We found a gem of an authentic Mexican joint. Juanito's Place on W ave I in Lancaster is legit. Don't let the location fool you. Most times when you search for basic plates like huevos rancheros most do not live up to it but at Juanito's they are just like my moms. They are served with home made refried beans, eggs cooked your way, tortillas and potato chunks. The salsas set it off, a mild green salsa and a very nice spicy red salsa. We also tried the chilaquiles, wow, they were amazing, perfect crisp tortillas, spicy authentic salsa, cheese. A must try. They have a huge menu with many Mexican favorites. They seating are is small but could hold about 30 , very tight space but clean and bright. The staff are very friendly don't hesitate to ask for special requests. Same great food, I have been going there since 2003. Their enchiladas are delicious and is priced reasonable.

One of my favorite mexican food spots. Never been disappointed eating there. Super friendly staff.

I really like the cashier but the cook needs to go. I had to overly season my food because when I take a bit if my pork enchiladas I'm chewing and there us NO FLAVOR at all. Idk how that is even possible?? Will not being going back. read more

Review's brief, but I wasn't the victim. Picked up some chicken enchiladas for the MIL with the usual sides. She said it was all great from chips and salsa to the main course. ...then she got food poisoning so severe she was bedridden for a week with several new meds to ease her suffering. I feel it'd be unfair to completely blast the place as she adored the food, but she wasn't ordering that bloody diarrhea. I was hoping to try it myself sometime, but now I'm just afraid I'd miss half a paycheck for some Mexican food. read more

I was in the mood for a delicious Mexican menudo for breakfast needless to say I arrived placed my order in for a menudo to go. (Happy to see they accept Apple Pay) as I was told it would be a 20 min wait. I was surely okay with that I obviously knew it wouldn't be made fresh just for me it has to be somewhere stored in a refrigerator to be heated up whichever way they do it wether that's in the pot or let's keep it real Industrial microwave whichever way they chose I am okay with. As I sit their waiting for my food I look around to see that their cooks weren't wearing a mask needles to say come on we are still in a pandemic that's really no excuse to not be wearing mask while cooking other peoples food Further more 20 mins came and I got my menudo and headed out the door as I arrived to my house to enjoy my food I see that the cup packaging lid had some how melted from one side and spilled a good portion of the soup on to the bag it was wrapped around with as you can imagine I was annoyed mostly with the poor packaging than it actually spilling I think owners need to find a better way to package these to go soups I really look forward to coming back in the next few months and giving it another chance maybe this time to eat at the actual restaurant to see if things are different maybe this 3* can go up from here but please do better with to go orders read more

This is one of my favorite places to come for a great authentic meal. The service is phenomenal!!! Always greeted by the hostess with a smile. They have great customer service. My favorite thing to order are their breakfasts burritos. They include fresh beans, home fries, eggs and your choice of meat. I prefer the chorizo burritos. GEM OF ALL GEMS!!! THE GEM OF ALL GEMS!!! "On the road again Like a band of gypsies we go down the highway We're the best of friends Insisting that the world be runnin' our way." When many people think of Lancaster, "gem of all gems" is not the foremost thing that comes in one's mind, particularly when it comes to an eatery. With packs in the back of a pickup truck, me and few Crew members loaded into the cab, on the road again for another backpacking adventure we go. Wouldn't cha know it, hunger strikes in the middle of no man's land, aka, Lancaster. HELP, YELP!!! Yelp app to took the lead on this trek and led us here. Ok, so the exterior resembles an abandoned diner, frozen in time. Ok, so the interior looks as if the 60's came and passed. With overstuffed cushy booths, painted murals on the walls, servers dressed in jeans and a tee, what this place lacks in the current day presentation, makes up for it with quality and quantity of sustenance. And I'm good with that. ` The salsa, OH MY GOODNESS!!! Chopped full of diced tomatoes, onion, cilantro, and Serrano chili, it's the next best thing to what my Messsian mother makes. As you can see in my pic, it was nearly gone before I could tear myself away from eating it to snap a pic. Didn't help that the corn tortilla chips warm, crispy, and salted to near perfection. Can they top their chips and salsa???? Oh yes, they can top their chips and salsa. Carnitas were amazingly delish! Full of flavor and dripping juicy. I couldn't even get myself to save some for later. Ate them all. Had to sacrifice some of my dessert space to pack it all in, but it was so well worth it. The mini quesadilla was ooey gooey, cheesy. One fellow hiker had a carne asada tostada which was not only monstrous, but filled to the gills with all the trimmings of a tostada; cheese, tomato, guac and sour cream, not to mention, no skimppin' on the asada, totally a beef lovers meal. Like their overstuffed cushy booths, their overstuffed Carne Asada burrito was bustin' at the seams. What impressed me the most about their burrito (didn't taste it myself since it was made with beef) was the way they packed it. Every morsel was a collation of everything within. Pet peeve of mine is biting into a burrito to only get a mouthful of tortilla, lettuce,and tomato on one side and just meat on the other. No need to take two bites at one time to get all the fixin's and flavors at one time. IN A TORTILLA: It is said, you can't judge a book by its cover, and the best places to grub are mom and pop shops. Not sure this is a mom and pop shop, but good golly, this plain Jane book cover offers a legendary story of wild flavors. Next time I'm "On the road again, Like a band of gypsies we go down the highway," near Lancaster, I'm heading to Juanito's Place. Even though it's quite a ways off trail, the gem of all gems is unquestionably worth the additional mileage. read more

Food quality and taste is going down ! Im a frequent customer from Juanito's for the past 10 years. However it seems that now is under new management or new owners. I didn't want to give a bad review as I wanted to give them the opportunity to improve their service and food but I don't see they are doing anything about it. This is in regards to my last two visits: 1. COFFEE HAS NO FLAVOR- too watery, no options of regular and decaf. I brought up to their attention last month when I went for breakfast, I was told they only make one kind and that they put two scoops to one jar of coffee. 2. FRIED FOOD - Today my chips with salsa had a taste of burn old cooking oil. On today's visit around 12:30 pm ( lunch peek!) I was advised that they didn't have any fried food if I wanted any fried food it would take about 15-20minutes as it was being cleaned. That's tells me why my chips tasted that way . 3. Carne Azada plate had no taste at all, no seasoning :-( Their Carne azada for tacos, burritos and Quesadillas is too greasy 4. DIRTY COOKING PANS- you can see them from the dinner area, they need to replace those . Another good experience with Juanitos place.. Salsa: very good quality blended salsa, this stuff has a kick. They have an even hotter one hat is a deep red. Good taste. Chips are fresh, not the best but on par with el torero. Tacos: I have the carnitas tacos most times hardshell. Had those this time too. I still like them but the shell is a little different this time. I think I liked them before. The carnitas was crispy and full of flavor, the carnitas mixed with their salsa was very good! The kids had nachos, run of the mill.. Protip: There's a holiday special going, 2 tacos and a beer for 5 bucks! Take advantage as its good for imports etc hello negra modelo!! read more

Everything on this menu is bomb! The prices and ambiance of this place makes it feel like home. I love they are family own and they run the place with a family feel to it. Makes me feel like I'm at my tias house or something. The servers are great and they are very flexible and you need accommodation. Love this place. I love food. There are not bad food dishes, only really bad amount of condiments on it. Menudo has always captivated me by its original flavor. At Juanito's place sure knows how to keep it simple yet tasty. I order Menudo and I got this Colossal bowl of menudo. I wish I had the proper words to describe all the right amount of flavor this bowl of menudo has. Simply delicious, simple amazing. Come and check it out! I love food!! First of all great customer service. The service was quick and the staff friendly. The prices were reasonable and that's the reason I'm giving them 3 stars. But... the food was not all that, and definitely did not look like the reviews from 2 years ago. I order the wet burrito and it was small and the asada meat was poor quality, plus they put nasty guacamole on top it look dark green as if it was those processed guacamoles. I also order the green sauce chilaquiles and they didn't have enough sauce. The only decent thing was the beans. They serve u chips and salsa and half the chips were rancid. So with that said I didn't even finish my food I felt bad leaving it there so I took it to go but dumped it. The food feels old and not authentic Mexican flavor. Will not be going back. read more

Its location out by the old fairgrounds is a little nostalgic in the old part of town, but that's not enough to charm me back. We ordered cheese enchiladas and chili rellenos, but everything on the plate was bland and, frankly, not worth the drive from the other side of town. Oh well, scratch this one off the list. read more
