These Tortas are up there with the very best. There are six or seven spectacular places to get Tortas in Houston, and one of them is this local chain. Tortas Las Llardas really knows how to make Mexican sandwiches. Every bite is always delicious. This is actually my favorite location of the chain, because the service is so wonderful here. The one down in the southeast (Friendswood?) was very rude. However, the one out in Chinatown (Beechnut near Belt 8) is excellent much like this one. But this is my favorite. Partly because the girls here are so wonderful. I think both locations make perfect tortas, but these guys had perfect service too. Other top Tortas in town are (1) Tacos La Bala on Bellaire, get the Cochinita Pibil Torta, best I've ever had, but it's on a Bolillo (little stuffed roll), so very different. (2) Tostaa Regia - the pierna endiablada - wow. (3) La Telera - amazing Mexican street food. (4) Las Perronas - very innovative Tortas with excellent chipotle sauce. (5) Del Julio - a nice chain with good NL style food. Compared to those ones, these are about level with #2, 3, 4. All are very good. Anyway, if you want real Mexican food, you can't go wrong with these Tortas. So many different choices, and you should try a bunch of them. I wish I would've had a better experience but unfortunate you the service was terrible, everything was badly organized, and the whole order was completely messed up. Instead of finding a solution to the mistakes that they made on the contrary the waitress criticizing our order. The food is good however the service and the employees did leave a bad taste. The fact that they wanted to charge for a to go box for something I bought?! Ridiculous! The manager was so despicable to say the least that I feel so awful for the employees that have to work with someone like that. The meats are good but don't expect more "exotic" meats like lengua, etc. It was definitely much better food then the bounce place next door. I had guava juice and it was good with the pulp. The service was pretty slow and the girl at the counter wasn't really friendly or attentive. I ordered beef fajita torta combo which came with a small bag of chips and a can soda. The total was about $10 bucks. The bread on the torta was huge. It seemed fresh but could have been a little more toasted in my opinion. The beef lacked flavor and was very scarce on my sandwich. There was a ton of lettuce on my torta. I believe the refried beans were for an extra cost to have on my torta. My torta lacked flavor and meat to bread ratio for me. I doubt I will be back for a torta here. I was disappointed because this is a torta place but didn't satisfy my craving. The location is that of a bankrupt Quiznos shop. At first glance it looks like it could be not so great since they havent taken down the 'order here' Quiznos sign, but the food cannot be looked past. Tacos here are amazing. The meat stands out because it is cooked skillfully with very good flavor. My favorite is the large tacos with either beef or chicken on corn tortilla with grillled onion, avacado, and cilantro. It doesn't stop there though. Once we were eating at home, they didn't taste like they usually do. I don't know if they possibly left an ingredient out or what but it had very little flavor. We had to add alot and more mayonnaise to give it a better flavor. The green sauce was spicy and helped alot with flavor.
