    12. Pita

Wow! My friends have talked this restaurant up so much that I had to go check it out for myself. Nestled in a small plaza a couple of blocks away from Foster and Lincoln, this restaurant is accessible by both CTA and car. Bonus points, there's free parking!! The restaurant itself is very clean and organized. You can tell that the owners take very great pride in keeping it clean and putting their heart into the business. We were greeted by a very nice lady who explained to us the menu, in there end I ordered a pita made from cheese and the chicken sandwich (#5). We also ordered drinks and then selected a seat. It was a super snowy day so there wasn't much foot traffic but it was also still early for lunch. Our food didn't take long to arrive and when it did, all of a sudden the lunch time traffic began! There were so many people in and out- some stayed and kept their social distance but most took out. The lady at the cashier which I assume is the owner always greeted everyone with so much zeal and respect, you can tell that they really appreciate their customers and many of them appear to be regulars. Our food was so good and so warm- my husband is such a stickler for cold food and will literally complain if the food is not hot hot so the fact that the pita was steaming hot was a major win for Him. I'm not crazy about hot hot food so I waited until it cooled down but I loved that the pita wasn't overly salty, I loved that it was flaky and that the filling was "fluffy" in the sense that there was an equal ratio of eggs and cheese inside that filled up the inside. I love love love a good thick pita that has a lot of filling and this pita definitely had that. There is nothing worse than getting a pita that is flaky on the outside but has very little filling- that was not the case with Toscana!! As for the chicken sandwich- well, it's amazing. I now understand why my friends praise Toscana so much for their chicken sandwich- the bread of their sandwich was perfectly toasted, the chicken was really well cooked and seasoned and the toppings only added more flavor to the entire sandwich. The owner was also attentive and stopped by to ask if we needed anything- you don't find hospitality like that everywhere and so I was really appreciative of her kindness. I can't wait to go back and try more food! Highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the Lincoln Square area or looking to try traditional Bosnian Herzegovinian cuisine!

The cevap and the homemade bread (lepina) here are excellent! The ajvar (red pepper spread) which comes with the meal was a nice addition. The place was clean and the service was friendly. I'm looking forward to trying the goulash next time!

This place is excellent! Has a ton of food that's not on the menu, like beans, chicken and vegetable soup, etc. We got the chicken and veggie soup, goulash, and burek (beef pita) and were not disappointed. I've been here several times and have always loved every bite. On top of that, the bread is the best! We love Toscana! Odlična domaća hrana! Ima dosta hrane koja nije na meni. Npr, grah, pileći paprikaš, itd. Naručili smo paprikaš, gulaš i burek i sve je baš ukusno bilo...i brzo! Došla sam tu više puta i svaki put je super. Hljeb je isto odličan! Za gazdu, kuharicu, i sve tu, svaka čast!

Wow !!! Definitely best Kebapi in town. For as long as have lived in Chicago 30 plus years I never stopped here always went down the street for Palachinke and Chevapi until today and OMG WOW !!! I just found my new go to place for Balkan food. Do yourself a favor and stop by this place try it and you'll be amazed as well. The taste is so authentic I thought for a moment I was back in the old country . I'm not sure what the staff names are but they are very attentive and also they can make you laught with old school Balkan jokes. Lol. Again for a moment I thought I was at the old country . Love this place

Dresscode: Smart Casual / Casual Noise Level: Medium (it gets buzzy after 5:30pm) Thursday night Happy Hour was lively, so it took about 10-15 minutes for someone to come around, but service was attentive once we got going. The food is where Ēma really shines. From the Happy Hour menu, the Charred Eggplant Hummus and Crispy Potatoes were generously portioned and great for sharing. On the main menu, the Indian-Mediterranean fusion Bhel Hummus was a party for my taste buds, while the Hot Honey Halloumi and Chicken Kefta rounded out the table nicely. The halloumi is more of a side than a main, but that sweet-and-salty hot honey combo was chef's kiss. For our finisher, the Chocolate Torte knocked us out. Decadent, delicious and chocolate with lots of depth. Overall, Ēma is an excellent spot to order a bunch of dishes for the table and get an elevated meal without feeling stuffy, and delicious without taking itself too seriously. DO's: - Make a reservation ahead, especially for happy hour 4-6pm - Treat apps like small plates, order 2-3 to sample - Entertain their wine list, they have a lot! - Bring vegetarians here, there are plenty of options DON'Ts: - Dismiss the desert menu. It's fantastic and shareable! - Forget to ask for extra pita with the hummus! - Miss out on the LettuceEats loyalty points (check-in with your server before paying your check)

The tune and watermelon salad and hummus were awesome. We were disappointed with the level of service. We were seated 30 minutes after our reservation time and waited even longer to be greeted by a waitress. Our wine took a while to come out and we had to request our check twice.

The service was amazing too, super professional, friendly, always on top of everything without being overwhelming. And the hummus was especially good, and creamy, which I loved!! I called them because I wasn't sure if the online version would be too slow. We were a group of three that came in Saturday night at 7 pm. It was moderately busy. The staff were all welcoming with smiles on their faces and attentiveness. Prices were fair for the amount of food you receive. Food portions are colossal so I would recommend one appetizer and one entree if you are a couple. They give you a complimentary dish. We ordered arayes with meat, meat toshka, mixed grill with baba ghanouj, fillet of basa fried, and mint lemonade. They also offer you fresh Arabic coffee before you leave. This is about a 4.5-5. -arayes with meat 4 - this was not bad. It's like a tamer version of the meat toshka. -meat toshka 5 - I prefer this over the arayes because they add the Syrian cheese. This one was bursting with flavor the moment you took a bite out of it. The minced beef and lamb just melt in the mouth. -mixed grill 5 - this came with 3 big skewers (shish kabab, kufta kabab, and chicken tawook. It also has tomatoes and onions to help cut down the meat when digesting. There are two heaping portions of biryani and saffron rice and baba ghanouj. The baba ghanouj was creamy and flavorful. It goes well with the pita bread. The meats were cooked medium well unless you want something. I think next time I'll ask for the shish kababs to be cooked medium rare or medium for a more juicy taste. The chicken tawook and kufta were both succulent. -fillet of basa fried 5 - the two pieces of basa fillet were astronomical. It also comes with two different kinds of rice. The fish was flaky, moist, and seasoned. Make sure you add the lemon and eat it with the sauce. -mint lemonade 5 - this was very refreshing after eating a heavy meal.
