We loved Tortugas!!! We came here on a cruise, and found this experience in the mall. The restaurant: we had the freshest tortillas, green house made hot sauce, and chicken fajitas we have ever had. By the beach with crystal blue waters. The only reason we didn't stay longer was so we could see more of Cozumel. The crew of La Chula was an absolute dream, professional, skilled, and friendly - they knew when to be serious and when to party! It was the best of both worlds - thrilling and relaxing. Things I liked: - the length of the ATV tour (not too long, not too short) - the tequila tasting: fun and knowledgeable presentation and I feel that the amount of tastings we got to do was generous - size of the restaurant and beach club Things I did not like: - poor communication: lots of confusion on where to go when we got off the ship. We were told by the staff at the tortugas booth to wait in a specific area and that someone was coming to pick us up. We were there for over half an hour and nobody came only for the booth staff to tell us just to take a cab instead. Then when we did arrive at the beach club we had to wait another 20 min for our guide to get there. - Long wait times: kinda ties with the lack of communication but we had to wait over 30min for a ride to the beach club, 20 minutes for our guide and then almost an hour for our snorkel boat - food/drink quality: our package came with lunch and an hour of open bar. The drinks were weak and left much to be desired. The food was just basic fajitas with rice and beans, my chicken was poorly cooked and overall the lunch left much to be desired. read more

We really enjoyed this beach in March 2023! We got off the cruise ship & didn't have any plans. We talked with a guy at a booth by the shopping stores. He told us everything we could expect to have at the beach & he explained the cost for taxi's & admission. It made good sense to spend the afternoon at a beach that serves food/drinks & has lots of water sports. He explained what was included on the paid beach: tequila tasting, lounge chairs, water trampoline & play station, canoe, water boards, & snorkeling. For extra cost you can rent jet ski, get a massage, order food & drinks & there's some shopping. The guys went on jet skis & had the time of their lives, while I got one of the best massages ever!!! This beach front isn't very big, but plenty of lounge chairs & room in the under cover restaurant! We ordered fajita's & margaritas. Everything tasted really good. The staff are very nice & friendly. Now, this beach club isn't the nicest but we were doing a private boat snorkeling excursion through them and didn't care too much about what the club was like. There isn't much beach... it's very rocky so bring swim shoes but the water is clear and there are SOOOOO MANY FISH. We got some drinks and food, both were delicious..before heading out on our excursion. We booked the El Gordooo private boat. The crew was AMAZING! Denise(the photographer) was soooo friendly and extremely professional, Jorge and Rigo (the captain) made sure we were comfortable and even accommodated our trip to make it more suitable for all ages. Tortugas Beach Club was our last stop on our private jeep tour excursion! A little stretch of beach with plenty of options for activities! We stopped here for lunch and snorkeling and were greeted by a blue painted man- dressed as a God? Picture time! And yes we bought the picture! lol, we strolled past a little shop selling pharmaceuticals, another hut with fish pedicures- Garra rufa, and made our way to the deck overlooking the water. The bar had swings for guests and there were plenty of tables. We enjoyed fajitas and quesadilla as well as chips and pico~ which was amazing! After lunch we went out the side of the deck and over to the snorkel gear hut and got ready- there is a metal ramp off the deck that leads right into the water for easy access (some of the beach is rocky) and as soon as we had our masks and fins on we were off for the best adventure of the day! It had been raining and dreary all morning- but the afternoon warmed up and the fish obviously didn't care about the rain! We had clear waters for our viewing pleasures. As soon as we put our face in the water- scores of tropical fish were right there! We made a large loop following our tour guide. Israel from Cozumel Cruise Excursions was our snorkel guide on top of our jeep tour guide! He dove down and showed us urchins, yellow sting rays, and spiny lobsters in addition to all the coral and reefs and various species of fish! I honestly could have done that for much longer~ it was breathtaking. Icing on the cake? A photographer met us on the water with fish food and took pictures of us snorkeling! We even had a great fish photo bomb picture! Something else we purchased! How could we not? read more

DO NOT TRUST THEM We are two couples who bought the Tortugas private jeep tour and also parasailing We should have known as soon as we got on board that they are TOTALLY unprofessional. The two person "crew" left the pier without ANY safety instructions or drills. After about ten minutes into the sea they asked us (one couple) to get on the deck to link up the harness to the parachute. We went up in less than a minute and at about 150 feet above the water heard repeated loud "clicks" as if the rope was under tremendous strain. After 4-5 minutes we signaled that we wanted to come down. The crew started bringing us down and within a minute disaster struck and the rope SNAPPED and we found ourselves in the water. The crew did not react for several minutes as they were in shock Finally they steered the boat towards us when another disaster almost happened - the boat almost rammed my head at high speed as the "captain" was totally panicked. His assistant then got into the water to help us get to the ladder to climb on to the boat. When asked what happened he claimed that it happens to all companies every 2-3 years! I asked him old the rope was and he said it had nothing to do with the rope but the "physics" of the high wind and the waves! When we got back to the beach club he had the audacity to offer a refund of USD80 out of $280!!! After a heated argument he returned all the money. Outrageous that they operate with ZERO safety drills, training and unsafe equipment. read more

I would not recommend this beach club. Either someone at the club got a hold of my husband's credit card ,or the machine is corrupted) to purchase a jeep rental. My husband caught it and the credit company reversed the charge, so the jeep rental company is in for a nasty surprise and a loss. The vibe was also not that great and they didn't seem to care when we told them about the fraud on our card. However, the private boat tour was good. The reef snorkeling was amazing and El Cielo was so beautiful. One bad day there but one amazing boat ride. read more

me and my family of 5 went snorkeling at this beach club, and it was a little sketch but v fun It was our first time, and my brother and I caught on quickly, however my older sister and father apparently drank so much seawater that their sodium intake for the next month was satisfied. the guys helping us were great, my mother (who doesn't know how to swim) was taken out by one of them and I can only imagine his experience as she held on to him in terror. Great spot for snorkeling, friendly service, decent prices and their food is delicious! We ordered chicken nachos and fish tacos (fresh and grilled, no breading!). Excellent guacamole. Buckets of beer (5 for $15). They're the full size bottles, not the smaller bottles that sometimes come in a bucket. Most beers sold separately are $3.50-$4. Menu prices are a little high but their food is delicious and fresh. Not going to complain- we're on vacation and they're a beachside business. Our server took care of us all day long as we were there for about 5-6 hours. He brought us a beach umbrella when the sun came out strong. Checked on us often however was never pushy or bothersome. Also brought fresh ice for our buckets to keep the beer cold. They close the kitchen and bar at 5. However I asked about a special birthday dinner for my husband and the manager informed me that if needed, he could staff a few folks beyond closing time (5:30-6ish) to make dinner for us, just let him know in advance. This establishment sells beach access that they don't have. $USD80 for a family of 4 to use the beach, but really it's a bar on a reef that needs a long ramp to access the water. Our experience with this company was terrible. The tour guide was completely indifferent to what we wanted to do at Punta sir, the reported best beach on the island. We paid US$720 for a private tour and were taken on a terrifying snorkel adventure we are the tour guide swim so fast that my children were choking and exhausted. We had to get ourselves to shore and in the end, my sons had to figure out how to blow up the lifevests on our own. The tour guide never explained how said "you won't need it anyway". As a mother I would say to other mothers "stay away." The lunch promised was just a small snack. Half of it we had to pay for when they originally told us it was completely included in the cost. The lighthouse is not worth your trouble. The tequila tour was just a sales pitch . Usually, I don't bother writing bad reviews however, I never want this to happen to anybody else. read more

This was a big waste of time AND money. We were on a private tour and driven around the island to a smelly beach club, where we were subsequently taken on a guided snorkeling tour. Our "guide" swam the family out to sea with little to no communication and left us to fend for ourselves with very poor snorkeling equipment. We were taken to seemingly a dozen small sites around the island which all seemed to be money scams, and the guide couldn't even speak to us to explain the islands history. Felt like our entire day was overly micromanaged. Additionally, we were told there would be an all-included Mexican buffet, but were instead served tiny mediocre dishes and charged for our drinks. We were staying in Playa and decided to take the ferry to Cozumel and rent a jeep for the day. When we were renting the jeep, we paid an extra $5 per person to have access to this place as it included a drink and use of the snorkeling gear. Our trip to Cozumel was unplanned so we had to take recommendations as they came and doing this gave us a destination to head to. We spent a few hours here. Had a few drinks. Ate some food. Quality was good. They have places where you get get massages, hair braided, shop, etc. We did not do any of that. Staff was all attentive and good. Swimming and snorkeling was nice though a bit hard to get into water as a bit rocky. Hopefully they can figure out a better way to access the water. They had a smallish beach area with chairs, tables and umbrellas. It worked for us and there was a stream of people in and out. But the biggest aspect of this place is their honesty. So we were leaving. Wife apparently set her iPhone on the side of our rented jeep. She forgot it there. 15 minutes later as we are driving down the road she realized she did not have her phone and she was not exactly sure what she had done. As expected, she was quite upset. So was I though I did my best to hide that fact. Anyways.......we backtracked to Tortugas figuring our chances of finding that phone were slim. Upon pulling into the parking lot, we had one of the waiters come to the parking lot with her phone. Yes, it had fallen off the jeep as we left. They found it, waited for us to return and then gave it back. He further told us that if we had not returned, they planned to call the place we rented the jeep from to let them know where the phone was. Needless to say, that act of kindness and honesty saved what could have been some tension for the rest of our trip. Thank you Tortugas!! Because of this, if we ever get back to Cozumel, we will undoubtedly go back to Tortugas and spend the day as this type of establishment that deserves some praise and repeat business. read more
