After the painful massage I had earlier, I ended up going to Oceans 85 because my body was in so much pain. Thankfully, this massage was a completely different experience. Even though there was a bit of a language barrier, it didn't affect the quality of the massage at all. The techniques were smooth, relaxing, the pressure was good, and the massage oil was properly reapplied so there wasn't any uncomfortable friction. I had such an amazing experience at Oceans 58 Spa in Costa Mesa! Lily and Lucy are incredible. Lucy was my masseuse (and also at the front desk), and she was so kind, sweet, and welcoming. She gave me the BEST deep tissue/acupuncture massage I have ever had--so precise and effective. It was $60 for a full 60 minutes, no extra charge for the shared room as a couples massage. They didn't cut into the time for changing, and she even went a little over. We were able to get in last minute at 9 PM, which was such a lifesaver. This was actually my second time here, and I honestly can't recommend them enough. Amazing price, incredible service, and two of the sweetest masseuses you'll ever meet. My first time coming in for an hour massage session, I was a bit skeptical about the location & the feeling of it, but when I came in, I was greeted by Lilly, who I will give a HUGE shoutout later on in the review, but she kindly walked me to the massage room. Looking at the location, i felt very at peace & the vibe was very serene. Lilly did a wonderful massage session, her pressure was perfect & she had AMAZING hands. I kindly told her that my entire body was stiff like a rock, & she loosened up all of the knots on my shoulders & entire back. Great spot for the price! This is my go to massage spot for a 90 minute massage and I always leave feeling relaxed. I prefer hard pressure and every therapist who has assisted me has always asked me if the pressure is good or if it was to hard in certain spots. My boyfriend and I also came here for a couples massage for my birthday in October and I have never seen him so relaxed. He is not always a big massage person. I have always had polite service and have never had any issue. Room is always clean, lights are dim for relaxation and the ambiance is calm. Bathrooms are also clean as I use them frequently before a 90 minute session so I can stay nice and comfortable! Occasionally doors a left open, but with Covid I'm okay with the circulation in the room and the staff do a great job keeping me covered! read more

My husband and I got a massage here and were asked to pay $60 per person up front (which we did). The woman who gave me a massage wasn't very good and barely got out any of my knots since she didn't apply enough pressure (even though I asked her to do it harder multiple times). After a while, I just got tired of correcting her. At the end, I tipped more than 10% and they pull out this chart that indicates how much tip they expect based on the length of the massage. This is a TIP which isn't mandatory, if they expected more money they should have raised their prices. I always tip well for a job well done but I didn't even get a good massage. Then they started argujng with us to try to get more money. This is so unprofessional. read more

To be honest, I had two great masseuses but the last one I had hurt my back so much and refused to listen to me when I said things hurt. She was literally rubbing my spine and bones instead of actual muscle. Alright, buckle up Yelpers! I walked in today (Sunday) around 2pm on a whim after I called my regular massage place and they were closed. Now, I have to preface this review with...I've had a few massages in my day. ;) So, I wouldn't say I'm a snob, just a bit of a connoisseur. The hostess at the front seemed VERY frazzled - called someone to see if they could get me in and was VERY loud. I found this curious at first, but then rather annoying. She kept calling me 'lady' vs. asking for my name...also rather curious, lol. ;) I was asked to come back in an hour, which I did. The hostess was equally loud this time around and sounded like she was shouting at my massage therapist - who does that in a massage place?! #imean indoor voices people, indoor voices. Lou Lou was my massage therapist and SHE. WAS. GREAT! I'd give her 10 stars if I could - very attentive, great technique and only asked if I wanted CBD oil once (other places try to push it, and it's never helped me so I don't get it). Temp in room was fine and the bed temp and comfort was good. I also told her it should be more quiet in there and she agreed. Another curious thing, they leave the doors slightly open which I found odd once I opened my eyes - leaving guests to take a peek as they stroll down the hallway with 'hostess with the mostest' talking to them the entire way to the room (and did I mention loudly?). I'm guessing this is because they have to come in and out for various reasons. Price point is good. The place itself was ok, lots of decor, room seemed clean, but she did have to leave twice to get hot towels and the hot stones. Would I go back? ONLY if it was quieter this time around, which I doubt would be the case since this seems to be how they roll. There was a different hostess at the front when I left and she was gentler and more soft spoken - can we get a slow clap for her? Suggestions...if it has any merit: - take the greeting bells off the front door (it's incredibly distracting to hear every 15 minutes when a customer walks in...reminds me of walking into a 711...ding dong, ding dong) - turn the music up in the rooms a smidge in case you get mister groaner as your neighbor (lucky me right?!) - for the love of (whatever you believe in)...close the doors - it's called privacy and it helps with the exterior noise - use quiet voices and encourage your patrons to as well -- no one wants to hear an entire conversation about what to tip while you're trying to zone out and relax, or how the weather is at the moment That said, I am admittedly more sensitive to noise when I am paying to relax, so give this place a try - maybe it will suit you just fine (but make sure you ask for Lou Lou!). :) read more

I'm having a hard time deciding whether to love or not love my experience at Oceans 85. I called for an appointment and due to a language barrier I could hardly make sense of things - I was finally convinced I had successfully made a next day appointment for my dtr and I but after hanging up I realized they never asked my name or took my number. I did ask how much for a 60 min massage and I understood $50 - upon arriving 2 signs clearly state the price for an hour is $60 - they also charge you before going in but you can add tip after. No communication was given upon entering the treatment room - the gal just led me in and shut the door - so I assumed that's when I get undressed and find the folded up sheet to place over me. No communication during the massage other than "is the pressure okay?" and she understood to not touch my injured foot that I had told her about. Very thorough massage with full body weight added as my therapist climbed on the table to really dig in. If you aren't used to that... just a heads up. A bit heavy on the oils but she did wipe most of it off with warm towels. I believe it was a clean and safe establishment but just not the typical spa experience. read more

Cons: 1. beds are cheap and uncomfortable 2.always cold inside all they offer is some flimsy sheet not even a light blanket if you ask for another sheet they bring u towel 3.ask u to pay first even when you are NOT new..which is some whaT insulting.they first told me I had to pay first on my first visit but after that..they kept insisting I pay first seems tacky to me. 4. Not very affluent in the English language which makes it hard if not difficult to communicate your needs. 5.something shady going on here as well lots of creepy men here...u get what I'm saying. I won't be coming here again I woukd rather pay a bit more for pampering and at least a bottle of water after service..if pampering n comfort are not at the top of ur list stop by otherwise pass..ur not missing much. read more

We went in filled with deep pain on husbands lower back due to his recent injuries and my neck pain due to remote work with laptop and lack of ergonomic equipment at home. We went for the 60 min couple massage that was deep tissue with hot stones. We laughed the whole time and relaxed out tensions both physical and mental. We walked out with soreness and happy hearts. The next day was still sore but we were all smiles. The third day, we felt rejuvenated and new in both our mental and physical health. Be forewarned... barely 2 days after my first and only visit here I ended up at the ER on the holiday weekend for severe back spasms. I came here on a Thursday evening at the spur of the moment. I regularly get deep tissue massages elsewhere since I have been lifting weights for the past year and a half to supplement my marathon training. I don't know if this is normal for Asian massage places, but I have never experienced a therapist dig both of her elbows into the back and run them up the spine spine. I assume the loud crack that resulted from this move is what led to my intense back pain that lasted all weekend. As I said above, I regularly lift weights and enjoy pushing my body to the limits. I believe myself to have a high tolerance for pain, but the back spasms felt 24 hrs after sustaining injury during this massage had me on the brink of tears. Never before have I felt loss of control over my pelvis as it would buckle over as my lower back muscles contracted. read more

No sore muscles, fingers aren't as stiff, neck doesn't crack as I move it from left to right. I'm a regular massage patron and I'm embarrassed to say I think I may have been scammed all these years. Today was the first day I experienced a real massage. I walked in with knots on my neck, shoulders, upper/lower back, arms, forearms. Knots existed on nearly every inch of my body. Martina is the first masseuse to make my massage about me. She found all my knots and used trigger points and deep tissue techniques along with hot stones to get them out. After an amazing hour, I added another 30 mins because unlike others, she worked hard and focused on all my problem areas. Ladies don't speak any English, and expect a big donation when you leave. Inappropriateness is one of many things can be said about here. They lead you into a very dark room, then they begin to ask very sensual questions. When you just want a regular massage this is not the place to go to. There were 2 Asian women working the day I came here. My foot was hurting a lot after I sprang it jogging and wanted someone to massage my right ankle and ended up with a body massage instead.
