Ive been a patient here for a few years but for some reason, nobody is picking up phones now for an appointment its too hard to het a schedule. They dont care if their patients are leaving because of bad service. No one picks up phones in thier office! Its too frustrating! Ill move to another clinic. A few years back, the eye doctors I had been seeing (and with whom I'd been satisfied) joined this outfit. In the past year, I've had my messages go unanswered on three separate occasions. When I went into their office and mentioned this to a staff member, all they wanted to know is what I was there for - no "Oh, I'm so sorry. That should never happen." Just a silent rebuff and a "What do you want?" Terrible. Today it's been six days since I left my last message regarding problems with both the prescription and fit of a pair of glasses I got from them recently. I had my eyes checked for a contact prescription last week and have been trying to order contacts since then. When I call they always say the contact department is busy and will call back and they never do. It's ridiculous that I can't place an order. I went in for that purpose. Doctor was nice but what's the point if I can't get the contacts I need! I'm almost out of my other ones! I was just there last year and it turns out the doc only gave me an RX for glasses and not contacts when I mainly wear contacts.. They do that so you come back and spend money. read more

Doctors are good enough BUT ordering contacts and follow up customer service (takes MONTHS to get contacts, they don't follow up or return calls) is horrible enough that our family has given up on this place. read more

Dr. Taylor was fantastic, but he retired. I ordered new progressive lenses for my current frames. It took their staff FOUR attempts and over a month to get them right. First they failed to order the lenses as progressive. Once we realized that was wrong (giving me headaches), they placed the order incorrectly again, swapping the prescription from left to right. On the third attempt, the lenses came in "etched" incorrectly. Meanwhile, I was suffering from horrible headaches every day from severe eye strain at my computer. An eye doctor is only as good as his/her office staff. And their office staff just lost them a patient. There are way too many other eye doctors to choose from. Save yourself the time and aggravation and find a doctor with a competent staff. read more

Dr. Gilbert Ruiz, O.D. Is a great compassionate doctor! He had provided excellent Service above and beyond my expectation during eye examination. For my same vision complaint, I had seen a board certified Opthalmologist with high reviews, before seeing Dr. Ruiz. She did not get my eyeglass prescription correctly during the vision exam. As a result my new progressive eyeglasses was unsatisfactory due to incorrect prescription. Dr Ruiz was very patient, professional, and got it perfect the first time! I'm glad I finally found my eye doctor at family Eyecare Center!! read more

My optician retired after 20 years being a patient with him and I switched to Family Eyecare. Dr Taylor has been lovely based on two-three visits I have had but service here is HORRIBLE. The prescriptions on my new glasses didn't work after me trying it for 3 weeks so i attempted to call to make a change. i called a total of five times and all calls that i made were routed to a voice machine. i got a call back after a few weeks and that was after my third try but i was in a meeting so i missed it. i called and left two more messages to no avail. I made my trip to this office to find out that the glasses that i have purchased here have prescriptions that do not match what's in the computer. I would avoid this place if you have a choice. Looking forward to getting the glasses i got here fixed and I am out of here for good. read more

It's all about the $ here. They used to be great but they were sold three years ago and it's all about the $$ now. They're coding things as premium when they're not (and then insurance won't pay). What's worse they've lost records. They're claiming that they don't have any records prior to three years. Hard to imagine that when they bought the practice that the records didn't go with as the patients certainly did. Their back office has always been a disaster and it's just gotten worse. Met Dr. Lum for the first time for a contacts appointment. He appeared nice but seemed like he was in a rush because he said he didn't have time for a contacts fitting, only glasses, even though the appointment was for contacts. He said I'd have to wait 40 more minutes if I wanted to have my contacts fitting. This was disappointing as I got there early for my appointment. Even the front staff people agreed that my situation was inappropriate and actually used "rude" to describe what happened. There was no respect for other people's time and definitely WASTED mine. Sad to say that my family and I will NOT be coming back here. read more

Their follow up customer service is awful. My new glasses fitted poorly, and I was told they couldn't be adjusted since they were Flexon. She then told me that was just the way they fit, and I should learn to deal with it. I took them home and bent the earpieces myself. My sons glasses were slipping, and the tech said it was his fault. Let's not adjust the ear pieces, let's not adjust the nose - instead...it's his fault. When I disagreed, the tech left for the back and hid. It's a great place for buying, but even then it's been iffy finding someone who will speak to you with some respect. Avoid this place. read more

Doctor Taylor who was a founder of Family Eyecare in Campbell was my Eye Doctor for over 30 years. I loved that guy! But now he has retired. In addition, Family Eyecare no longer accepts VSP (Vision Service Plan). When I went to confirm an appointment, they didn't tell me that they are no longer part of the VSP network, that the cost of my eyeglasses would probably go up by $700.00 and I didn't have an appointment! You see, my wife had made an appointment with another eye care doctor. But they tried to fool me into coming in anyway. Also, when my wife told me the truth, they still gave me some story about how it was all the same. Unfortunately, my son was fooled by them in the same way, but he didn't know that he was going to the wrong place, and they totally scammed him when he went in for his appointment. They sold him a bunch of services that are not covered, didn't tell him and made him pay, even though they knew it was all a scam! Then when he tried to have his new prescription sent to another eye care that did take VSP, they would not send his new prescription to them. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL OFFICE STAFF! Don't go the Family Eyecare Center - Total Vision in Campbell!! read more

If I could give Family Eyecare Center 10 stars I would. I had been referred to Dr. Albert Chang of Family Eyecare Center to fit special keratoconus (scleral) lenses, which are extremely difficult to fit, and I had an amazing experience. Not only is he extremely friendly and personable, he is exceptional at what he does. He was able to fit me in a couple sessions, and my vision has drastically improved as a result. Dr. Chang is the best! The Family Eyecare Center staff is amazing as well. They were very flexible and prompt in scheduling appointments, Covid-friendly, and extremely patient when I was struggling to put on and take off my lenses. They were super efficient and quick in conducting tests as well, so I felt that my time and money was well spent. read more

Delayed Way to much I ordered glasses and they where sposed to be here on new years they arnt here yet writing this on the 16th. Delayed way to much they said they would call me with the manager yesterday I got no call customer service at the front desk was bad my appointment was delayed 45 miniutes . Finding the glasses where better and we had a great helper but rather than that 80% off everything wasnt that good wouldnt recommend coming here again.. Still havnt gotten the glasses. read more

Been going here for 10+ years! What happened to this place!? Last exam, I had to go back, could not see! Now I am trying to get another reexamination, as I cannot see again after this years exam. No one calls you back! They do not care. Spent a lot of money here! Office is dirty, front desk is rude and do not know what they are doing! I have Dr. Ruiz and he's so kind. The staff here really works very hard, you can tell. From the moment I called to make an apt I was treated really well. Made me excited to go to the dr because everyone is so cheery and nice. Everyone here is very efficient and they explain all the processes in which they do to test your eyes. It's also very quick. I was blown away by how professional everyone was! Dr. Ruiz is outstanding. He's very efficient as well as personable. I recently had a baby and he gave me SO much information about my eyes, how vision affects babies, etc. he very much cares about his patients. I'm very happy to be their patient! read more

In Sept, I went in for an eye exam and new glasses. 10 months and 3 replacement lenses later, I still can't see clearly. I don't know if their incompetency is because of the lab or the optometry department, however two friends of mine have also experienced their inability to get the prescription right. Every time I've gone back in to correct the prescription, it takes a week or more to get my glasses back - and then they are STILL wrong. read more

When I moved to the south bay, picking a new doctors, dentist, veterinarian, mechanic was all a roll of the dice. I picked a place either by location or yelp reviews or neighbor recommendation....but I have to say that Dr Ross at Family Eyecare was the ONLY provider that I got right on the first try. He knows his craft, is honest and doesn't ever try to hard sell anything (he hands me my prescription without ask). But best of all perhaps is that he has the best sense of humor and stories. He's the type of guy you just want to sit around and chat with past the appointment end, even if you're in a high-backed uncomfortable chair with yellow dilated eyes. Who ever says that about their eye doc? Now if I could only find the Dr Ross version of a mechanic or dentist. If you've got one please send me a message! read more

My friend referred me to this optometrist and since I walked in I loved their professionalism. Dr. Wan did my exam I ordered some frames and a week later I was able to see 20/20. A week later I was hit by a out of control vehicle and my glasses went flying just like I did. Called them took my glasses and they replaced the frame at absolutely no cost! I don't know what's going on with family eyecare center. I've been going to them for 6 years and their front desk has gone downhill for sure. I called to set up an appointment and they couldn't find my insurance which is weird because I've had the same insurance since I've first started going to them. I ask them to call my insurance provider and they refused saying "we can just look it up in the system." I call my insurance provider and they told my I had the coverage. I call family eyecare center again and once again they refused to call my insurance. Isn't it the front desk's job to call insurance? Dr. Change is great, but the front desk needs some serious retraining. I'm going to need to find another doctor after 6 years of going to this place. read more

Bottom line, I don't recommend this business any more for an vision exam for a new prescription for glasses. I used to come here when I lived in Campbell, and was happy with Dr. Taylor, who retired and the business was sold to Total Vision. I called here to get a quick appointment for a new prescription, as I had a DMV eye exam coming up, & couldn't get seen soon enough by my doctor. Got an eye exam from the doctor and a new prescription, which I took to Costco; and when the finished glasses came in, I could not see well with them. Was able to get a cancellation appointment for a vision test with my doctor, and a new prescription which was markedly different from the one from Total Vision. Even though it wasn't Costco's fault, but the Total Vision doctor's fault, Costco graciously did a redo on 2 pairs of glasses at no cost to me. I got them back in time to have my DMV appointment, and easily pass the eye exam with the correct prescription. read more

I have been going to Family Eye Care for 20 years, but the practice has changed hands. I adore Dr. Taylor, but the new staff was not friendly, seemed irritated as I watched them work, and seem challenged by the office flow and who does what. The prices for my contacts was double what I have ever paid. I ordered them elsewhere and saved $200. The wait to be seen in the optical department was so long- I came back another day. I have waited for 3 weeks for my new glasses/ lenses-- when I called to check when they would be ready, the gal said I had been notified they were ready for pickup- on a phone number I have not had for 8 years. (When I call this number it says no longer in service). No apology from the staff, just a laugh. Disappointing, and think it's time for me to find a new practice. read more

Looks like its not just me. I am so sorry to read the reviews on this place. We've going their for over 10 years and this is the worst experience I've had. The front desk was terribly. Picking up my glasses was horrible. I get two sets of glasses and am use to being fitted. I go there because they've been so amazing in the past, checking how they fit behind my ears and asking me questions. This time: "well your probably not use to it". Actually I am used to people doing their jobs and making sure my glasses fit properly before I leave. This place has changed so much. Retraining seems like it might be a good option for most of their staff on fitting glasses and then some customer service seminars on how to speak respectfully to people? read more

Dr. Larry Wan is a great optometrist, but the whole operation is pretty excellent. Actually I am always surprised at how good the experience of getting an eye exam is at the Family Eyecare Center: -I am greeted with a smile and an enthusiastic hello (as if I dropped in weekly!) -The wait is never long--they keep their appointment times. -The exam is efficient with assistants moving me quickly through the process. -Check out is efficient and again a big smile. It's great having a whole office full of people who seem to really like their jobs--that says a lot about the people who run the Center. Much better than any other optometrist I've ever used. Ordered my glasses in August. Explicitly asked multiple times if the frame that I wanted is available. Was told that glasses will be ready in 3 week in worst case. Called a month later to ask the status - was told that it may take longer and that the responsible person will update me with the status.  Nobody returned the call. Mid Oct left a message- nobody returned a call. Called again two month after order - front desk can't provide any info. Promised that someone will contact me, but again no one did. Last time I contacted them this week, the same story. At this stage I do not believe I will ever get the glasses I paid for. Going to buy it again somewhere else. read more

Fantastic experience As this was the first day back from the lock-down, I was curious how the experience would be. The safety procedures were well thought out and well executed. They even described how they split the staff into two shifts to provide an extra layer of safety for their workers. The team, without exception, was very friendly and chatty. Dr. Tuan did an excellent job in describing the potential causes of my symptoms; she had a great bedside manner to calm any concerns and, finally; gave me a road-map of what to do next. Lastly, I was pleasantly surprised about the bill. I was expecting much higher. If you're nervous about going to the eye doctor during this time - with the Family Eyecare Center - you shouldn't be. read more

Terrible customer service. I got caught in an accident on Hamilton and 17 and was just over 10 min late to appointment and no phone call, nothing to say that they nixxed my appointment. I run into the office and they ask for my ID and insurance ... all that just to tell me we cancelled your appointment. And can't schedule me in till the new year. I sat through an accident and traffic to be told they couldn't help me. Wow, where did they learn customer service from? The same school as Comcast and AT&T? Just abysmal. read more

I have only nice things to say about Dr. Lum. However when i went to look at glasses, this place told me they would order me a new pair, not the one that was on display. When i went to pick up my glasses, i found out i was getting the one that was on display. I told them i wanted a brand new pair, not one that everyone tries on. They lied to me and told me that they had ordered a new pair and it will come next week. Well, its been almost a month and i have not heard back from them. This place is shady, they will sell u old stuff and tell you that it is new. If you are looking for glasses, do NOT come here. Thank you for the comment but I have no interest in coming back here.
