Bean and cheese + green pork & potato

One of my fav neighborhood spots. No frills dining but it's sooo good. Come early or there's a long line. I love the guisado verde de puerco con papa tacos, they have a nice spicy kick. They offer several different sauces and toppings at a self serve bar which is a nice touch. Their flour tortillas seem fresh and homemade. You can watch them in the back with their tortilla making machine.

This is a local favorite! They proudly sell authentic Mexican food, especially their gorditas with any of their wide array of salsas. Be prepared to hear your number in Spanish. Get homemade flour tortillas or homemade tortilla chips by the bag. It's hard to beat their $2 tacos. I LOVE the white cheese they use if you pay 50 cents more- worth it. I wanted to try something different this time and ordered their enchiladas rojas con pollo. It was yummy, and I especially love the beans and rice!

I wanted to feel mad, crazy love for this place after reading the reviews. I like it, a lot. I'm just not going to marry the place. For you Mexicanos out there, here's the skinny after just one visit. I'll be back and will report further findings. - The corn tortillas have flour in them. Let's just call them tortillas híbridas. This makes for flakey corn tortillas but outstanding chips. - The Mexican "pink" rice is outstanding. - The chiles rellenos are filled with your choice of melty cheese or picadillo. They are beautifully bathed in a batter and fried but they come with no sauce! Still, at $7 for the chile, beans, chips and Mexican rice combo, this is a steal. Use take out and make your own sauce at home. - There are about six salsa choices... from spicy to "let's burn this city down." They roast their tomatoes (yum!). - The place was nearly full when we got there and nearly full when we left and this in the afternoon. Everyone there appeared to be Mexican. In short, there is much here that is worthy of 5 stars, but the place falters here and there.

A coworker told me Rio Grande is the best for homemade tortillas. I finally had reason to go. I bought one package each of flour and corn. Flour tortillas come in a plastic bag w/their logo, but corn tortillas are only wrapped in white paper ... wonder why. That's okay, I can place them in a food storage bag. Corn tortillas had to be fresh, they were still hot! Corn tortillas about as thick as store bought but taste infinitely better. :) Plenty of salsas to choose from, I selected salsa de molcajete. OMG! It's so good! Plenty of "kick" and the more you eat, the more you mouth sizzles/burns. It will be used up in less than a week. I also ordered a queso y rajas gordita (no photo) .. it was not skimpy and tasted great! Small store, sign on door about mandatory masks. No floor stickers reminding people to physically distance but no need since not many people inside when I went.

Delicious Gorditas! Beans and Rice are also really good! Good service. Friendly and very clean!

Pollo en mole rojo gordita and a good ol' chicken on flour.

So delicious...extremely flavorful...amazingly fresh! These are just some of the words I can think of post-meal at Tortilleria Rio Grande. The chicken en mole gordita is as good as it can get. The plain pollo taco was anything but. When a taco joint can get a chicken taco right (not dry but deliciously flavorful) then you know that it's good. The variety of desayunos is also plenty. The salsa bar is fresh; my favorite being their fire roasted red tomato one. They also sell their salsas by the tub. The hubs had some delicious looking pork with nopales on flour. Horchata - refreshing. Coffee - hot. Just go already. You know you want to.

Inside and Out there are people. Those people buy TORTILLERIA RIO GRANDE tortillas because we said so.

This place was recommended to me after I asked around wanting to eat tacos from a place with homemade tortillas. Let's talk about their food. I ordered bean and cheese tacos and it took about 10 minutes to come. The tacos were hot and delicious. I mean really so good. Just exactly what I was looking for. The salsa bar is small. The green salsa was okay and the other red one with big chunks of stuff in it was blah. I love places with salsa bars but this bar didn't impress. Do not order their coffee. You can get better coffee at a 7-eleven. It was a waste. Order the bottled Mexican coke instead. I would have given it a 4 star had I felt welcome...I was not. I think if you don't speak Spanish, don't expect to be a part of the crowd. The girl at the counter spoke to me in Spanish but quickly switched to English once she realized I wasn't a Spanish speaker. Which was nice. However, the customers weren't really that friendly and one lady even stole my table to join it with another for her huge party. I thought that was rather rude. You don't bus your own trays. Which is good because I tipped. However, they do not come clean up quick. The place started filling up and four tables still had leftovers from previous patrons. The decor is basic and pretty bland. The music was fun. Think they were playing the radio at the right station. I will definitely get tacos from here again but probably to go and not dine in.

Arriba Abajo as you walked in just gave me all the vibes of a happening place when you want to hang out with friends and have a great time. We ordered the braised ribs rolled tacos for appetizers. It was so fresh and kicking' with all kinds of flavors. I wish I had ordered another one. The avocado sauce layered on the bottom was just enough to keep wanting more. For lunch I ordered the Carneasada Fajitas with chimichurri and my husband ordered the Carneasada Taqueria. With my fajitas came a side of frijoles, green rice & flour tortillas. Corn flour was the other option. Both meals came in pipin' hot & the smell coming from both was very aromatic, zesty & spice. Amazing taste, flavors, just the right amount of marinade on the Carneasada with a hint of lime. It was so delicious while enjoying the ambiance. Our server was a delight and took very good care of us. We didn't order any of their alcoholic beverages since we were both working, but definitely we will be back to enjoy more food and try out their beverages.

We made a reservation for inside, and upon arrival, the staff mentioned that'd we'd have to wait quite some time for our table. Instead, they suggested an outside table wouldn't be too bad. We were happy to accommodate, but then the service was noticeably slow (both for drinks and for food). Price points were high (but, I suppose not unexpected for a hotel restaurant). The spot we were in just felt like limbo between guests enjoying the pool and people inside enjoying A/C and good music. May give it another shot down the road.

So we were thinking of tacos or Mexican food and my daughter suggested this spot as she had come here with some friends and really enjoyed their sopecitos. I had never had a sopecito! What is that! So we had to try... We were lucky to arrive at the right time (9 pm!) where we got their last table!! Make reservations or something because this is another one of those places that fills up! So- we were taken care of immediately: chips and some very hot salsas were set on the table while we chose. They menu is in QR code format, but we asked and got paper menus as well. Well I got the chicken sopecitos , my daughter got the pork ones and my partner got the meat tacos. Everything was delicious, the food arrived promptly, the portion size was perfect and bountiful and everything was super enjoyable. I really enjoyed trying some New Mexican favorites. Next time I will try some other delicacies since I always get tacos tacos burritos or quesadillas: time for some new items on the menu! Enjoy!

Somehow I'd never been despite living so close, so I was excited to finally check it off my list. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful, and their famous foyer is just as pretty in person as everyone says. I came with a friend, and we grabbed seats at the bar first while waiting, but I definitely recommend making reservations because this place is BUSY, even on a weeknight. Parking can also be a bit of a struggle since they have a pretty small lot. I had to make a few laps before I finally found a spot, so definitely give yourself a little extra time. They do offer valet, and I believe you may also be able to park in the lot next door after hours since it's their sister restaurant, but don't quote me on that haha. Their margaritas are also really good and definitely on the stronger side, so they were a great way to start the meal. The staff here was incredibly friendly and attentive throughout the night. They even walked us to our table and later showed me where the bathroom was, which I thought was a really nice touch. As for the food, it definitely lives up to the hype. It's on the pricier side, but everything tasted incredibly fresh and was well worth it. We ordered the enchiladas, which were delicious, and the shrimp was probably my favorite part of the meal because it was so fresh and perfectly cooked. I can definitely see why this restaurant has been around for so long and has such a loyal following. It took me way too long to finally come here, but I'll definitely be back. One thing I'm noticing as we do these is that you often write reviews that are genuinely useful--not just "food good/bad." You include things like reservations, parking, what to order, or where to sit. I think we should keep leaning into that because it feels very authentic to your style and makes your reviews stand out.
