My boyfriend and I don't know much about champagne or wine but we wanted to have a champagne night. Danny assisted us and gave us samples of champagne. We decided to get Richebel thanks to Danny. He was so nice and answered all of our questions about champagne. We also got Borrasca sparkling wine. You can't go to Total Wine and not browse so we walked around and also sampled Nectar hard seltzer. They were refreshing. The vendor was so friendly and fun to talk to. David to the rescue again! Although it seems that all employees here are very adept at giving great recommendations for wines and spirits, David makes the absolute best suggestions for us. A couple weeks ago we bought some holidays gifts - wines and spirits. We were lucky that David was working that day and able to show us some fantastic bottles. Just opened one and spot on - delicious! A wonderful red wine that was to be a slightly less expensive, yet similar wine replacement for Justin Isosceles. All I can say is thanks, David! My SIL (who is in her 50s) brought her 16 year old son to buy "non alcoholic" Cream Soda (as this is the only place that sells this brand) but were not allowed to make the purchase unless they BOTH present an ID. I didn't know you need to be 21+ to buy cream soda. Also, the store policy clearly states a minor cannot enter the store UNLESS if accompanied by their legal guardian 21+. So what's the issue if the mom brought the minor child inside instead of making him wait in the car if she was willing to present HER ID? (Which she happily obliged for buying soda but they still wouldn't ring her up until my nephew showed his school ID). TBH, I've brought my own children to this location many times and I've always been able to just show my own ID to purchase wine so I'm not what the issue may be with their inconsistency. The employee that checked us out had no name tag on but he was a gentleman with long brown matted hair. Very disappointed. I came in around 6:30 today to get some vodka for a cocktail, however I had two other people with me. I felt profiled and the people with me did as well. I am a resident of Brea and I come to this total wine quite often and this has not ever happened to me before. The employee's name is Karla. Me and my younger brother both went into the store looking for some beer we eventually found it but when it was time to pay they asked me for my ID but I wasn't the one buying and I had left my wallet at home. I was asked if I had a photo of it which I tried to show one of the managers but he thought one minute of me searching for the photo was too long so he just took the beers and walked away, keep in mind there were other people there, husband and wife dads with children but me and my brother were the only ones who had that policy enforced on us. Total Wine & More has been a staple in this plaza for the longest time, but I am surprised it took me so long to venture inside. It is mostly due to living a bit further to this store, than to the nearest BevMo or Costco. Their website offers very convenient options of delivery, pickup, and shipping. Their prices are very competitive and I understand why people would shop here rather than BevMo. Upon entering the store, they offer sanitizing wipes for the carts, ready to use disinfectant cleaner, paper towels, and masks (for those who do not have a mask). I have not seen any other store this caring of their customers, and I really appreciate that. The parking for this plaza can get extremely packed, and it reminds me of why I also haven't frequented Total Wine as much. During COVID, it has slowed down in the plaza but one might still have to circle around, or park further away from the store. Thank goodness for shopping carts, and exercise of walking the carts back to the parking lot stalls. Prior to my visit, I had called the store because I was looking for a certain product. They picked up the phone right away and answered any questions that I had. Great customer service! I headed to the store after and purchased the items, after asking a store employee which aisle the products were located. A majority of the check stands were open and checkout was pretty quick. They ask if I wanted boxes for my items, and also if I had a membership card, which I did not. Signing up for a membership was pretty quick. Overall, a good first experience. The second visit, I had to exchange my previously bought products because I had brought the wrong sizes and it was certainly an interesting experience. It was my first time ever having to exchange something at this store, but did not think it would be too different than at other stores. Take your items to Customer Service and wait to be acknowledged, which took a few minutes, even though there were 3 people behind the counter. When I was finally acknowledged, I let them know my predicament and they took the shopping cart of the items I wanted to exchange and also my receipt. I needed a cart, but evidently, one has to go and grab another one. Which I found extremely odd. Wiped down another cart and proceeded into the store. Found my items and returned to Customer Service. After, they scanned my items and then refunded me the difference. Service was very curt and efficient. I was able to "cut" through Customer Service on my way out, as they had the previous customer do as well. Very interesting... While I was shopping, I noticed many store employees helping customers and answering any questions that they had. That is certainly very welcoming and helpful. Walked in looking for ice wine. Looked around to see if I could find them on my own. With no luck I walked to the front to ask for assistance. At the "help desk", I asked and was waved towards the back "go back and they're to the left". Mind you this is a warehouse of liquor, with wall to wall bottles and 20+ feet high shelves. So a missive wave and "back to the left" is of no help at all. While there probably are regulars that have memory mapped the entire average 40000+ sq/ft of the sales floor, I'm not one of them. It'd be kinda like my mom walking into Home Depot and asking for structural adhesive and being waved off towards lighting. She'd know that wasnt the right area and be like "why did I bother to ask". Here's a tip, you sell liquor, albeit on a voluminous scale. There are liquor stores, supermarkets and big box stores all vying for the same high margin liquor sale. Never mind online. And you're a customer facing brick and mortar. In this shrinking environment, you have exactly one moment/chance to make the sale. This should be a Zero star! I visited the store with my cousin (who I am the guarantor of ) she is 20 years old and when I checked out they did not let me because I was with someone under 21. That is fine. I went back home dropped her off and went back to the store, one of the gentlemen said they can't sell to me because I was with someone under 21 earlier and can't buy from them within 24 hours. I asked them if they can show me on their policy state something like "I can't buy from them within 24hours", they said the policy is at the front door, So went to the front door and ask if they can show me where it said that. He said we don't have it on there, go to the website and look up yourself or call customer service. I ask could you please show me where it on the website, he said "I don't know" and he refused to communicate with me. I think at his position, if he told me that i can't purchase, he should have know where it being stated and should have proof of policy as I requested. I did not want to mention who was that, but I hope they can treat customers better! Thanks for being mean, so I can save $50 on a bottle of Cordon Blue from ShopSK instead. Came here to look for Christmas gifts for friends and maybe because they have one cent wine tastings on Thursday/Friday. I could get lost here and have gotten lost here for 2 hours. The staff here are all laid back but helpful and the rows of alcohol have so many different bottles that look like art pieces that it feels a bit like a museum. I move from bottle to bottle reading more about it on the label or in the description on the display then marvel at some of these bottles. It's a great place to find guys and make friends at the almost free beer and wine tastings. One couple brought their own snacks and shared. I like alcohol as long as it doesnt burn my throat (Sorry, Scotch! You are out!) I was recently introduced to Mandala Extra Anejo tequila, and I absolutely loved its rich flavor, without the Alcohol aftertaste or smell. I decided to get a bottle (Or Two) for myself. I checked online and there were very few stores that sold Mandala, with this Total Wine being one of them. A quick query on their website even told me which aisle the Mandala was available in. So I headed out to this store located in a large shopping complex in Brea right off the 57 freeway. Parking was plentiful. As soon as I stepped into the store, I was shocked to see how busy the store was and how much variety they had in each liquor type. There were 3 registers open and all 3 of them had patrons waiting in a queue 4-5 long to be rung up. After the initial shock, I walked to the Tequila Aisle and a lady who was their Tequila expert assisted me with the purchase. Come to find out, each aisle had it's own expert that was helping patrons waiting in line to have their questions answered! My head started spinning looking at all the options, the detail to which staff was explaining the taste and origin of the spirits, and at the price tag on some of their featured spirits. There were tasting areas for beer, wine, etc. As I was browsing through the aisles, no fewer than half a dozen employees asked me with a smile on their face, if they could be of assistance! Nice! (+1) The stuff I had purchased was in locked display cabinets. So, staff brought those over to register 1. The Macallan is a gift to someone who appreciates Scotch. I stood in line, paid for the items and left the store a happy camper. I recommend this Total Wine destination for their huge liquor selections, astounding customer service, availability/inventory on rare spirits, and their promotions. read more

On the bright side they had the limoncello I was looking for, on the down side their customer service is horrible. I called ahead to not only make sure they were open during this lockdown but to see if they carried the brand I wanted. I spoke with a gentleman who initially said no it does not look like it is in stock but they had a different version. Then he proceeded with let me go check it looks like we only have one. He placed me on hold and when he came back to my excitement he said he actually did have the bottle I wanted and that there were three left. So I asked him to put one bottle on hold for me while I drove up to pick it up. He told me it would be waiting at the register. We go in to pick up at register 1 which is also the register next to customer service and since he didn't specify which one it was I assumed. We wait in line and when we finally get to the front the rude cashier lady said you have to get in line at register 6 for pick ups. This was my first time here...(and last) Please explain to me how in the world I would have known that!? There were no signs whatsoever stating that "pick ups" are at register 6 and the gentleman on the line did not specify that to me as well. So here we go to register 6, we wait in a long line, we get to the front and what do you think happens? They told us to go to register 1 where we JUST came from!! At this point I'm pretty irritated and said no I just came from there, she told me to come here. We went to customer service to ask and GUESS WHAT it was at register 1 the entire time. The lazy and rude cashier lady just didn't want to check behind her for the damn bottle. Honestly if this bottle wasn't so difficult to find I would have turned and left. This pickup should have taken 5 minutes or less and instead it took nearly 20 minutes. Moral of the story, don't order anything here over the phone. They are unorganized, don't communicate properly and have overall bad customer service. read more

Basically this is down the street from one of my bosses. Naturally this is my stop. Lots of parking but it does get ultra busy. Selection with sales is what keeps bringing me in.
