Fun pizza night at Tortorice's Pizza on Grand in West Town. The team was so sweet and Billy was super friendly which made the experience great. We got the veggie thin crust pizza and the deep dish with hot honey. The caramelized crust on the deep dish was really good and the hot honey added the perfect touch. The homemade mozzarella sticks were my fave of the night and the cheesy garlic bread and jalapeño poppers were delish. would rate Tortorice's Pizzeria a 5 based on the food alone, because everything we ordered was really good. Unfortunately, the service completely ruined the experience. The manager was extremely rude, the staff looked miserable, and the overall atmosphere felt uncomfortable. What really crossed the line was a staff member insulting my friend for bringing in water--even though it's BYOB. To make matters worse, she's pregnant, so the comment was not only unnecessary but completely insensitive. I would definitely recommend ordering takeout instead of dining in. As a Chicagoan who's lived in this city for years, I've been treated with more respect at fast-food spots than I was at this restaurant today. This place was heavily promoted by social media influencers as the spot to watch the Bears game, so we were excited to check out their BYOB and game-day atmosphere. Big mistake. From the moment we walked in, the vibe was hostile. Nearly every table had a "reserved" sign, yet the restaurant was basically empty--except for one table. We politely asked if we could sit closer to the biggest TV, since, you know... Bears game. We were told no. Then told the back was for a "private event." No event. No people. Just empty tables. When we questioned it, the owner stepped in--and that's when it went from awkward to unacceptable. He was rude, dismissive, and combative, telling us: "You can leave or stay, but those are the only tables." "It's not about the money." "I have money--you can leave if you want. I don't need you here." That's how paying customers were spoken to. We stayed only because it was already game time and switching spots last minute wasn't realistic. Nothing improved. The place remained mostly empty, and we watched multiple groups walk in, feel uncomfortable immediately, and leave--including a mom with her three kids who didn't even stay a minute. The only bright spot in this entire experience was our waitress, Irene, who clearly noticed how poorly we were treated and did her best to be kind and professional. She deserves better than this environment. Unfortunately, everyone else--from the owner, to the other servers, to the door guy--contributed to one of the most unwelcoming dining experiences I've had in this city. Chicago has too many amazing pizza spots, sports bars, and neighborhood joints to waste time or money somewhere that treats customers like they're disposable. You have a rude woman who answers the phone and says "yes" to anything you ask her. But don't dare complain about it to the staff because she could care less about it. I was thinking of giving them a try after hearing about them on Facebook but when you have a staff member who just doesn't care why bother! The last year or so it's been pretty unpredictable. When I can say that I went here and had the best mozzarella sticks EVER and mean it?! It's got to be good! I mean, they make their mozzarella sticks in house. The breading that's used on them is seasoned so well and I've never had a mozzarella stick seasoned like that before! Their wings? The two flavors that I tried - garlic, Parmesan, and mango habanero, were delish! Both of them were wet rubs and the flavors were definitely hitting! But that deep dish? I can see why it's famous! That caramelized burnt cheese crust is quite epic! I can go on and on about it, but just know that it is something that you MUST TRY! The hot honey was like the icing on the cake. You can get hot honey put on top of any of the pizzas that you order from there and it's so good! The regular traditional pizza was good as well and I LOVED the option for CHICKEN SAUSAGE! They have multiple appetizers options including the previous too and jalapeño poppers as well! Our first time having tortorices. We went with their speciality that has two layers of dough and cheese with toppings on top and a personal size deep dish. The deep dish was tasty and the caramelized edges were perfect but the price for the size was a little ridiculous and we could have done without the seasoning on top. The speciality pizza was only $4 more for the medium so we went with that and it was huge. Maybe for some people but WAY too much for us. So thick and heavy... i know it's as expected with the description so it's just personal preference but I ended up taking a layer off because it was just too much. Maybe the thin crust would have been ok. In general, the deep dish was good but not as good as others in Chicago and the prices are pretty insane. We paid $60 for the personal pizza and a medium sized pizza. On the medium we paid $4 for one extra topping (giardinara) and there was maybe a spoonful of it on the entire pizza. We settled on a large pepperoni with mushrooms. The delivery time wasn't super fast, but the pizza arrived piping hot with exceptionally melted cheese! Tavern style is typically not my favorite, but I loved the fresh, thin crust that had a perfect chew without being tough. It was also a great size for 5 people. There was a rat tail baked into the pizza that was delivered to our home tonight. Not knowing what it was, I touched it. It was hard and I immediately knew that it was not part of the crust or a crispy part of the cheese. I shut the box, scrubbed my hands and contacted Grub Hub for a refund.
