Found this place specifically because of the Yelp reviews and walked in with high expectations. It was awful. I ordered the chili relleno combination plate, hubby ordered the carnitas quesadilla, and son got the nacho fries The relleno was swimming in a canned tomato-based sauce with soggy green peppers and onions. While the chili was roasted it was not tasty. The cheese, while maybe authentic, was not melted. My hubby's quesadilla was dripping onto his plate. I asked if it was the carnitas and he said the meat was dry. The dripping was from the cheese (not detrimental, but who likes dry carnitas meat!). And the fries, while beautifully presented, had gringo nacho cheese, squirt sour cream, and no flavor. Maybe if the fries wet re crunchy or unique, I would haVe eaten it. I found this on Yelp, arrived at Burbank airport and took a Lyft over to Lancaster/Palmdale. I was certain there would be nothing but carbs in my daughter's house, so I saw the great reviews for this small restaurant! I asked the driver to make a stop for me, and in less than 10 minutes, I had red and green chicken enchiladas with rice and beans. The chicken was tender, the two sauces were delicious, and the service was excellent. The portion was large (3 enchiladas). I really loved the texture of their corn tortillas. I got nachos from this place and they never ask for a certain cheese it's always been nacho cheese. Tonight my husband brought home pics alone show they just threw jack cheese on this. I called to complain and she stated she asked my husband what kind of cheese. I heard him make the order so I know they did not ask they just said was that it for the nachos. I was craving some chilaquiles for breakfast today and my bf and I looked this restaurant up and noticed it had good reviews. We arrived at the location and there seemed to be quite a few ppl going in and out. I ordered the green chilaquiles and my bf ordered the Chile relleno omelet. We took our food to go and once we got home (hungry as hell lol) we took our first bite. My first thought was hmmm this taste good but once my palate got the full taste, we realized that the food just had waaay to much salt! Best taco shop in town! Coming from the land of Roberto's (Las Vegas) this place does not disappoint. Green pozole is to die for are, asada is on point, rice and beans are amazing....it's all good. Salsa (Blazing hot) is excellent on heat and flavor. Noting here disappoints. It is a taco shop so there is limited seating. They will bring you chips and refill your drink if you dine in though. I've been coming here for years. Found it by randomly stopping by and giving it a shot. The owners are always helpful and friendly. They make you feel welcomed and if you eat your food inside the staff focuses on if you need anything else. The carne asada has one of the best flavors I've tasted. I highly recommend their cali fries or their hangover fries. They serve it in big portions so it can easy be enough for two. Their burritos and tacos are great as well. Flavor is there but it seems like they're just slapping your food together on a plate and charging an arm and a leg. Here's my cheese enchilada plate to go the other day. I have been coming to Tortilla Grill since they opened. The food is really good: fresh, tasty and I haven't tasted anything on the menu I haven't liked. My favorite item to order is the green pozole! You can't find that everywhere you go and it always available..not limited to a few days a week. They also serve menudo on the weekends but they sell out quick, so get there early. Not enough places to sit, outdoor seating need umbrellas. Food looks better than it tastes. Salsa bar is nice and well stocked. The plates are too big in proportion to the volume of food served. Worst is the TV with volume turned up LOUD, I guess the manager never heard of salsa music to accompany the salsa on the tacos. Pun intended. Overall not bad just average. ......
