I've been a customer for over 10 years and have always valued this company for its quality work and transparency. Unfortunately, my recent experience was very disappointing. I called for an after-hours weekend HVAC issue and was quoted $140 for the service visit and $210/hour. The technician was at my home for less than an hour, but I was charged $770 due to a three-hour minimum that was never disclosed when I authorized the service. Had I known about the minimum, I would not have agreed to the call. After more than a decade as a customer, I'm extremely disappointed to feel this pricing was not transparent. I will be taking my business elsewhere. If you use this company for emergency service, I strongly recommend confirming all minimum charges and total potential costs before authorizing the visit. Update: Unfortunately, my concerns have only continued. The invoices were not provided until I requested them five days later. I have now had three separate conversations attempting to resolve the issue and was told a billing error occurred and I had been charged plumbing rates. The information provided in each conversation has been inconsistent and, at times, misleading. The original fees I was quoted were repeated to me, yet the charges and explanation continued to change. It appears that Brandon, Barry, and Sabrina each have different information regarding rates, minimum charges, and how this matter should be resolved. As of 8/14/26, this issue remains unresolved. After more than 10 years as a customer, I am extremely disappointed by the lack of transparency, consistency, and accountability throughout this process. My shower was dripping. I was told $120/ hr & parts. OK. I figured it was the valve and it was. Tech didn't have one on his truck so he had to run and get the part. The $71 part at Home Depot cost me $127 plus the $120/hr time to go and get the part. If it was a part in inventory, on his truck I could understand. Worth it so I could save the time. To crank me up for nearly twice the cost PLUS the time to get the part you didn't have seems excessive. Even a 1.1 multiple or 1.2 multiple would be a bit more fair. You're not even floating the cost of the part. You immediately get your money back when you charge me. Nice tech, showed up when they said. The staff and technicians were all very nice so I need to start by saying that. BUT I feel I was extremely overcharged (about $1000) to simply tie two existing lines together when I was originally quoted $300. We had an outdoor kitchen that was already pre-plumbed (aka the lines were in the ground and run to the crawl space) and just needed to be tied into the house and faucet. We also needed a simple drain installed for the sink which was also already plumbed except for the actual elbow attachment. I was quoted about $300 total for the work. They charged labor time while their technician ran to the store... They show up with a work van but still don't have what they need? I suggest doing an on-site estimate and showing up prepared. They did ultimately knock one hour of labor off ($90) but this really doesn't make up for the fact that they were unprepared, required two trips out to the house, and charged for labor to pick up supplies because they were unprepared. This is an abuse of the trust clients place in the contractors to do the work with their best interests in mind. I would have gone with another company and/or just done it myself had I known this. read more

I call total Group to yesterday come to fix my ice maker and they send technician today morning and he checked the ice maker then he said it cost $650 to replace thermostat. The guy said $220 for 2 hours I spend sings left the shop and $430 for thermostat replaced one hour work. When I call them yesterday they said we charge per hour $110. Then today they go per the part they replace. Them astemete is triple than normal cost. Then I paid the $220 I tel him don't replace it then I call someone else to come to fix it and the thermostat was not the issues. Having to have work done on your AC unit is never fun. My AC unit hasn't been keeping my house cool during the day. It kept trying hard - but, never would hit the right temp during the heat of the day. At night - it would catch up - but would warm up again during the day. I had no idea what effect this would have on my electric bill. I found out this month when I had a $200 electric bill! I knew I needed to get this fixed ASAP. So, I called Total HVAC to set up an appointment since they are so close to my home and the reviews on here were all excellent. The woman who answered the phone said that she thought she could get someone out in the next 30 minutes! I was blown away. So, I left work to meet them at home. Shortly after arriving home they arrived to check out the unit. They took off their shoes at the door, went upstairs and into my attic to check out part of the heat pump unit. They said it looked fine. Then they went outside to check the condenser unit and run some tests. They found out through their testing that it was a little low on coolant. Then they explained to me my options and let me make the decision. In all - the call took about an hour from them checking the system, doing some tests, checking the thermostat, checking the air return/filters. And it cost less than I expected in the end. Fast. Professional. Didn't try to oversell me. In all - a great experience. I hope I don't have any more issues in the future. But, if I do - I know who I will call. read more

We had 5 trane units installed by Total over the last dozen years. Unfortunately they have not focused their attention to maximizing profits and not providing good service. I had a warrenty covered issue with one of my units and the quote for repair was egregious. I called trane and they recommended against using Total Group and indicated they are not authorized dealers, they indicated the quote for repair was way out of ordinary charges. They recommended an authorized dealer in nashville, who repaired the unit for almost $1000 less than the Total group quote. Be wary of them. read more

I called Wednesday when my heater quit working and they had a repairman (Paul) out the same day. Thursday I got a quote (Jeff) and Friday the new Unit was put in and we were up and running (Clay and Will). I went with Total Group because Clay came out a year before at my daughters house, was very impressive, professional and I was really happy with the workmanship, price and value. I would highly recommend Total Group for your HVAC needs whether it is service or a new unit. Ask for Clay, but they are all great. I wrote a review on this company a couple of weeks ago. They contacted me right away of course so I would remove my review. They said I would be refunded my service fee by the end of last week. Still no refund. So my review is back up. I was left in the heat on July 4th weekend because they opted for the choice to make more profit rather than do the right thing and fix my unit. My husband found the part himself and another company fixed it in a very short time in the same day after Total HVAC mad me wait 4 days. Now they won't refund me when they said they would. My parents had years and years of issues with their AC and the previous company they worked with. They finally called Total HVAC and they drove the almost hour drive to come and do an estimate and see how they could help for free. After he found out all the issues Jeff gave my parents an honest quote and did quality work. Now when me and my family visit my parents it is so nice and cool in their home! The air barely runs and it stay nice and comfortable. So sad my parents spent years of money and time when they could have called Jeff at Total HVAC. I had been having issues with my air as well and he came and had a look. I would not use them again. They diagnosed a unit on a rental property i own (yet live out of town so could not see the issue) and they provided me with an estimate for 2800 to service, and 6884-8884 to replace an ac unit. Reason being cable burned or that someone had "sat" on top of unit, which is why it shorted out and service guy said he would send pics but never did. They called repeatedly pressuring confirming that day to have a new unit put in sometime that week. Jeff the estimator came out on 10/31 to diagnose our 3rd floor cooling issues. 5 ton capacity unit was only operating at 4.2 ton efficiency. They expanded the size of one register, cut in an additional register & added a third floor cold air return. Even though they did not do the original installation they took their time to figure it out, showed up on time, held to their original estimate & cleaned up after themselves. This company came out for a service call to inspect our system. They reported several questionable damages - all requiring $1700 just to investigate. (After paying a $249 service call)They mentioned that they would likely find many more problems and it may be best to just go with a completely new system. Upon getting a second opinion, a new part that cost a few hundred dollars fixed the system. However it was reported that many wires seemed to have been intentionally disconnected by a novice. In my experience Total Hvac was dishonest. It's not certain if they are knowledgable. read more

I saw a couple of negative reviews on Total HVAC on YELP and was a little nervous about using them. After speaking with Denise via email and after hearing about their A+ BBB rating and their years in business, I decided to give the company a try. I needed some electrical work done on a new screened porch and their technician Patrick came to my house to complete the job. He was an awesome worker and although it was a long job with several different tasks, he completed each one expertly. As well, he went beyond the call of duty to explain how each item worked, made a couple of suggestions that enhanced the project and even cleaned up. We couldn't be more pleased and will definitely use Total HVAC again. Absolutely one of the most dishonest companies I have ever come across. I asked them to come and perform an annual maintenance and tune-up on a dual unit HVAC system that has been in service for 18-19 years. I was having the work performed prior to closing the sale of the home as a favor to the new owners. From the moment the young technician came in he was looking to bad mouth a system that had run like a champ for so long. Said my return duct was undersized, fan motor was weak, etc. They did a good job cleaning the coils, but subsequently I had another firm come out that found one of the units to be about 1 pound low on refrigerant. Another thing was that in the process of the work he broke a 1/2" PVC 90 on my drain line. He proceeded to try and charge me $150 after he replaced the 45 cent part. I refused to pay that portion and it was taken off the bill, but only after it was explained that "their book" said the going rate was $205 and he was cutting me a break. What a joke. I wish now I had just stopped the service call early and just sent him back to his shop. The invoice was loaded with crap that would scare any potential buyer for a system that is still going strong. I mean why state on my tune up that units only last 10-12 years. Nope, these guys are crooks just looking to sell unsuspecting people a new unit and charge them for a lot of extra unnecessary work. read more

Always prompt and courteous service. The technicians are careful to put shoe coverings on before entering your home. When I have needed emergency help - such as, company coming and the air conditioning goes out in 90 degree heat - they came running and got my house cool again promptly. It seems that even within the company the employees often don't know what is going on. If you have any kind of problem with your repair/installation, they will not keep their promises and borderline lie to you. We bought a $7000 Trane HVAC unit less than three years ago and it stopped cooling the house last week. We called Total HVAC and they sent someone out within two days (yay!). Tech indicated that the problem was the freon line and that they were seeing this problem in a lot of these models and we would be able to get it fixed easily under warranty. He indicated that it was a known defect in the product. Got a call from Total HVAC three (very hot) days later saying that Trane would not cover the part and they didn't kniw why, that there was nothing they could do about it and to make it up to us, they would only charge us $500 to fix what usually costs $900 to fix. Called Trane, who basically said part is not covered under warranty and we could appeal, but they couldn't even give me a ballpark idea of how long it would take...can't wait an indefinite amount of time in 80-degree weather, so I guess we are just out of luck. Very disappointed in the lack of knowledge of Total HVAC as a certified Trane dealer in the ins and outs of their primary HVAC product and both companies' lack of support for the products they sell...will not purchase from either Trane or Total HVAC in the future. read more
