I initially went to A&L for a quote on getting my bumper repainted. Due to scheduling, it did not work out (ended up just doing the work myself - which might be a clue where this is headed next). Unfortunately, the aftermarket bumper I purchased on eBay had some fitment issues. After a week or two of fiddling around, I called A&L and they were amazing! The team said I could stop by on a slow day so they could take a look. When I stopped by, they went out of their way to take a look at the bumper and give me tips on fixing the fitment issues. Definitely found my body shop. Getting into an accident sucks, I really dreaded looking for a reliable place to tix my car. A&L was highly recommended among Chicago's Subaru owners community, and now I see why. They are professional, accommodating, and do some beautiful work. They kept me informed on the status of my car throughout the process, gave me estimates, and they worked with Geico to get and supplemental damage approved quickly. I asked that they keep my old headlight, which they did and even packed it up for me and put it in the trunk. They had the foresight not to drill front bumper holes in for my license plate bracket, which is absolutely awesome. The pain job came out beautiful, I can't tell the difference between my old bumper and new, even though 3 stage paint jobs are hard to match, they did a great job. Was referred to the shop by my good friend and honestly, the service that these guys gave me these past two times I had to take my car to them, is unbelievable. The first time my tire popped, and when I contacted them, it was replaced within 24 hrs. With my windshield breaking and another tire going flat, again, super fast and exceptional service with great and affordable pricing. I had the unfortunate pleasure of needing an auto body shop. I am lucky/glad I found A&L in Palatine. I have lived in Palatine for 15+ years. I have driven past this shop hundreds of times, I always thought it was a junk yard. The service at this shop is second to none, they are friendly, prompt, professional, and patient. The guys in the office know who their customer is and they know that getting your car back to to its original condition is the number one priority. The guys at A&L took a little longer on my car but that was 1) because the other persons insurance was very slow with coming out to make adjustments. 2) they wanted to make sure the job was done right the first time. I'm particular about my car and who I let work on it. I was surprised and pleased to find an auto body shop that had a significant number of reviews and so highly rated by everyone. I had some fender and bumper damage to my 2013 Subaru WRX that I wanted to have completed. I called in to schedule my repair and made plans to drop it off on Monday, November 1st. When I dropped it off, I asked for a couple of additional items to be completed; I have a small door-ding on the passenger side door and there are some scuff marks on a trip piece on the driver's side interior - so I wanted that part replaced. When I dropped the car off with Val, he said no problem and he asked if I would be opposed to painting the trim piece if they could match the color, as it might be more cost effective. I said I didn't mind either way - just wanted to get it all done at once. I asked how soon the car would be ready since I had a rental car through my insurance company. Val said as early as Wednesday, but they would call me. The week went by and when Friday came, I called the shop to find out the status. There was no answer, so I left a message asking that they call me back to let me know when it would be completed, so I could make arrangements to turn in the rental car. The weekend went by and by the end of day on Monday, I still hadn't received a callback. On the following Wednesday (1 1/2 weeks after drop off), I received a call from the shop indicating that my car was ready for pickup. I returned the call later that afternoon and made arrangements to pick up my car the following morning. I asked if the two additional items had been repaired so I could find out how much additional I owed over what my insurance company was paying, but the person that I spoke to didn't have any knowledge of my request, so he put me on hold to find out. When he came back to the phone, he said that the paintless dent repairer never made it into the shop and that they didn't feel they could match the trim piece, so neither of my requests had been addressed. Overall, the quality of the work the shop did on the fender and bumper was good, however they did a poor job of keeping me informed and didn't complete the all of the work that was requested. I wouldn't have minded them not being able to address the door-ding, since that work is subcontracted out, but they should have let me know in advance. They could have easily replaced the trim piece that I had requested, since I was fine either painting or replacing the part, but they did neither. They also should have let me know in advance that the car would be ready on Wednesday, instead of calling me the day of. Based on the reviews so far, A & L has done an amazing job wowing their customers. I was disappointed that I didn't have the same experience. Hopefully my experience isn't a sign of things to come. read more

The other day I brought my car to the dealership to assist me with removing my rear licenceplate (I was trying to replace it): one of the screws (eR...bolts) holding it on kept on spinning, and I couldn't remove it. The dealership told me they couldn't do anything, and that I needed to find a bodyshop to pound out the bolt and rethread the hole. I sought out A & L Auto Body based on Gerry A's review AND because it was close to my home. I called them yesterday morning and told them my situation; they explained that they could assess the problem and give me an estimate. I asked if I should make an appointment, but they told me that I didn't have to. I went straight to A & L when I got off of work. I went into their office and explained what I was there for. Shortly thereafter, the gentleman who takes repair calls and does the estimates moved my car into the shop (it was POURING rain) and took a look at the problem. He asked me if it was OK for them to drill through my plate before they even did so. 5 minutes later, I saw my car being backed out of their shop. I thought they were going to tell me that they couldn't get the plate off, that I would have to come back, etc. But NO - when he backed up my car (close to the entrance so I wouldn't get soaked getting into my car), my old plates were off, and my new plates AND plate covers (neither of which I don't even remember telling them about... I had had the new plates, frames, and hardware in my passenger seat) were on my car. Not only was I a little shocked that they filled in the blanks when I failed to be clear about exactly what I needed to be done, but I was definitely floored that they did the job so fast. The BEST part of the experience? They didn't even charge me. They were SUPER nice... the gentleman sat down next to me, told me my car was done, and I asked him how much I owed him. He said, "Nothing." !!!!!!!!!!! They refused my insisting that they charge me SOMETHING. It's not like I was a previous customer or anything, either. How nice is that?! Genuinely NICE. It seriously made my day. So, to the workers at A & L, thank you: definitely made my day and I am grateful to you for helping me out. You were completely professional... the work I saw your guys doing in the shop was AMAZING....and you were just NICE PEOPLE. I had taken it there to get my Downpipes and Intercooler installed on my 09 335xi Now I know why everyone recommends going to see Anthony. He's professional, easy going and gives a very fair price on all the work done by 2 BMW master technicians. You just can't beat A&L's service and price. I also did the walnut blast while it was there, I could not believe that my valves were that much gunked up. And then shown the after photos.....wow! It's as smooth as the first day it came off the assembly line. If you have N54/N55 motor over 30,000 miles. its recommend going here to get it done for $350. Someone accidentally backed into the side of our vehicle, which needed some rust repair above the rear wheelwells and a fender realignment anyway. It was a fairly big job and, after having seen shoddy work on a family member's Subaru by another body shop in the city, I felt it important to find a reputable shop with which I could establish a long-term relationship (not that I plan on having my vehicles get hit regularly). I spent the better part of a day researching shops and found out about A&L on a Subaru owner's website forum - others were raving about their fastidiousness and quality of work and, after doing more Googling, I also saw folks on several BMW boards raving about how great A&L was and saying that they didn't dare let anyone else touch their vehicles. I then checked Yelp and saw equally stellar reviews here. I figured I couldn't go wrong by bringing them my run-of-the-mill Toyota. Boy, was I right - when all was said and done, the car looked perfect! The color-matching was exact on the paint - and this was a fairly old vehicle, the repaired quarter panels looked factory fresh, the new door looked beautiful. The car was returned freshly washed. I was very pleased with the work and made a point to mention A&L to friends and relatives who asked about it. Shout out to Val and Anthony - they and their crew are consummate professionals! Even if you're not near Palatine (I'd say even if you were in NW Indiana), it is well worth driving past other body shops to get here. I got rear ended but it didn't cause major damage, but my rear bumper needed to be replaced. A friend had previously taken his car here to be repaired and he said they did a great job. so I brought my car here to get an estimate. the guy that rear ended me didn't hit me square on and the damage was mostly to the right side of my rear bumper. Val noticed that there was some damage to the right rear body panel that two other body shops didn't notice. he also sat down and explained things to me and in the end that won over my business. it took about 4 days to replace the bumper, but it was because the other driver's insurance company wanted to use re-manufactured parts. they had pictures of the entire process and he showed me how the re-manufactured bumper was a horrible fit for my car and they convinced the insurance company to pay for an OEM bumper instead. I got my car back and the bumper looks as good as new as if nothing had ever happened to my car. they did an excellent job and I'd go to them again for any autobody needs. read more

Thanks guys. I stopped by today to get some touch up paint for my classic jeep. I was a $25 sale in a sea of thousands of dollar body repairs/upgrades. I felt like my purchase was a million bucks. Not only did I get what I came in for, but I was able to talk to Val for a few minutes about my jeep and some issues he saw on the body that would likely need to get taken care of or nursed to keep them from getting worse.
