We had a few boxes of tax returns and old documents we needed shredded. I searched on "San Diego shredding" and found Total Secure Shredding, Inc. along with some other local companies. I sent some questions via their website and got an immediate response. I called for pricing and they were comparable to other companies and offered a range of services. Since they are a Disabled Veteran Owned Business and I'm a Vietnam vet, we decided to try them out. They did a great job, answered all our first-time-at-a-shredding-company questions, let us watch our stuff being chopped up, and we were done quickly. We did not have to separate our papers by color or remove the paper clips (a requirement of another company we had picked). This couldn't have been the same place that got all of the 5 star reviews. This is the worst customer service I have seen in a long time. When I first came to the shop, I tried to tell the lady at the counter that I had an e-mail from Mike that explained the charges and what I wanted. She brushed it off and instead took my boxes from me and was headed to the back when I said I would like to observe. The surly and sulking young lady pointed to a window and said stand there. When I went to the window, I asked what type of shredding she would be doing. She said strip cut. I said that I wanted the cross cut. She brought the boxes back to me and said I needed an appointment. I said the e-mail I received did not say I needed an appointment. She became argumentative and said it did. I rechecked my e-mail and it does not say I needed an appointment. Since no one else was in for business I asked to have an appointment right then. She asked another person if he would do the shredding. He came out took my boxes without saying a word and proceeded to the same shredder as before, I asked him if he would be doing cross cut. He told me he would double shred it. That is not what I asked for. By now I was through with the petulant staff and decided to leave with my boxes unshred. I hope this is just one bad day for this business and staff. I won't be returning to find out. Nor will I recommend to others. read more

This is the best shredding service ever! It was so easy and inexpensive and I was in and out of there like lighting. I had 3 large garbage bags full of papers to shred and it only cost me $25. Very quick and efficient, less than 10 minutes total. I had a single box, about 23 pounds of old documents and was able to witness the shredding. Cost $ 7.95, a Postal Annex wanted $16 for same amount and no witnessing of shredding. They also shred those old small computer disks, five cents for each one. I will use them again, when I gather up all my old computer disks. read more

This place is quick, efficient, no-frills, in and out paper shredding. I showed up with a single box, maybe 20 pounds of paper. It was only $7.95 for witnessed shredding! So cheap! I checked out prices at UPS and they quoted me $1.50 a pound! Which meant I would have spent $30 to shred a single box. This place has great prices and great customer services. The internet went down and they couldn't charge my card. But the lady followed up shortly after with an email with a receipt once the internet was back up. I drove out of the way from Oceanside so they can take care of me. I am so glad I chose this place instead of going to a much closer, but overpriced location. read more

I attempted to contact the company for a quote of their services and was refereed to their website. I asked if there was not a live person I could speak with to ensure that I was selecting the proper services for our company's needs and the receptionist refused to provide any quotes over the phone but forced me to come to the office for a quote. I have never heard of a business making it so difficult for a person to use their services. You want me to drive 45 miles to your office for information that can be given over the phone? That's absurd. I could only imagine what the service would have been like had I opted to go with them for service. read more

I found this place using Yelp as I needed to get rid of some documents and two hard drives on old computers. I didn't want to take the risk of getting rid of the computers without shredding them so I came here before moving. It didn't take very long, Mike even helped me haul my stuff from the car to the office and I was able to watch everything get destroyed on site. I had to shred some 35 boxes of documents in an old storage unit in Encinitas. I live in San Diego, so I had to find someone to come out and do it. This firm was very responsive; they returned my emails and telephone calls, and gave me quotes for all their services that I might use. They were there when they said they would be (despite my screwing up and not giving them the address of the storage facility until that morning) and the driver was quite professional, pleasant and gave me a receipt with my costs computed.
