I want to give high marks to Janelle who has come out to the property multiple times, when there were flooding issues, timer, problems among other things. She is quick to diagnose the problem and fix it on the spot. She is always kind, sweet, smart, and wanting to make sure the problem is remedied as quickly as possible. My wife and I have been wanting to put in concrete, a patio cover, and other improvements at our house. As is the case we had to wait a number of years to be in the financial position to move forward, and once we were a friend of ours recommended Total Landscape Concepts as they redid her yard. After contacting TLC David came by for an initial walkthrough and estimate. He impressed me with his professionalism, detailed questions, time he took with me to walk the premises, and insistence on covering any and all concerns I might have had. Not only did David come out for this work but he did it on July 4th! My wife and I did do our due diligence and serviced quotes from other companies just to make sure we covered the gamut. Pricing wise TLC came in middle of the pack or slightly lower than the others we approached, and included more work! Not only did we have concrete put in, we also had drainage, new gates and fencing for the side yards, all new sod and sprinklers for the backyard, the works. When it came to to start the work David brought in Ben for a lot of the day to day heavy lifting. Ben was diligent, courteous, meticulous in his craft, and so easy to work with. When David came on-site to help they could knock out quite a bit between the two of them. In the end we could not have been happier with the work these gentlemen and the company did for us. Even at the final inspection David noticed things like some of our sprinklers not reaching the full sod or a leaky water valve that he had promptly replaced by Ben the same day. The last thing I will say is that when we told David we were looking to put in a patio cover he provided us a great recommendation of Vern at New Dawn Awnings, who he does a fair amount of business with. I will complete a review for Vern on their page but we could not have been happier with that experience as well. Very fair pricing, quick install, and quality work. If you are looking to have any exterior work done at your house I would not hesitate to recommend David and his crew at TLC! read more

While I will be the first to tell you they are pricey, i feel like it's worth the cost because they are easy to communicate with, they show when they say they will (I've had trouble with landscapers who don't show reliably and it's such a pain!), they are quick, and I've found all of their employees to be respectful and professional. Recently I had a tree SMUD gave me planted by TLC. I probably could have done the work but it would have taken forever and I would have made a mess! Jeff got an estimate to me quickly and I was on the schedule within a week. Memo and Marvin put my tree in and made my irrigation system run to my new tree so quickly and cleanly I was shocked. We had TLC come out to update the landscaping for our new house and maintenance. Jeff was very helpful in picking out plants and setting up the project along with an irrigation audit. TLC isn't the cheapest option but they were the most thorough, and when it comes to my house I always choose quality over price. Gilbert and his team do the regular maintenance and they were prompt and do a great job. I look forward tobtheor maintenance along with our new plants. I recommend them. read more

I received horrible landscape services for a very high price. I tried and tried to get them to do what was promised in contract but the majority of the time they did not perform as promised. As a result of insufficient landscape maintenance my yard had weeds everywhere, volunteer growth coming out of shrubs bushes and decorative ground cover. They let problems grow and then I'd have much larger problems. One year they let my lawn die out in patches. I'm physically limited so I thought they'd eventually come around so I could avoid the process of finding a new company to take over our landscaping needs but there were only glimpses of TLC taking decent care of my landscape. i would send photos after photos with descriptions of problems to their office seeking help but they never consistently resolved the issues. So I had to fire them. I now have a company that is doing what the contract required for significantly less cost. I should have done it sooner. One positive the people were friendly. read more

Scheduled appointment 2 weeks out for estimate to plant a tree as they couldn't give estimate on phone. They only had mid-day apts so I took the entire day off. I waited for their arrival for 2 hours, tried to call and text with no response. Eventually they called and stated they attended their daughters basketball practice and forgot to cancel our apt. I sat waiting on my day off, not doing activities with my own kids. They advised me to text photos of where I wanted my tree planted and they would give me an estimate. I took and texted pics to them and they again never responded. Complete disrespect of others time. Would not recommended bothering to even try and get an estimate with them, obviously they lack follow through and professional customer service. read more

The TLC team has been taking care of our routine and seasonal landscape maintenance ever since we moved to the area. Gilbert and his crew are considerate, efficient, and reliable. They even proactively respond to severe weather in ways I never expected. After a major wind event, they called to ask if we had any downed limbs or trees that we needed removed. We had Jeff come out for an estimate on backyard clean-up & trimming of our drought-tolerant yard. He worked with us to get the cost in line with the job. Day of the job, the Specialty crew of Jenelle & Blake arrived on-time; we walked thru to review the job and they got right to work. They cleaned up all debris, trimmed all the plants just as we discussed, replaced bark & mulch, and meticulously cleaned up all trimmings afterward. Overall they did an outstanding job, and accomplished in 3 hours what would take us a week or more! We are completely satisfied with Total Landscapes, and we would not hesitate to use them again or recommend them to anyone. read more

They weren't doing any yard work. They were smoking and throwing the buds outside their car. Currently California is on fire and some of them are started by idiots as these. It was easy to communicate to TLC's office, business manager, and crew. They always picked up their phones and answered their emails. The ground crew (the "M" crew) was great and followed up on everything they did. When I asked them to put some soil to fill the 5" gap under a shared fence, they got right to it and knew just what to do. They took the time to think through the solution and got it right. If the first solution didn't work, they had another plan. If I had any questions, they were happy to oblige. Yes, it may cost a little more, but it is far better than trying to contact individual contractors that I might have to sort through to get individual tasks, e.g., irrigation, cleanup, and plant installation done. read more

Overall: 0/5 Customer Service: 1/5 (The admin staff was nice) Pricing: 0/5 We just moved into a house that has not had a lot of updating since it was built in the 80s. A huge issue is the drainage on the property, which is on a hill. We wanted to add a drainage system and convert a patch of tanbark back to the lawn area it was originally (inclusive of sprinklers). Since the area had existing sprinklers, we wanted to see if we could get a company to help us reconnect, and do the drainage. Total Landscape was recommended on Facebook and so we reached out. Every correspondence took much longer than anticipated. TLC eventually came out to give us a quote, and would only provide a verbal quote of $7500. They said they sent the pdf of the quote, but claimed it was my email account preventing us from receiving it. They also said they couldn't give us specifics until the did an audit of the sprinklers and drainage, and it would cost $900 (4 hours for 2 workers). I tried to push on what they would learn, and how much it would save us. They kept emphasizing it would save thousands of dollars, and it was to do a full run down of our systems. I finally gave in, and I regret it. It took 3 hours, the drainage even less (as we had NO system to evaluate). And I was still charged $900. After WEEKS of conversing, I finally got a quote (turns out they had my email wrong the whole time and never double checked it). The quote was higher!!! For ~$9K!!!! And the drainage would be to my back neighbor, who is lower elevation to me, not the front of the house, which is the proper way to do it. So, it would have been the same cost to get a whole new system, in a third of the time, and done better. And, they refused basic improvements other companies were offering to include. I can't believe I wasted $900 and 2 months of my live playing phone tag. read more

If I could give this a ZERO I would. This company is not reliable, they don't care what the customer wants and they do not follow up with you prior to them completing the job. We were quoted to have our front yard leveled, graded and take out roots from an old tree that we had taken down a year ago. So basically have it be ready to lay down sod, which my husband and I were going to do. First they called me the day they were supposed to start the job and said they will not be coming that day so they will be coming the following day - fine, I understand things come up. Then about 2-3 days later they told us that they needed to rent a machine which was $450.00 to take out more of the roots so they can level it. So we agreed to pay the extra money and let's just say majority of the roots were still in the ground when they were supposedly done. I think that was all a play to get more money out of us. Let's fast forward to over a month later and they just stopped showing up and didn't even tell us that they were done. We found out they were done when we kept getting harassing calls that they needed our money now. Come to our surprise we didn't even know they were done! The front yard didn't even look ready to put sod down. My husband had to re level it and take 2 full trailer loads of dirt and roots after the fact. I tried to call and have the supervisor call me, and I was told that the owner would call me. Still waiting for that phone call, almost a month later. These guys will sell you that they will do everything right but really they do bare minimum work and not even do the job correctly. Find another landscaper. She came right on time and we walked and discussed the needs we had for the property. We had wanted ongoing weekly maintenance and liz said she would provide an estimate for their highest tier of maintenance and the second highest. She said we'd receive it the next day. 4 day later, their office person called us again, trying to set up an appointment, because we had queried Yelp again. We told her liz had been out and she had promised quotes the next day and we had never heard from her again. The office person sad she would check into it. Everyone we worked with from TLC has been knowledgeable, friendly, and available via call/text/or email. Mike provided the assessment, helped us come up with a plan, and got a very thorough and itemized quote to us (this was all free and must've been taken at least a few hours of his time between the visit where we went over everything and the thorough quote he created). Josh and the crew that did the demo and landscaping were all friendly and I felt comfortable the whole time they were in our yard. Even our two small bark-prone dogs gradually warmed to them being around.
