As an avid coffee lover I am always on the look out for new coffee shops to try! This one popped up on Yelp, so my boyfriend and I decided to give it a try on a Saturday morning. He got the horchata matcha latte and I got the golden maple latte. Both were delicious and came out fast! They had a bunch of other interesting flavors on the menu too. We also got a ham and cheese croissant and a ham and cheese empanada. The barista heated them up for us and came outside to hand them to us. So sweet! They were both good but the croissant was my favorite! Especially with a little chimichurri sauce! The cafe was busy but there was still seating available on the outside patio, which was lovely. Unfortunately I don't have many photos of their drinks but I loveeeee Tortoni and come almost once a week. Definitely my go to spot in the valley, they have a great variety of coffee which is smooooth and delicious, not bitter at all. I'd def recommend their Dulce de leche latte and the Spanish latte. It does get busier on the weekends but even then the wait isn't too long! There's a worker here who's always the sweetest but I don't remember her name, she's blonde though, I always enjoy making casual conversation since she's so friendly. I visited this coffee shop based on the high reviews and was expecting a really good latte. I ordered the nutty latte and unfortunately my latte tasted like a plain latte, I'm not sure if the flavoring was forgotten or just not enough but all I tasted was espresso and milk. It was still drinkable but for over $7 I expected to taste some of the nutty flavors that were supposed to make up the nutty latte. First and foremost, this is the second time I have purchased coffee here! I don't want to sound mean but I just don't get this place. I purchased a small three shot vanilla latte. It taste a lot more like water latte far from bold and bold from far. If you know, you know, I understand every coffee house is expensive I get it, but this definitely wasn't worth the money in my mind. Please teach the people who work here that it's not an attack to be asked to confirm an online order after they've gotten it wrong. I just wanted clarity, and was met with an weirdly high level of hostility. When the 2nd barista playing body guard to the one ignoring me while making my drink finally spoke with me face to face to confirm my order, she was still leaving an item off- and when I asked if it didn't go through correctly, genuinely just trying to confirm my order, she brushed me off. Horrendous service!! I worked for Starbucks as a shift lead in the middle of Hollywood for seven years. I know what it is to have difficult customers. I'm am not one. I would never, ever let my team treat a customer this way. I came in to pick my order up around 10:27 AM today. It was the matcha lavender latte. I placed the order online. If a manager cares to review the cameras, I'm the woman in the pink and black dress. Please do some training. It takes two seconds to confirm an order and speak to another person like a human being. I love supporting small businesses and try new coffee shops so I'm a little upset that I have to write this type of review. I do want to warn people tho because ratings are high which is what convinced me to try it. I should not have to be paying $10 for below mediocre coffee. I ordered a caramel latte with oat milk. It was bland and couldn't even tell if I was given an expresso shot. Very disappointed. The empanadas were $6 each and I preferred the chicken one. It was above average and worth trying. This is my fave coffee shop on Ventura Blvd in Sherman Oaks. They're Argentinian-owned and have decor around the place that reflects it. Especially love the Chihuly chandelier they have hanging over the seating area. Service can be a little slow sometimes, but it's honestly because this place is so popular. The staff is constantly slammed with in-person and takeout orders they're that good. I never mind waiting because I know I'm gonna get good quality drinks every time. The coffee is amazing, but I usually go to get my matcha latte fix. Don't forget to grab a pastry! I always love getting the cinnamon roll they serve; it's like a croissant cinnamon bun. This was a great little cafe off of Ventura Blvd. There are a lot of competing coffee shops to choose from around here but this one stands out with its great coffee/latte options and food options. Who knew coffee and empanadas make a good team? I do now! Prior to coming into the physical location, I'd ordered several times on UberEats and enjoyed the some red pepper and black olive quiche, pasta frola (a not overly sweet guava tart) and the Aztec mocha. Today I finally went in and ordered an iced Aztec mocha (kinda like a latte and Mexican hot chocolate had a baby) and a perfectly sweet, sugar covered croissant like pastry called a Kouign-Amman. The location is relatively small but they have comfy seating including some lovely cushy chairs inside and plenty of outside seating. I didn't see they had Mate until after I ordered my latte, but I can't wait to try it next time! Properly made Yerba mate beverages are just so good and the energy you get from it is so much less jittery than caffeine. The waitstaff was friendly and accommodating to my several questions about the drinks and pastries. I appreciated that the empanada was served warmed up. Came on a Thursday around 11am and it was busy! The space is pretty limited, there were about 5~ tables outside. All but one was taken. The employees are nice enough to bring out your order but it's best to just wait by the counter. They also have a bin nearby to place your used dishes in; clean after yourself people! Parking isn't convenient but wasn't too hard to find. They had street sweeping around the time I was there so I didn't bother checking south of Ventura blvd. Karina Emma I found the customer service by both of these young ladies to be five star super awesome sauce excellent!! Emma was extremely patient with me because I have a hard time making decisions on food and drink orders and she never made me feel rushed. Emma always kept a very warm and friendly smile on her face and she just made it a wonderful experience. Karina comes over to my table and greeted me and checked in on how I was doing, Karina really shows that she cares about her customers and both of theses young ladies truly and organically made me feel like a VIP customer. Both the owner ( Karina ) and Emma are five stars across the board when it comes to their customer service which is equal to that of the Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas, which is saying a massive amount!! Such a cute coffee shop down the street from our apartment . I forgot about this place and stumbled across it again on my morning walk with my dogs , baby, and husband . The customer service was always great in the past but today it was something to remember . The staff on February 25 in the morning were all so sweet . They all greeted us with smiles and even offered our pugs some treats . I asked the barista if he wanted to feed them as a thank you but he kindly had to turn down that offer because he didn't want to raise any alarms with cleanliness which makes sense . He was very respectful about it while remaining cautious of others feelings in the coffee store . Which is important when dealing with the public . Stopped by for a visit after driving through to Costco on a Tuesday afternoon. Being a visitor from the suburbs of LA, I found parking at Tortoni to be quite a hassle. Street parking is metered, and residential parking is limited to two hours and can be quite a walk when there is a spot available... but I guess that's part of the LA experience. Tortoni was an easy cafe to find since it's near the corner of a block. There is outdoor patio seating, and I chose to relax indoors at the corner lounge. I was in the mood for something new, so I tried the Golden Maple Latte, the title drink of the featured Fall Drinks menu. The description of ginger drew me in, and I couldn't resist since one of my childhood favorites were ginger milk. I found the Golden Maple to have an appropriate hint of ginger without completely masking the milky taste of latte. I was recommended to try it with whole milk since it would taste better. In retrospect, I think that it was more for the texture of the drink than the taste. I think the Golden Maple could've had a stronger ginger taste, though. At times, I felt that I was drinking a normal whole milk latte with inklings of a ginger taste. The tumeric was a nice spice on top. Wi-Fi is easy to access at Tortoni, but wall chargers are not, so if you want to study or work here, be sure to bring a well-charged electronic or hope that a spot near a charger becomes available. read more
