Tasty mexican food and nice wait staff. This place was really good and packed on a Sunday early afternoon. We were sat immediately and given our drinks and chips and salsa. The place was on the smaller side but cute. The food took a while, but it was hot and fresh so it clearly just came out of the oven. This was a tasty brunch location with a lot of options. Very authentic flavors and options. There was a singer there who performed the whole hour and a half we were there. Most everything was in Spanish but some of the wait staff spoke English. We were dropping a car off at Mendoza's body shop nearby and googled breakfast in the area and decided to check out this because we love supporting mom and Pop shops. The food is so freaking good here!!!! They have a full breakfast menu instead of just the basic breakfast tacos but do have those also and the tortillas are fresh! They grill/roast all of the vegetables before making their own salsa served warm! I wish we lived closer because we would be here every week. Avoid at ALL costs!! 1 - The service was horrible to say the least - the server failed on every level 2 - The food was BLAND - I had the caldo de rez and it might as have just been dirty water instead of broth - FLAVORLESS. My husband had the menudo and it was DISGUSTING. The ONLY good thing we're the tortillas - give the tortillera a raise! 3 - The kitchen also failed in timeliness - how does it take over 40 minutes to deliver soup which should be ready? We waited for 30 minutes before we got our food. We were the only customers. My husband ordered Steak Gaby. The cook did NOT know how to make it. They had to call someone to tell them how to make it. When he got his plate it was NOT what he ordered. The waitress insisted that it was Steak Gaby. She is the one that told us that the cook did not know how to make it. My husband kept telling the waitress that was not what he ordered. She kept on & on that it was. We kept telling her that the meat is suppose to be shredded Not diced. Some of the best tex-mex in Houston, and the service was excellent. The mole special they had was delicious, and had much more flavor than other moles I've tried around Houston. Their enchilada verdes were fantastic too, with a great balance of flavors. Even the chips and salsa were delicious, with the chips being light and cripsy, and the salsa having a good balance of spice and flavor. The tortillas here are amazing! Everything is fresh and handmade. I came on a rainy Sunday because I was craving their carne guisada. Yaaasss. Tortillas are great! Nice and thin how I like them. Carne guisada was tasty and meat was tender. Salsa Verde was so good but not spicy like how I prefer. We took our meals to go and everything was packed well. They give you a really tiny bag of tortilla chips, which could be appropriate for 1 person but not for the 3 meals we ordered. Oh well. That's not why we eat there. The ladies that work there are super nice as well. Planning on going back this week to try the fideo and maybe happy hour! read more

Trigo's is a favorite place to dine more typical Mexican food of the Jalisco region with some thoughts to classic northern Mexico. For me, the flour tortillas served here are perfect. They are more biscuit like, and don't have that oil, greasy look that even some highly respected local restaurants proffer. I especially enjoy ordering the chile relleno here and recommend it. The rice and beans are very good. I won't bandy the word "authentic" but I can tell you that the food served here would not be out of place at the restaurants that I go to when in Mexico. Owner doesn't fix wrong orders. I ordered menudo twice from here and the order wasn't correct. I called the owner saying this happened twice and I asked for a refund and she said No refunds even though I said I live far and it's absurd to drive all the way back just to have an order fixed. Waste of time and gas but she didn't care. She's so rude every time I come in, she doesn't even greet me or say thank you. She just walks right past by me like I'm not putting money in her pocket. read more
