Super awesome customer service! Very friendly staff! Picked up a to-go dinner order for hubby and myself. we got the tacos chicos and the chimichanga I believe. I could be wrong but it was something like that. They were both popular items. Everything came with yummy rice and beans! Also got the tamales since it's a Thursday and they were $1 each! I saw all the reviews and heard how great it was from all my friends. I didn't it find it that way. My tacos were literally dripping grease. My chips were stale. It took 20 minutes to get our drinks, another 30 for food, never got a drink refill, and we barely saw our server ever. Weird atmosphere in the back. read more

As with other reviewers here, I'm confused about how this place has the high rating it does. Perhaps Mexican food in this area is vastly different than others? I ate here for lunch with my sisters and we were sat near the bar area where the bartender was also our server. He wasn't very attentive even though it was around 3pm and not busy. My sisters both ordered the Enchiladas dinner and neither liked it at all. I ordered the quesadilla dinner and didn't like mine, either. The chicken was dry and it looked like they used cheap colby-jack cheese. Overall the food was bland. However, the salsa and queso they gave us were delicious, so we pretty much just munched on that the entire time. read more

This place deserves no less than 5 stars. Have been to this hidden gem a few times now and I have been more than pleased each time. Finally found a true authentic Mexican restaurant. I have been twice now and tried many different things, and not once has it disappointed. Today we left with a dozen pork tamales to take home as well so we can enjoy it more often. We will become regulars there for sure! I've been going to Perches for about 8 years now. I come from a Mexican family so finding good Mexican in town was important. Their tamales are home made in-house and will blow your mind! The frijoles are to die for and so is their Spanish rice. I usually get a large container of each to go and they don't last long. Great for mexican food beginners and experts. read more

I will start off saying all the 5 star reviews are correct! My wife had a favorite Mexican restaurant in town, Maria's, until yesterday. We eat out pretty often and I have been cooking since I was 8. There are a lot of places in town that claim to have Mexican food but all of them fall short. Perches is REAL Mexican food and everything they cook is authentic. I think that this is actually the only decent Mexican food in Springfield MO. Most of the time when a Springfieldian raves about Mexican food, it turns out to be really, really bad. I had heard many great things about this place, so it was time to give it a shot. Here was my experience --- The family that runs it is very sweet. They were all smiling a lot and very friendly. I ordered chips and red salsa, steak burrito, and a coke. My total was $13. The steak adds a dollar to your bill, but I don't remember reading that on the menu. I could be wrong, though. I accepted it anyway. The red salsa was very good. It tasted like tomatoes which means that it wasn't crazy over-seasoned, and that's the way I like it. It had onions and cilantro in it which added good flavor, so I enjoyed it. When I opened my to-go container, I saw the rice, beans, and the burrito, and it came with green salsa. Unfortunately, it looks like the container of green salsa was thrown into the container as, when I opened it, it was sitting in the middle of the refried beans. That was not appealing. The small container of salsa should be put into the bag outside of the container. The green salsa, though, had great flavor. It was spicy, and I enjoyed the chunks of onion in the salsa. That was great. The steak burrito wasn't very good, unfortunately. The steak was very dry. The burrito didn't have much salsa inside of it so, when you pair that with dry steak, the burrito itself was very dry. I used the green salsa which made it bearable, but that dry steak kind of ruined the burrito. I must have caught them on a bad day as there are so many great reviews, so I may give them another try at some other point. read more

Been here several times and always been one of best mexican restaurants I have eating at, but saying that it seems the food has gotten more basic generic American type mexican- sad! Service is still very good but another issue is price on menu is not what they charge you! Ordered enchiladas today price on menu was 7.99 I was charged 8.99-this actually happened last time also- I probably will not go back, seems like this always happens to great businesses.
