Went to Edmonds on a hot Seattle late afternoon (be advised the 'cute' part shuts down starting at 5 and all the stores are closed by 6 pm). Bars and restaurants were open, though. Went up there to get lobster rolls at MRKET, but birthday boy decided it would be too heavy. We smelled Toshis from a block or two away and decided to eat there. Very representative Seattle teriyaki. No real seating and it was probably 15 degrees hotter inside than out, so we went across the street and used a closed restaurant's tables. Good rice, chicken and beef. It's fairly good, but not the burnt beef. That was a big disappointment. The chicken is good however.

Solid teriyaki spot, a little pricey but you get what you pay for, it also came with a salad which was nice and refreshing and the service was nice and quick. I would definitely go back and try more stuff on the menu. read more

My favorite. There are many options in this region, but not after you've had Toshi's. Most places have dry, thin, leathery Katsu Chicken. Toshi's is fluffy, and juicy fresh chicken. My friends and I went on a whale watching tour in Edmonds which is about 30 minutes north of Seattle proper. After the tour, we had a hankering for some eats so popped into this main street on Edmonds. It's a really cute street and we wanted some Chinese & Japanese food so went straight to Toshi's! My friends all got teriyaki and I had some sweet & sour chicken. It was actually quite delicious and a really big portion. Prices were completely reasonable, as well. We had no idea there were mushrooms in the fried rice, so my step mom couldn't eat her fried rice in her beef teriyaki. The only description of the fried rice is if you order the meal. The first time I went to Toshi's Teriyaki in Edmonds, a couple of years ago, I was very surprised to discover how good their hamburgers were. Now I go to Toshi's for a burger and fries almost every week. The generous grilled-to-order meat patty is really high quality and flavorful. And all of the typical simple condiments--lettuce, tomato, pickles and a special mayo--are served on a warm, toasted sesame bun. Honestly, you won't find a tastier burger anywhere. Cost is also reasonable and they have a loyalty punch card for regulars. Place is no frills, down to earth and I like that. It's clean and maintained that way during operation. So my hubby loved his spicy teriyaki so much that we went back for more today! I got the teriyaki burger ($4.69) which was pretty good but my bun got soggy from the teriyaki sauce. I need to update my pricing. The regular chicken teriyaki is $6.59 and the spicy is $7.29 so the difference is only .70 (not the 1.50 I thought it was). And way worth the extra 70 cents too! There are lunch specials from 11-2 M-F where you can get regular chicken teriyaki and 3 pcs Gyoza or 1 pc eggroll for $5.99 too. Various teriyaki dishes, Chinese, stir fry, thai, yakisoba, and burgers. Various juices, pops, waters, drinks in a self-service refrigerator. The place was really hopping today too. This place is bizarre. You can get teriyaki, Thai, Chinese, various other Japanese dishes like katsu, also burgers and fish and chips... ooookay. We were here because we were in a huge rush to grab something quick and get to the Edmonds Center for the Arts nearby. We asked what they could make the quickest and unfortunately that was teriyaki which I don't really like to begin with. Oh well. It came with a little salad, two huge piles of rice and a ton of teriyaki that was really salty. So at least you won't go hungry if you can choke down the salty teriyaki. On the minus side, the place is kind of a dump. I've been to several of the Toshi's Teriyaki locations, and this is the least impressive of the lot. The floors have a combination of wax and grime buildup, and it looks like the last time the back room got a thorough cleaning was about a decade ago. Seating is somewhat limited,. They do have a bathroom, but you need to ask because you have to go thru the kitchen area to get to it, On the plus side the food is reasonably good. My wife got the fish and chips, and the french fries were pretty darned good. The fish was OK. I got the chicken teriyaki which was OK. It arrived with a pile of mixed greens on the plate. Probably would have been tastier with some dressing, but probably healthier without. Downtown Edmonds gets busy on a Saturday at noon, and Toshi's was one of the few places we could find a readily available table, but it took a long time to get served. The people at the next table asked to have theirs to converted to a to-go order because it took so long for their food to arrive. Meanwhile there was a constant stream of people picking up the orders they had called in, so it seems that the take-out crowd gets priority. read more
