Two stars for the wine and service the food ruined the rest of the experience. I ordered the halibut and for $25-$26 I received a bowl full of angel hair pasta, sliced cherry tomatoes and 2-3oz of overcooked fish. The halibut was such a small portion they couldn't help but to over cook it. Very disappointing. If I ever went back it would be sit outdoors and have a glass of wine but that's not enough to get me to return to this establishment. read more

The food is made from scratch! I had the chicken fettuccine, it was to die for, not like those horrible places that substitute sauce for all butter, just truly spectacular. MARCH MARTINI MADNESS!!!! If you have not experienced March Martini Madness at Toscanos, you're missing out! Signature martinis change weekly in the month of March and are themed to match the fancy, hand-painted martini glass that you receive when you order one of those specialty cocktails off the menu (limit of 2 glasses per customer). The themed martinis are created months before the actual event, and they are delicious!! Lee, the bartender, definitely knows how to make a fantastic martini, and if you ask nicely, he might even give you a sample if you're having a tough time deciding which tasty concoction you want to order. Remember to get there early in the week as they have been running out of glasses within 1-2 days even though they increased the number of glasses from last year... this is a popular event!! The appetizers at Toscanos are also fabulous... my favorite is the macaroni and cheese, which is only listed on the happy hour menu but can be ordered at any time (hint, hint, wink, wink... it's totally worth remembering to order!). The staff are extremely friendly and are always smiling! The atmosphere is classy yet relaxing... it's a beautiful little cafe! My favorite spot is either at the bar or at a table near the fireplace. And in the summer they have patio seating outside. Prices are good and the wine selection is amazing! I really can't say enough nice things about this place!! I went a few weeks ago later in the day and sat out on the patio around the fire pit. There were these bugs invading from the river that on any other day would have really made me want a refund, but this place is great! Me and a friend ordered the seafood fettuccine and it was really great. Big prawns, hunks of salmon and scallops in a rich creamy white sauce that didn't get gooky and 'done' after it cooled down. They have a mixed drink that has cucumber in it that is really good. It's been a while so I forgot the name, but it's a totally new favorite that I've never had before. For dessert we shared a blueberry cheesecake slice. More like mound. The waitress was not lying when she said the desserts are made for two! I'm totally going back soon for Adult Sno-cones on a Thursday this summer! read more

Made reservations but our table was not available on time. Once seated we got a very small table in the back, where the echoes from adjoining tables limited conversation. I don't mind paying lots of money for good service and food, but service was at best OK and the food was only adequate. How to you make chicken parmesan tough? Well mine was. We are long time customers of Toscanos and spent a lot on dinners, wine dinners and cooking classes. Lee is extraordinary in making Grey Goose Martinis plus his customer service. Unfortunately we wont be back for our own safety. The 4 people near us obviously weren't from the same household. They apparently are special customers of Toscanos being the owners and their spouses from Trapper Sushi. While it appeared that most everyone else was outside if from separate households, both Tocanos and the owners from Trapper Suchi felt they were above what most people are trying to do to make this Pandemic go away. While we have not been to Trapper Sushi in a while we wont there either since they obviously dont feel the need to comply. Perhaps a call to the Dept of Health. We felt completely alienated with the special treatment this group received and that our safety was compromised by Toscanos by treating others special. Unfortunate. read more

I came here last night to celebrate a friend's birthday just before Happy Hour ended. Small, cozy place. A bit chilly inside, but we are coming right off an Indian summer, so perhaps the auto thermostat hasn't yet been adjusted for fall/winter weather. I had the Antipasta Salad with chicken - it was huge and good. The menu had lots of variety, but I wasn't in the mood for anything heavy so my salad did me just right! Wow! What a great meal we had the other night. I must say you can really tell the difference, when someone really cares about their customers it shows in their smile and conversation. The meal we had we was wonderful, The locally crafted beers and martinis were a great start to our martini clams and bruschetta app's. Laurie was very attentive and gave us plenty of space for us to converse, yet knew exactly when to return to check with us refresh the drinks and take our entree order, which she suggested the Saltimboca, we both decided to go with her suggestion and... ( yes it was outstanding !), We ended our meal with a nice tiramisu, that was a perfect ending to a perfect meal. My husband and I have been here several times and Ive always thought the food was good, but it seems as if something has changed. This time it just fell flat. So I'll start by confessing I like my wine. But I'm not a huge sommelier. I'm not going sniff it, check for legs etc. But if you want to, this would be the place in Puyallup. Their wine list is a book. I will also admit that when they first opened I ate lunch here nearly daily. The "toscanos" salad is one of my favorite salads ever! The bread and dipping oil is addicting. I really think they may put crack in it because I don't just want it...I need it. I've never had a bad entree here. Deserts are seriously off the chain. And if you like your martinis, bring a designated driver with you because you'll want to try them all! Only reasons for not giving a full 5 is its fairly pricey on regular menu. My husband took me here for the first time, and we were both very disappointed. We waited about 20 minutes to be seated, being that it was Mother's Day they weren't that busy. We ordered our food, and people after us were served before we were. We were told there was a big party ahead of us which also arrived after we did, which is why it took almost 45 minutes to get our dinner. My Dinner was cold, my husbands meal was not the greatest either. They took my meal off the bill and gave us dessert on them. We had a fantastic server!! She was awesome. My husband and I came to Toscanos to celebrate our friends birthday last week. We were surprised at how quickly we were seated, and at such a wonderful table with a great view of the mountain, although it was hiding a bit under the clouds. My husband was gluten free so we asked asked our server, Stephanie, what his options were. She took lots of time explaining the choices he had, and all the things they could do for him. My husband ordered the cucumber basil martini, that Stephanie recommended. It was amazing! And Stephanie even asked lee, the bartender, to write the recipe down for us to take home! Lee came over and personally explained how to make it I was blown away by the teamwork! When our food arrived, Stephanie, the other server, AND the bartender brought out our food together. I've never been to a restaurant with so many people all taking care of us. I had the tenderloin medallions, cooked to perfection, and my husband had the gluten free fettuccine, which was just as impressive. Everything was great, we didn't have room for dessert, but the salted Carmel cheesecake sounded so good, we had to take a piece home with us! And boy, was that delicious!! We didn't tell Stephanie that it was our friends birthday, but she overheard us talking, and surprised her with a birthday cake at the end of the meal. Very nice recent experience here. Went with friends on a whim since we were going to be in Puyallup. Very attentive service when we arrived. Hostess station well attended and we were seated immediately. The decor inside was modern, quiet with low light. We chose the patio since it was nice out. Aside from being in a business mall, the views of Ranier were great. As for the service, nothing to complain about. Could be better, could be worse - definitely solid. The wine list was nice. Something for most every budget starting in the 30s and working up. I'd recommend the Montepulciano. Give it time to open up, too. Regarding the food, I don't think you'll be disappointed. The bolognese sauce was quite good. And not much filler in the meatballs. My friends' entrees were great, too. Oh... And dessert. Large portions. Very nice. And a creme brûlée with a proper crack! I really want to love this place, but every time I've gone it has just been meh. The restaurant itself looks great, and the ambiance is nice. I've been here a few times for drinks and I can say that the drinks are good, but for the price they don't keep me coming back. Onto the food, I've mostly had the sandwiches and pastas. Everything is good, just not great. I probably will stop in this summer though, to sit on the patio for dinner one evening. Tried Toscano's this last weekend, and I was impressed with the staff and the ambience. The servers were very knowledgeble and very friendly. The Berry Martini was terrific, and the bartender was very talented. That is where the positves ended. The food has no flavor. I had a Caesar that included green leaf in the mix??? What is that? The dressing seemed to be store bought...thin and weak. The entrees for both of us again were so bland. While the chicken for the Chicken Parmesan was quite moist...the sauce was again...yep...bland. Is anyone actually producing the dressings or sauces on site, or are they just coming out of a bottle/can? The only seasoning spice I recognized thru the food choices seemed to be black pepper. Nope...I will not return. I want to like it...but the food needs to have flavor. read more

Been going here on and off for a couple of years, Sometimes the specials are not quite what I was looking for. Their Margarita pizza can be very good with its cracker crisp crust and tangy goodness from the tomatoes. GREAT wine selection and fairly reasonably priced. Last time we had a chance to put their customer service to the test. I called at 11:30 to place reservations and had an answering machine help me. Called back hours later to confirm and they had no record of my reservation - they did not have a spot for my hoped for 6:30 spot - but they had one at 5 and one at 7:45. I was not happy and I told them so. The hostess said to come at 6:30 - she would make it happen. She did and we had a perfect spot for two next to the fireplace. Next we went to use our anniversary coupon. Alas coupons are not valid on Fridays, - but they were very hospitable about it - the manager extending the expiration date on the card and comped us an appetizer. Oh, and the food that night was tremendous. Someday they will get 5 stars for consistency and breadth of menu selection (not complicated - but something for everyone - consider Marzano's menu - now that is a menu!) read more

However we felt the service was slow, the garden salad was very mediocre. The 8oz ribeye was under seasoned, over cooked and very fatty. Our bill was $126.00. We left feeling as if the quality was not worth the money. We know our money could have been better spent else where. It's frustrating. Really odd location, however that was the only tripping point of the evening. Awesome service, delicious cocktails (dangerously well mixed) and incredible food.
