This is a great find in Torrey! Delicious barbecued pork ribs, grilled salmon, smoked chicken and more. The sides are homemade gourmet: creamed corn made with fresh corn, celery, bell pepper, peas and a touch of heavy cream; Hawaiian cole slaw that is uniquely flavorful with cabbage, carrots, pineapple and coconut; delicious poblano baked beans; etc. We didn't have room for dessert, but the fruit cobbler was tempting. It is a rustic setting with picnic tables, cute decor and a cozy fire in the middle of the room. Don't be deterred because it is located in an RV Park (Thousand Lakes Cabins & RV Park). So I am super picky about barbecue, but anytime you see a place that's got its own smoker out back, you know it's gonna be good. This place exceeds even that. Total hidden gem, the location is inside of the campground, so if you're not staying there, it may not be obvious of a location from the road. You get a huge meal for what it costs, I couldn't eat all of it and I ended up having smoked chicken for a mid morning break while out hiking the next day. If you're in Torrey, definitely a go to. Chef Peter is a master with barbecue! We had the half smoked chicken and the smoked salmon. Both were incredibly prepared with just enough smoke to taste great, but not so intense as to mask the taste or dry them out! The sides were amazing as well! The mashed potatoes were great (no gravy necessary) and the baked beans were awesome (great smoked flavor enhanced by poblano peppers)! Peter's take on pimento cheese as a starter was very good as well! We will be stopping back in to eat with him again when we are back in the area!! Highly recommended!! We are on an RV road trip and didn't want to cook tonight. We came across a flier for this place in town and decided to check it out. The atmosphere is cool and the food is very good. The starter of flat bread and pimiento cheese was delicious and the chef gave us a sample of the tri tips, also quite tasty. We had the smoked chicken and ribs and finished with the homemade brownie and ice cream. Service was friendly in the restaurant, too. All in all, a great treat in a remote location! read more

Ok. Definitely not as amazing as some reviews would have you believe. I took my family and we tried pretty much everything on the menu. Nothing was "great". Ribs were the best (but fairly average). Salmon and tri-tip were both ok. Ribeye was a bit tough. Chicken was dry and no better than the rotisserie chicken at Costco. The atmosphere was pretty cool, and one of our kids commented that more restaurants should be like this. Overall seemed a bit over-priced, but hard to know what to expect in the middle of nowhere. Definitely NOT the best BBQ anywhere, or even in southern Utah for that matter. Went here because of all the 4 & 5 star reviews. Our fellow Yelpers don't usually lead us astray, but be foreward, this place does NOT live up to the hype. Plus, it's very expensive for the setting - it's not a brick-and-mortar restaurant: wood outbuilding in a RV park, complete with picnic tables & plastic plates /flatware, do-it-yourself condiments, do-it-yourself table bussing. Walk up to the window to place your order (can you say "no table service"??) I don't think the gal taking food orders ever got off her stool the entire time we were there. Now there's a job for you! No adult beverages are offered here, only sodas, lemonade, water (and you have to help yourself to those, too.) Complimentary flatbread from the chef was brought to us - we just looked at it as it was unlike we had ever seen before. A scoop of 'something' atop what looked like a flat round grilled piece of bread. We're game to try new things so we spread the 'something' and took a bite. Just as strange tasting as strange looking. One bite was enough. As for the food, the Tri-tip was very good and tender. Pork ribs were dry. Side of pineapple slaw was o.k. but very watery. We could taste the garlic in the mashed potatoes, but potates weren't creamy at all, almost like they were made with water, not milk. The Jalapeno cornbread was dry and not tasty. Had a most fabulous dinner tonight at Torrey Grill & BBQ. My husband and I are staying at Thousand Lakes RV Park and decided to eat at the restaurant onsite. First let me say, you do not have to be a guest of the park to eat here. We split a rib dinner that came with an appetizer, main, a side, a piece of loaded corn bread with pecan honey butter and a drink. If you do a split they charge $8 more but you get an additional appetizer, side, corn bread and drink. I'm not complaining because there was plenty of food for two for less than thirty bucks. We even carried in our own bottle of wine with zero corkage fee. Unheard of from where we live in the California wine country. I want to talk about the pork ribs. My husband saw the chef today at around 9:00 this morning and he was getting the fire started. I'm not sure how long he cooked them but they were fall off the bone tender. Seasoned to perfection they do not need any sauce, but if you wanted some he had spicy, sweet, smokey and white barbecue sauces. There is a sign inside the restaurant that say everything is made from scratch and that truly shows in all of their food. We did not eat a dessert because we had no more room, but the couple next to us did. It was a huge brownie with ice cream and chocolate sauce for $4. If you are anywhere within a twenty mile radius, you should be eating dinner here! read more

Some of the best barbecue I've ever had. Not only were the ribs smoked to perfection, this little place in the back of an RV Park has a ton of charm. Everyone was so nice and the special side was perfectly sautéed mushrooms that the chef picked off of a nearby mountain that morning! That's dedication. Well worth a stop if you're nearby. read more

Honestly I don't know why anyone would go anywhere else in Torrey, this place is awesome! My wife who doesn't typically do bbq finished her whole plate, and that's saying something. The meats were succulent and flavorful with gorgeous smoke. They offer four sauces. We preferred the "Smokey" sauce. Y'all, this is serious gourmet barbecue served in a super-casual atmosphere. No chopped-beef-drowned-in-too-sweet-sauce here. The owner/chef takes his craft seriously, coming out into the dining room for feedback when time permits. Highly recommend the tri-tip: tender and so flavorful it didn't need any sauce, although the homemade "white barbecue" sauce recommended by the chef was the perfect compliment. Salmon was moist, tender and flavorful without being smoky. Little appetizer boxes with breadsticks, veggies and homemade pimiento cheese were a classy touch. Stopped in for dinner between a couple days of hiking Capitol Reef and so happy to have found this place after a long day on the trails. This spot is in a cool, barn-like space with a big fire pit and tables around it. Nice vibe with friendly counter service, a little music, tables are situated around a fire pit. We were there on a Monday and still a good crowd, folks of all ages. Food was fantastic - trying to eat more vegetables which is usually impossible at a bbq restaurant but I had a lovely bbq salmon and sides and my husband who is picky about bbq was very pleased too. This is definitely the spot if you're looking for a relaxing, authentic feeling place with good food. read more

After reading all the wonderful reviews, my family and I decided to try this spot for dinner. So glad we did. My husband ordered the Combo dinner with a side of cheddar mashed potatoes. I had the vegetable plate with the tomato and cucumber salad. Each meal came with a cornbread muffin and a veggie starter with a dip. We were surprised to receive an appetizer of warm plate bread with a pepper cream cream on top that was fantastic. The cream corn literally tasted like thanksgiving in a cup.
