I've been seeing Dr Wan for about five years. He's got a great chair-side manner and knows what he's doing. I'll continue seeing him (I'd give him four or five stars)... however, purchasing glasses from them is incredibly slow and sloppy. In the five years, all my orders have been late to start with, wrong at the first pickup and then late to 're-do'. They don't check or clean glasses without asking them and then act as if they're doing you a favour when you ask them to check the dirty glasses they just handed you... Dr. Lum is patient and explains everything very clearly. Unlike some other doctors I've visited, I NEVER feel like Dr. Lum is in a hurry to get on to his next patient. He is personable and kind. The office is well staffed. Each person has a specialization, so they're very efficient and there's no waiting around. Dr. Ruiz took the time to talk about the exam, results, and treatment plan. I've been inconsistent in using eye drops prescribed by other doctors. They burned when I first put them in, and I saw no improvement. He explained how they work and how long it will take before I feel the benefits. Now that I understand this, I'm motivated to tolerate the 10 minutes of discomfort twice a day because the payoff will definitely be worth it. read more

I have been coming to Campbell Optometric Group for several years, and this review is long overdue. Dr. Lum is the most professional, friendly and all around pleasant healthcare professional I've ever had the pleasure of seeing. I feel he is very thorough in his examination and I trust him unequivocally. As an example, I opted in for the retina photograph offered by his office the past two years which is not covered by insurance. He nonetheless recommended against it because there has been no noticeable change in my eyes or vision. Dr Rodney Lum was great, polite and knowledgeable. I wasn't quite happy about 2 things tough. 1. Their pricing. When I made the appointment on the phone I was told I will only be charged the customary $10-$15 copay for eye exam and my insurance would cover the rest. However they charged me additional $60 for 'contact lens checkup', I wasn't sure what that meant and did not get a clear answer when I asked. 2. Great doctors here who really take the time to listen and help. I saw Dr. Jane Lo the first time and had a great experience. She's no longer working there, but I have been seeing Dr. Arthur Low since then and couldn't be happier. Dr. Low was full of helpful suggestions that helped me find the best contact lens for my aging eyes (presbyopia). It's obvious he continues to stay up on the latest technologies in his field rather than rest on his laurels and that's something that means a lot to me in a doctor. As for the rest of the staff, everyone is friendly and accommodating, and I'd definitely recommend them to anyone needing optometry services. They also have a decent selection of eyewear available too. Mention you found them on Yelp and receive a discount off your eyewear purchase. read more

Family Eyecare Center was referred to me by a friend, but I did my homework and checked the Yelp reviews before making my appointment. My "regular" medical provider was going to charge me over $550 for a routine eye exam (no vision insurance), Family Eyecare Center was under $200. I met with Dr. Taylor today and was very impressed with him and the staff. He was informative, patient, answered all questions, and did a thorough job. I keep meaning to do a review here, but the procrastination bug hit, and when it hits, well, etc etc :P I had been meaning to get my eyes checked for a while now, and even though it was on short notice, Dr Jane Lo was able to squeeze me in quickly and conveniently. She was able to check my eyes, run through all the procedures and explain to me what they all did in a very concise and clear manner. And all before my lunch break was over! (woot!) The visit was very relaxing and the staff was great at providing information about glasses, eye exams, cost breakdown, etc. Overall I rate the experience very highly and Dr Jane Lo did a great job taking care of me. I selected two starts because : meh, i've experienced better... and this is why...: I've been wearing glasses since i was in the 3rd grade, and contact lenses since the 7th grade. I'm 28...and I'm more than familiar with the routine and what to expect. I lost my glasses a few months ago, and a co-worker recommended this place (she hasn't been in like 10 years she says). Once my insurance was good to go, I called and scheduled an appointment to get new glasses..which i clearly stated...GLASSES ONLY. No, instead they get me in for the eye exam, then start talking to me about my contact lenses, have me pop in new ones to try out, then walk me to the contact consultation area. i stated wait a second, no, i am just here for glasses....like i said. i dont need contacts right now and i already told you guys this. so the lady walks me out o the frame show room...here a man who clearly must earns commissions, tried to get me to look at a few pairs of $500 frames when i was browsing the $200-$250 section. That really annoyed me. Finally i told him, ok, these are twice the price that im looking at so no thanks...Then what REALLY annoyed me, was instead of asking if i want thin lenses, if i want anti-glare, he just added it on the quote. I did want these anyway so i just went along with it. (last time i purchased glasses I did not want these lens enhancements $$$) so anyway, then i get to the counter to pay, and they wanted to charge me for the contact lens fitting and consultation and exam!! can you believe that??? This ain't my first rodeo. I know what i said i wanted. The girl behind the counter got annoyed with me when i explained that i was here for glasses only and i wasn't going to pay for anything beyond that. She went and got the eye doc and i stayed quiet and was respectful and let him finish talking, then yet again, i said 'you know, as soon as you came in the room and asked what i was in for i told you exactly why i was here so i am not going to pay for anything else besides what i said i was coming in for. he then took the contact len prescription paper out of my hand and my phone rang and i began telling my husband what was going on, and in the mean time he mumbled something to the receptionist. PEOPLE! please don't let this clinic take advantage of you. I won't be coming back. I didn't raise my voice one time, or cop a bad attitude...I just wanted to get out of there, wait the 10 days for my glasses, and now that i have them, i wrote this review! read more

The last time I got my eyes checked, I went to Lenscrafters which was okay but it seemed very expensive there and I didn't like how busy it was being located in a mall. I decided to go with a smaller practice this time. The staff are very friendly. Dr Wan was great and extremely knowledgeable. The office was large and well laid out. They even do free exams for small kids so my son was seen also. They are very fast and get you in and out the door quickly. I paid much less than what I was expecting and they even gave me a $50 rebate to turn in for buying a years worth of contacts. I will definitely be coming back. read more

This review is for Dr. Jeanine Tuan. I have used her for several years now, and find that she is extremely thorough, knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. She takes the time to explain what and why there may be changes in your prescription and why and how the eye changes. She also give suggestions that regarding your selection of glasses. For example, the previous year I had progressive glasses for both distance and reading. She explained to me that my distance vision was while not perfect not really in need of glasses. That made me trust her and know that she had my best interest and concern for my well being. I would highly recommend Dr. Tuan for your eye care needs. My only hesitation for not rating 5 stars is my experience with the staff that provides the frames and lenses for your glasses. They were not so forthcoming with insurance coverage and cost. read more

I've been coming to doctor Taylor since I was in the 8th grade (2006), and everytime he does an extraordinary job. Today, however, everyone at Family Eyecare center went above and beyond. I had ran out of contacts a week ago, but since my appointment was coming up, I decided to just wear my glasses. Today my glasses broke, and of course my vision being so bad, I can't drive. I called Family Eyecare center, and they were able to get me some replacement contacts until my new prescription comes in. Total life savers. Went to this place for the first time today (Saturday). I was referred by my brother and his wife. This place is AWESOME! I don't remember the first ladies name who did my testing but she was so nice and explained every test she was about to do. Then I saw Dr Nina who was amazing! She was super nice and also explained everything to me. I LOVE this place and I will continue to go here forever!! So glad I tried it! Of all my doctors, Dr. Peter Taylor at the Family Eyecare Center is my favorite. He is friendly, thorough, knowledgeable, and just an all around great guy. The office is always clean and the staff friendly. Their Saturday appointments make it easy for me to get the whole family in at once. I have been fortunate not to have any major issues with my eyes, but I am waiting on my second pair of reading glasses and Ulysses in the optical department easily found a pair I liked. Given a choice I would never go anywhere else. If I was forced to find fault, my only issue would be the lack of an elevator, though handicap accessible via a ramp, it is long and a far distance from the front office and was a long walk for my 84 year old father. But once inside they took very good care of him too! read more

I've been going here for about 20 years. Dr. Taylor is the best! He and his staff are so friendly, efficient and genuine. Dr Taylor has taken the time to explain why at 49 I feel like I'm losing my sight rapidly and he's reassures me that it's (unfortunately) part of the aging process but never makes me feel old. He's funny and entertaining. The only reason I take one star off is that while the front office/Dr & staff are fantastic, the opticians don't reach the same bar set by the others. I have had Dr. Ross as my optometrist for the last 9 years and have been very happy with him and all his staff. My mother and daughter also go to Dr. Ross and are very happy with him. I've been going to see Dr. Larry Wan now for 15 years now! I've trusted him all these years to take care of my eyes and he's done a wonderful job. Every annual visit, my checkup consists of a series of comprehensive tests to check for any issues...ie glacuma. Dr. Wan is still the same down-to-earth guy that I first visited 15 years ago. This was my first visit to Family Eyecare Center, and I definitely will be coming back. : ) Came in on April 30th. The office actually has several doctors. The one I saw (and highly, highly recommend) was Dr. Julia Lee. She was not only very professional, knowledgable, and knew what she was going, but was very friendly, patient, and humorous! She treats you not only as a patient, but as a person. I did not feel rushed. All my questions and concerns were addressed fully by Dr. Lee. A lot of optometrists would want you to get their most expensive glasses and/or contact lenses (more money for them). However, Dr. Lee wanted me to get something that was most "comfortable" for me. Hence she gave me several different brands of trial contact lenses to try. Family Eyecare Center has a super wide selection of eye glasses (many of which are quite fashionable). I was not in need of new eye glasses this time, but I know where to get some when I do. : ) They also have a wide selection of contact lenses. I'm sure you can find something you will like. Not only are their doctors great, but Family Eyecare's staff members are great also (the under-appreciated people at the front desk). I don't remember their names unfortunately, but I remember their friendly greeting and professional service. Met another doctor briefly (Dr. Albert Chang). Seemed like a great doc as well.
