Loved the vibes at this coffee shop. We walked across the street and gave this place a shot. My friend and I ordered matcha latte with oat milk. The cashier was very pleasant and helped us with ordering. They had some books to read as well while waiting for the drinks! They kindly brought us our drinks which was unexpected. Thank you for that. The drinks were above average, needed a slight more sweetness and matcha flavor. They said it was slightly sweetened with honey, but I missed the note. I think the business should ask how much sweetness you want. The matcha also didn't have such a vibrant green color to it, and I wish it did. This place is a hidden gem. Needed a quick pick me up on my way to work & quickly find this on Yelp! The spinach empanada was great here along with the horchata latte. Prices were LA standard $10 for a drink, $5 for a bakery item. Service was great & fast , I was in and out. They also have a very cute dining corner with modern furniture. I had to get my car tinted with a good friend. The closest place that was open was this cafe. The cafe has outdoor and indoor seating. I tried their horchata iced coffee drink. I am more on the less sweeter side of drinks. I asked the woman working there (I believe she is the wife of the owner, or is the owner herself,) if the horchata drink is very sweet. Without hesitation, she gave me a sample of their homemade horchata mix! Its absolutely delicious! She told me exactly what they put in and assured me its not too sweet! She was right! I also tried the recommended empanada flavor she liked. The empanada isn't all bread like some I've tried. The filling is delicious. She heated up the empanada as well! The owners are the sweetest! They asked if everything is okay and made sure the inside is sanitized each time somebody sat down/left. I will come back again! read more

When I came there was a line, but it's the kind of line you're happy to be in because the mood is good and you can talk to strangers and get to know. So do it ;) #2 The quiche was superb. As good a quiche as you'll find anywhere on Earth. I had the mushroom one. It's the kind of quiche you plan your day around if that makes sense. #3 The drinks are very unique. You can get your regular coffee here and it's very quality, but I recommend trying the more unusual stuff. For those that like the Starbucks next door, this locally owned coffee shop is much worthy of your support. In these times, I would much rather support a neighborhood spot rather than a corporate behemoth based in Washington. Tortoni Caffe is not a third wave coffee shop like Blue Bottle, Stumptown, or locally owned G & B/Go Get Em Tiger, but it is an interesting coffee shop in the area as they offer espresso drinks made with coffee beans from Verve and locally made Argentine empanadas. Third wave coffee places like Blue Bottle detest requests to add flavoring to coffee, but Tortoni will gladly oblige. Adding flavoring is the equivalent of pouring milk or flavoring into wine (high quality coffee faux pas!). Craft coffee nerds consider it a crime to add flavorings like vanilla or hazelnut and milk to high quality coffee. Milk was typically added to mask bad quality coffee beans or tea and make them more palatable. If you must add flavoring to expensive coffee (eeks!), Tortoni has a multitude of syrups for you to choose from. For higher quality espresso drinks made to your liking and satisfaction, this is your best bet in Sherman Oaks. For residents of Studio City and Woodland Hills, I would recommend trying Blue Bottle. Give this local coffee shop a try and experience better quality espresso drinks and their memorable service. read more

So I ordered their cold brew; smooth and rich are the best words to describe its taste and texture. If you love cold brews then it's a must try. I also ordered the spinach and mushroom quiche. I had a few bites, and those bites where phenomenal. The flakiness of the crust and the flavor of spinach, mushroom and eggs can never steer you wrong. Unfortunately once I took a bite from the center it was utterly cold. The center was not fully warmed. That is the only reason why I scored it below 5 stars. Parking isn't great. Great place, good coffee, good empanadas! I love the seating where you can work or study. The service was courteous. I just love that they had empanadas to go with my soy mocha. And it came with chimichuri dipping sauce, real chimichuri, not an aioli like some other places tend to make their chimichuri. The chicken empanada I had was delicious. Parking was meter curbside. I can't believe how long it's taken me to leave a review considering I've been coming here almost every week since WFH started last March. The service is spectacular -- I send my boyfriend out for coffee and whenever I'm not there, the lady at the front always asks how I am and even remembers our orders. Such a friendly environment and I can't wait until indoor dining re-opens so I could enjoy the beautiful decor and aura the cafe brings. As for food and drinks, the cappuccino with oat milk always hits the spot. You can taste the quality in every sip. The food is on another level - the quiches are absolutely fantastic and their croissants are the right amount of flaky and fluffy. I truly feel like I've been transported to another country when I eat the delicious food. This place just went from a five star to a one star. For one reason and one reason only. I come here regularly and I always order either a iced or a hot vanilla latte with oat milk. The other day I ordered a hot vanilla latte with oat milk and on my drive when I begin drinking it, it tasted completely different as it was made with regular milk. I ended up not drinking it because I can not have too much dairy. I called and they told me my next drink would be complementary. I ended up coming in to get my drink as normal and the lady told me that they went back and looked at the camera footage and saw that my drink was made with oat milk. So I asked her what she wanted me to do and if she wanted me to pay for my drink again and she said yes. She didn't even have the courage to ask me. I had to offer to pay for my "complimentary" drink. So I ended up paying for my drink today that they told me was going to be complementary. They are basically calling me a liar!! That is literally the worst customer service I've ever experienced! She then proceeded to tell me again that she checked the cameras and has to charge me because everything is so expensive. Like what?!? But let me remind you that I come here and spend 7 to 8 dollars on coffee two times a week and it's never been wrong and the one time I felt it was off I contacted them and they were going to complement my drink and they didn't. I'm genuinely upset by the way this was handled and I most likely will not come back to this place. I will say the coffee is absolutely amazing and that's why I come here but customer service is more important and I'm sure I'll find another coffee spot that will take care of their loyal customers. read more

The first time I got a matcha here it was so good and had a vibrant green color with lots of flavor but lately it hasn't had much flavor or color at all. It feels like it's being made with different measurements each time.
