was great to meet others who had previous experience with the place. It's rare to have a restaurant where you feel at home chatting with other patrons; this is that kind of place. The desserts are simple - brownies with ice cream - but really well done. I wish we would have tried this on our first night - so we could have had it twice on our trip. read more

Cute little place with terrible music and over inflated prices. Got the combo platter, comes with two meats and only 1 side for $33. I'd love to tell you the portions were appropriate, but that wasn't the case. We chose beef and chicken with the beans and added a side of creamed corn. The beef was tender and tasty! The chicken was just a leg. It was moist, but underwhelming. The $5 side of corn came in a tiny little cup. It was delicious, but I wouldn't pay $5 for it again. The tiny little cup of beans was mostly peppers, which we didn't want. I did appreciate the yummy array of sauce choices, and they didn't even charge extra for that! We would have loved the strawberry shortcake for dessert but when we saw the portion size for $6, we said no thanks. Oh, the platter also included a very small cornbread muffin. We had to pay $4 to get two more of those tiny little muffins. $1.50 for a generic bottle of water. Is this Torrey, Utah or friggin' New York City?! read more
