7/8/26 - made reservations with Yelp at 6:30. Seated right away for 3 persons. Given menus and 90 minutes. OMG this was far better than my last experience where the sushi maker didn't show. We killed so many sushi's and loved them all. Waitress was the best as well as my male friend spilled water all over the table. Check out photos and the goodness you will have. 5 stars and go here. You will love it!!!
If you're looking for a spot that offers more than just ayce sushi, Toryumon is the spot for you! We came at a peak dinner time so it did get a little crowded, luckily they take reservations so highly recommended! While we were there multiple larger parties arrived so it does look like they can handle the larger crowds. We were seated closer to the sushi bar/kitchen area but it appeared that there was a larger dining area on the other end of the restaurant. Food wise, i highly recommend the sweet shrimp and scallop sushi! The pieces melted like butter and tasted so creamy! The rice quantity is on the bigger side as well as the portions so be careful when ordering. The ramen was also a hit along with the aged tofu! Those were my top favorites!! Service was decent! Nothing over the top, our server checked in a few times, and the overall service wasn't too slow given the crowd. There is no dedicated parking lot so street parking is it for this area. However, we parked in a garage and it was about a 5-7 min walk so not bad if that's the route you want to go.
My friend introduced me to this place once and ever since then, we never looked back! I am new to DC and thought I would never find a good AYCE spot here. I was clearly wrong. This place is really central to downtown and is a perfect location. Staff is very friendly - but here you will have a bit more strict guidelines with the AYCE menu, so be sure to set a timer to be careful for your timing. The food is great, sushi is fresh and there are lot of appetizer options as well. They're usually accommodating to bigger groups which is also nice!! We usually do the specialty rolls and they make them look so pretty, but most important, they are delicious. At this price point, you won't find good, quality sushi for AYCE anywhere else!
I was excited to see DC have an AYCE sushi restaurant. These are more common out west. I was by myself so not able to try as much variety. The pink lady roll was my favorite. The others were also good given it's a $35 AYCE experience. Good for volume but won't be the best sushi you can find in DC. I arrived right when they opened so service was quick.other menu items are available on the AYCE but I didn't try them. I will definitely come back. The restaurant had nice ambiance, the staff were friendly and attentive. I like that they offer several rolls with soy paper. I like to mix it up from the nori. I wish they would do half rolls for the solo diner. I have a few of my favorite sushi stops that do that.
Came here with my cousins for dinner. Located in the lower level (aka basement) of an office building on Pennsylvania Ave. Be careful walking down the stairs. It's at a 45 degree angle so kinda steep. You are welcome by a cartoony tourist bear in front of the restaurant. Very Kawaī! It's not most well lit restaurant, kinda dark but there are lights above where you sit so you can see your food if you are below the lighting. We, a party of 6, sat in a both. The service was attentive. It took us a while to look over the menu (extensive) but it's more a sushi restaurant with other non-sushi Japanese dishes. We all chose ramen & one of the cousins also order Japanese beef curry. We also got the edamame as an appetizer. The edamame with salt was very morish. We got our food after 15 mins. The food came out hot but not super hot. I ordered the Toryumon House Ramen. So when I drank the soup, it was on the warm side. The noodles were still somewhat hot. The broth wasn't as flavorful/salty or as rich/deep as normal tonkotsu. There was 3 thin slices of chasu pork. Again, not as smokey & thick as really good chasu pork. Not used to having many long slices of scallions & corn in my ramen. Overall, the ramen was underwhelming. I think this restaurant is more for sushi. My cousin appeared to like the beef curry as he finished it all. It came with a side salad or miso soup. I've definitely had better ramen. But the restaurant and service was nice. If I do come back, I'd probably try a non-ramen dish.
Within the Foggy Bottom neighborhood sits this basement-level sushi and Japanese spot that hosts a large seating space and bar. I visited for weekend dinner, and the restaurant was mostly packed with parties of all sizes. We were seated quickly, but it took a few moments before a waitress came to place our order. I'm chalking this to the front-of-house looking understaffed, so certainly not counting it against how friendly they were during our dining experience. There's a variety of menu options, but our attention turned to the $35 buffet. It's limited to 90 minutes, but I can confidently say this was one of the few times I felt thoroughly full by the end. You can order from an a la carte menu, with some premium sashimi add-ons for $7. I was pleasantly surprised that larger sushi rolls were all available as well. Once I saw the appetizer portion sizes, I almost felt in trouble with all that we ordered. Every sushi roll, dish, and appetizer were delicious and filling. I do wish they made it more clear which dishes were fried, such as the Age Tofu, since we unintentionally ended up with a lot of fried food. That being said, the Spicy Girl Roll hit the spot, and the Tonkatsu also is a large portion well-worth the price in the buffet. Toryumon is a great spot for dinner, and even greater for its value. A definite recommend for those especially hungry and fans of Japanese cuisine alike.
Went to Toryumon Japanese House for lunch with 8 colleagues. Drinks, appetizers, and hibachi meals came out quickly, but the sushi rolls took over an hour (even the basic ones.) That was frustrating since some of us had to rush through lunch to make it back for meetings. That said, the food itself was delicious. Portion sizes were generous, and the ingredients felt high quality for the price. I'd definitely come back, but probably with a smaller group and only when time isn't an issue.

My wife and I totally love they now have an All You Can Eat Option. So much sushi, appetizers, and dishes to choose from, plus mochi is now included. We have been back three times since they introduced AYCE, first with my dad for Father's Day using an OpenTable gift card, second with a good friend of my wife from out of town, and third just me and my wife. The quality is just as great as Al A Carte and much better for our wallet. This is far better than Sushi Para that we loved before. Service and ambiance is always great as well. Thanks for doing this as us and many others in DC are going through uncertain times.
I've only gotten lunch takeout- but it's amazing so I've done it multiple times! They have a fantastic lunch combo and a few different options. I normally get two rolls and a salad and it's the perfect fresh, light lunch at a great price. The ingredients are fresh and well prepared. They seem to have a bunch of other nice deals on the menu, so I'll continue to check it out! Great spot to order online, head over to scoop it up and eat in the park nearby on a nice day.
Stopped here for a Friday night dinner while in town for a convention. We have eaten at this restaurant at the Arlington location and were impressed. PARKING: Street parking across the street - 2HR limit which is great, but - it's limited availability. We were able to snag a spot and walked over. Location is a flight of stairs down - and situated inside next to a boba joint. SEATING: We had a reservation but there were several open tables. We shared two orders of buns (bulgogi, pork), gyoza (didn't take pic), and takoyaki balls. In addition, we eat got a sushi roll. The gyoza were standard, the buns were very good - succulent meat in each variety and crisp vegetables and sauce on top. I got a maki roll with fried shrimp, spicy mayo, I think the yummy roll which was good. For my entree I ordered the miso ramen, and added an extra side of noodles. Ramen was very good. I have not had a bad experience at either location, and happy to say I'll keep coming back.
I'm a huge fan of this place. My friend and I had the ACYE option here, and the food was fabulously good. I didn't have many of their rolls, so I can't comment on that. Their appetizer game was fire though. I did several rounds of the ceviche, maguro avocado, pepper tuna tatami, yellowtail jalapeño, and everything was absolutely delicious. The ceviche was a standout--the mango added just the right touch of sweetness to balance everything out. Overall, the apps were super fresh and light, so I never felt weighed down even after multiple rounds. Honestly, I wish I lived closer to DC--I'd be here all the time. read more
If you don't know about this place, you'll probably miss it like I did. The establishment is downstairs. The lunch rush was CRAZY busy! Maybe because of their lunch deal (which is a good one). It seemed like everyone was running around trying to take orders and drop off drinks and drop off food. My and my colleague's bento box was missing an item and we waited quite some time for it--along with my drink from the bar. Not saying all restaurants have to be personable, but there was no moment of respite for the staff so the entire meal, no one checked on us and I wasn't even able to inquire about the missing items and just waited for it to come. The food though was delicious. No one had any issues about the taste of their meal. There was concern at the end of the meal when the staff couldn't remember where a colleague's credit card was. My friends and I decided to try Toryumon last night for their unlimited sushi option, and at $35 it's definitely a great value. We started with cocktails, and my mango margarita was huge and delicious, a great way to kick off the meal. Overall, the food was solid across the board. The truffle tuna sushi roll was the standout of the night and definitely worth ordering. One thing to note: all the portions are full-sized, which in my opinion defeats the purpose of an all-you-can-eat menu. I would have preferred smaller portions of just a few pieces so you can try more variety. Service was just okay. Our waitress had a difficult time understanding us, which made ordering a bit challenging at times. The ambiance also leaves something to be desired, it's fairly basic and doesn't add much to the dining experience. That said, if you're looking for an affordable spot with decent sushi and a fun unlimited option, Toryumon is a solid choice. I'm glad we tried it, though it's not a place I'd rush back to. read more

The location reminds me of finding a really low key nice Japanese restaurant when I was in Japan, and the interior is well decorated. The chicken karaage is quite good but rather standard. The sriracha mayonnaise and sweet/sour sauce were good complements to this appetizer and I appreciate that they provide both. The sashimi was quite good and quite fresh though the server didn't know quite what was being served. It's plated beautifully. While I wouldn't say that this has much creativity, it emphasizes the quality of the fish. The uni tasted a bit mushy though. Overall, a good spot for a nice dinner date or catching up with friends. We came around 4 PM on a Sunday and it wasn't busy at all. I also like that it's next to a Gongcha. read more
Came here with friends for a late dinner when I was in town. Looked up the reviews of this place and decided to give it a try! The stairs to get down to the restaurant are a little steep but worth the journey to get inside! We ordered a variety of sushi rolls and appetizers (gyoza and shishito peppers). The rolls were delicious, and so were the apps. We had a great time sitting and talking while enjoying some good sushi! read more
I've ordered carry out from here a bunch and haven't been disappointed, and now coming and dining in, well let's just say my feelings haven't changed! It's a good place for great food and generously portioned drinks!!! My friend and I ordered: rolls and split the steak and shrimp hibachi! Service was great. Ramen was delish. Service could be better but may have been due to cultural barriers. Over all it was a nice atmosphere. The location is underground. The map takes you to the front on office building but you have to go around the side to find it. read more
I visited this spot with a few friends on September 11th. I got to enjoy the Japchae and the seaweed salad. I didn't particularly like the miso soup. The lychee champagne could be perceived weird by the texture but it was tasty. The pear martini was soooo good. The service lacked a little but eventually all of our needs were met. The place has a nice ambiance and good for lunch with coworkers or a date. read more

We ordered the Ajitama ramen and it was delicious! Service was okay, the waitress seemed a little short with us. We got refills on water consistently, though! An altogether pleasant experience since we had a reservation in advance as well. The sushi roll my friend got was humongous! We came back a year later and I got the Fantastic sushi roll. It lived up to its name and had tuna, salmon, and yellowfish. Quite tasty with the sauce on the side. Their lychee martini is highly alcoholic and very sweet! We stopped by Toryumon DC for dinner and had a mostly positive experience--though it did come with a few bumps in service. The TanTan Ramen was the highlight of the night: rich, flavorful, with just the right amount of spice and a savory peanut umami that was absolutely delicious. I'd come back for that dish alone. The pear martini was also excellent--smooth, refreshing, and well-balanced. My wife ordered the hibachi, which had decent flavor overall, but was a bit heavy on the zucchini (about 50% of the plate). Still enjoyable, just not as balanced as expected. Where things fell short was the service--it took a while for anyone to acknowledge we were seated, and I had to ask twice after ordering before my cocktail finally arrived. All that said, the food--especially the ramen--was strong enough that I'd definitely return. Hopefully next time, the service is a bit more attentive to match the quality of the kitchen. read more

They don't advertise their all you can eat properly don't come before dinner if you want it. They also put a 90 minute time limit on it and take a long time to bring your food ordered. The place is located in the basement of a business, you have to go downstairs, there is no handicap option to reach the restaurant. The atmosphere is okay, put you're hit in the face with industrial pipes and vents which takes away from their decoration which they try to make feel like a Japanese Samurai. The wait staff is nice but the prices are high for a place that does all you can eat sushi. The place was empty when arrived for lunch. Place is extremely loud, if you have any noise sensitivity stay away, you can hear every conversation in the place. The music makes no sense it's American western, not exactly what you expect in a Japanese restaurant. For DC it failed to live up to expectations. The food was overpriced two rolls is more then their all you can eat, the size is decent, taste and quality is mid at best. The King crab is not crab meat at all an outrageous price. Definitely overhyped by the locals. Also just a tip if you do come for dinner and have the all you can eat don't leave any rice behind or you will get a surprise on your bill. Lot of Marketing tricks to get people in the door. Sushi is also over sauced for some reason. Truly sad and disappointing given how many great restaurants DC has to offer. Best part of the meal was the sweet potato chip shavings on the one roll. Definitely won't be back, definitely overhyped by a country mile. Which is ironic given that is the music of choice at the Sushi place. read more

To our surprise, Toryumon is an underground restaurant. It has a typical Japanese restaurant vibe. The service was prompt and attentive. We received our meals quickly. We had chicken hibachi, a spicy tuna roll, philly roll, tuna roll, and tuna nigiri. The hibachi was on the soupy side and a bit sweet, but was quite good. The sushi overall was standard, but good. The philly roll was arguably the best I've ever had in 15+ years of eating sushi around the country and around the world. I would skip the sushi and sashimi menu, as it was a bit underwhelming. read more

I'll start out this review by saying that I prefer the Arlington location over the DC location. I visited the DC location for the first time this evening, and had an overall okay experience. The staff at the front who greeted us were very friendly, but our server wasn't very friendly. I ordered the sushi dinner (8 pcs assorted nigiri with tuna roll) and it pretty disappointing. I feel like the quality of the fish wasn't all too great, and some of the tuna roll pieces were served already falling apart (especially on the bottom). It wasn't terrible, but it also wasn't worth the price point of $32 (before tax and tip). The Arlington location quality was very fresh and flavorful. Ambiance is nice, dimly lit and spacious area. Most likely won't be returning to this location, which is a shame because DC needs more quality sushi restaurants. read more

Not bad. Loved their salad dressing and Jop Chae. Delicious. Tonkatsu Ramen served with a nice portion of chicken. Miso ramen was ok. All portions were generous. Noodles curly and thick .Really filling so pace yourself. Miso ramen broth was very rich, on the saltier side. The ice had a funny taste kind of ruined my Coke. read more
I'm sorry, but Toryumon Japanese House is probably the worst ramen place we have been to. Their menu offers various apps, salads, soup, sushi/sashimi/rolls, hibachi entrees, various entrees, and ramen. We had heard from a couple of friends that they make the trek to D.C. to just get their ramen fix here - we were curious, so we came here for a later dinner. We ordered: +the Ajitama Ramen - tonkotsu ramen with chashu, scallions, bamboo shoots, soft-boiled eggs, and nori; you can customize the 'fatback', aka the pork oil level, where theres light, regular, rich, and super rich; the hubs opted for the super rich; noodles were cooked al dente, but the broth had no flavor; the fatback did make a slight difference in making it edible; the nitamago was good +Winter Chicken Ramen - this had fried chicken, scallions, egg, bamboo shoots, corn, and nori; the 'fried chicken' looked like a katsu, that didn't even use panko; there was seasoning on the chicken itself and it was super bland; the broth was horrible, as it was like water; the noodles were cooked al dente, and the nitamago egg was good Service was friendly, but we weren't checked in, nor were we asked if we were satisfied with our bowls. Also, while they had plenty of seats, they were seating all parties near the host stand, which was kind of cramped and uncomfortable.
