I made sure before calling on the site for the vision coverage that they were covered. On there it clearly has them listed. Anyways I got the appointment scheduled. When I arrived on time today I was told that they don't accept the medic aid vision insurance. I'm very disappointed that they did not inform me of this when I set up the appointment nor prior to the appointment. It was very unprofessional. I don't appreciate my time and gas being wasted like that. I definitely will not be returning after that experience.

I was very impressed with the office staff, their helpful attitude, and the office overall looked very professional and gave excellent customer service. I had wanted wireless frames and after a long time, they offered me another one in its place with a thin wire. Ironically I was told it was exactly the same price as the other one. I got a second opinion from another optometrist who told me that with the medication I'm taking I would require dilation to check my eyes. She said it was a requirement by my insurance. Menning's office asked me to write down all my medications and after looking at the list, never said I needed my eyes dilated. My second opinion doctor said the medication alone should have raised a red flag that my exam would require more based on my insurance carriers requirements. The doc told me my eyes were the same. My second opinion doc told me it was different. I learned that Menning's office never billed my insurance for my 12/10/18 exam nor for the frames and lens I wanted. Instead they attempted to bill me in 2019 which meant I wouldn't have qualified for another pair until 2020. It's a good thing I sought a second opinion or I would've never learned this. I'm waiting to verify what I was billed from Menning and what my insurance paid. I would honestly suggest you make the extra effort to see someone other than Menning or Nolz. This was the worst experience I have ever encountered.

Had I not reminded them, the prescription was only for distance. I've called multiple times to ask about a referral that apparently never happened, and I was recently informed by two different people in the office that 1) the referral was definitely sent, and 2) the referral was never sent, and 3) they have no record of my multiple calls requesting the referral be revisited. As of June 5, I still had not had contact with the referral doctor, so I called her directly. Her office said they'd never received a referral. As for billing, I charged for things my insurance would cover, but were never billed for. After many phone calls, I managed to get that straightened out. My insurance paid, but I had to make sure they billed my insurance company. In addition, I was charged an additional $50 for my prescription, on top of the eye exam. Who does that?! My sense is that this office is inept and dishonest. I advise anyone reading this to find another eye doctor.
