I love JINYA. I never been to the DC location. I always patronize the North Bethesda location. Different location but same delicious food. I ordered the spicy pork belly ramen with a boiled egg. It was so flavorful and was very hot. I also order the pork dumpling. You can't go wrong with them. The service was good. Our waiter was friendly but was rushing us to order. The restaurant was going to close in 1.5 hours so I get it to a certain extent. However, it is never a great feeling when you are being rushed. The ambiance was nice. It wasn't too crowded so it was pretty quiet. We were able to watch a basketball game while we were eating our ramen so that was cool. It was a great experience. If you are in the area check it out. They no longer offer gluten free noodles. We came here specifically because the reviews mentioned these noodles. When I requested recommendations, they mentioned rice dishes might be okay but could not comment if there were added sauces that may have gluten. I am writing this review to let others know it's probably not the best restaurant if you're limiting gluten due to sensitivities and I would not recommend for anyone with a gluten allergy. There are so many places that offer something gluten free or friendly I consider this a step back for them. Otherwise everyone else liked their meal. Kids meal is great with a variety for kids to eat from. The pork on the rice was good. Sauces are an extra charge if added to ramen or rice (i.e. spicy mayo). read more

I went to this place on a cold afternoon in Reston. The ramen is not good. I ordered a tonkatsu ramen. The broth was super basic and not proper ramen broth at all, lacked flavor and texture of ramen broth. Noodles were meh, I tried Jinya ramen in Houston as well and it was better there. I definitely need to come back to Jinya and try more of their food. My friend and I were leaving an alumni event and he was still hungry so we went to Jinya so that he can get a bowl of ramen. When we arrived we were able to be quickly seated at one bar. The customer service was good and our bartender was sweet and conversational. She answered all of my questions when I asked about menu items. I wasn't super hungry but she recommended the mini tacos. I ordered the spicy tuna tacos. They were so yummy. I think the sushi to taco ratio was perfect. They're really were the perfect size for an appetizer whether you want something that won't fill you up too much before your main dish or in my case if you just need a nice little bar bite. The ramen here is delicious, although on the pricier side at $20 a bowl. Their broth is on the lighter side and not as rich and their thin noodles could be improved upon. Otherwise, their toppings and meat are delicious. I would recommend the Tonkotsu black or their summer special of Chicken Karaage ramen. Also recently went for their new birria ramen and found it quite unique. Happy hour is from 4-7, which unfortunately no longer includes the $2 taco Tuesday specials. So this was my first time trying ramen but when with friends I will branch out a little. We order nikuman...that little filled bun was amazing!! The edamame was a little more bland than I liked. The real star was my ramen. I had the spicy creamy v ramen. The broth should be sold in vats and shipped. It was really flavorful. First thing first the drink was very good. It actually taste like passionfruit juice with a hint of alcohol, so it was very refreshing all in all the Ramen is some of the best broth I've ever had. Walked here from Walter E Washington Convention Center, not too far of a walk. Dining room was bigger than I expected (has an upstairs space as well) and crowded on a Friday night. Luckily we had reservations and were seated right away. For that night only they had 3 different ramen bowls for just $12 (great deal, since most are $18 and above now). We went with the spicy creamy vegan ramen. We also shared an impossible gyoza. The latter came pretty fast and was reliably good. Skin was thin and crispy. The noodles were thick and chewy, and very copious. The toppings were sesame seeds, spinach, cubed tofu, fried onions, chopped raw onions, and scallions. We came to DC for a long weekend during Thanksgiving. Our first night was on actual Thanksgiving so most places were closed. This spot thankfully saved the day for us and other diners not having traditional Thanksgiving dinners. We were very grateful to the staff working on a holiday. Upon entering, you're greeted with pumping music and was given a choice to eat on the first floor or second floor. We opted for the corner table on the 2nd floor offering an urban view into a neighborhood street. The ramen is on par and super deliciously flavorful. We tried 4 different bowls each have a distinguishable soup base. My only complaint is the soup is not piping hot (but rather lukewarm that you can see the chili oil solidified). It sort of ruins the appearance and appetite. The ramen noodles are al dente and chewy. We tried the shrimp wonton ramen but the noodles were the standard egg noodles found in Chinese restaurants so that was a bit disappointing. From the start the service was virtually nonexistent. What made the experience even more disappointing was that there were more employees behind the bar than there were customers in the restaurant. Rather than engaging with guests, the staff spent much of their time talking, laughing, and socializing with one another while paying very little attention to customers. Whenever we needed something, we felt as though we were inconveniencing the staff rather than being welcomed as paying guests. A good dining experience is about more than the food--it is about hospitality, attentiveness, and making customers feel valued. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. And then, I've never had this happen, they brought out chopstick holders for the table almost insultingly as we were well through our meal using chopsticks just fine. They brought out a dessert to compensate for the lack of adequate service - but disregarded the several food allergies at the table - so it went untouched. There is always someone outside that will accost you. This location feels like fast food - the sheer amount of Uber eats coming and going. Ramen is ok. Normally I can get two meals from a dish but this location skimped on the ramen!
