I had the hardest time trying to come up with a score for this company. I love that they have a huge selection overall and pretty good prices to boot. Walked into there around noon or so to buy some wine for an upcoming dinner event. Went searching around, I must have looked like a fish out of water, because a gentleman came over (shorter guy wearing a white shirt) and asked what I was looking for. I stated that I wasn't too sure other than I was looking for wine. He asked a few questions like "what type of food you are eating with?" and "what have you drank before?" and lead me on. We are trying out 2 Pinot Noirs and 1 Red Blended Wine. Oh, sweet, the trip is going well pretty good. But then it went down hill after that. As we went on our shopping, we passed a entertaining rant between 3 employees. One employee seemed like that they didn't really want to participate. One guy who was balls to the wall angry at another employee. It started out pretty innocent as the younger employee was being called out for not being able to find "beer on a F#@$'in shelf" and that "I don't need to be F#@!@'n doing your job." As we were walking a way we hear "F&ck This" and the angry guy burling by us. This was in the whiskey section where angry guy is on side yelling over the alcohol median to the other guy. In other words, it wasn't a quiet, private conversation. Finished up our shopping and checked out. Not sure if the cashier was paying attention, but said "have a good day" and was met with his back as he walked away. It is tough, because the store is so close with a wide variety of liquor but with that verbal exchange right in front of us. I may not go back there. We may have to explore a large liquor store that is down the street in the other direction (east vs west). read more

It's like a Costco, or at least a supermarket, of liquor. Prices seemed reasonable, and the selection is huge. I was having lunch nearby and stopped in to pick up a bottle of Colorado whiskey to bring to my cousin in PA who can't get it out there. There were some tastings going on, and there were plenty of staff who were eager to help. They are pretty knowledgeable about the products too. The "More" refers not just to non-wine booze, but to the snacks and tools and glasses and accessories they have. Makes the place pretty fun to browse. read more

If you need some last-minute suggestions, this is the place to go. We went on Thanksgiving day to get some sulfite-free wine so my mom could drink without getting a headache and some ciders for the rest of the family. We were helped as soon as we stepped foot in the door. They took us to their best recommendation for a sulfite-free wine. And we were shocked. This wine was only 17 bucks! They didn't try and take us to a costly wine right away. But many people know that just because a wine is more expensive, it doesn't mean it's better. So we got our wine, and then they took us to their cider selection. Boom, we were In and out in 10 minutes on Thanksgiving day. And our bank accounts didn't suffer. We love all total wine locations. They have the best customer service, the best selection of all alcohol, and incredible prices. Plus, their app and website are amazingly accurate. Total Wine & More is an awesome addition to the neighborhood. They have such a huge selection of whatever you are into. Beer? Got it. Craft Beer? Got it. Wine? Sprits? Liquor? Got it! I like coming here when I need to stock up for the house, they have a discounted rate when you buy 6 or more bottles of wine. During this time, I've been buying champagne by the case and Total Wine makes it much more cost effective to do so! PS: Borrasca Cava is delish and each bottle is under $10 with their pick six promotion! I cant tell you how much money I have saved by drinking booze at my home instead of dropping $11+ dollars on every drink out. A really big beer/wine/spirits store with a big selection. I had been hoping for my neighborhood liquor store to stock a particular bourbon I've been looking for. Bourbon is trendy and certain bottles can be hard to get. I found what I was looking for at Total Wine with no wait or difficulty. That stands in contrast to many of the local liquor store. Regarding that bottle of bourbon I was looking for, the local place told me that "you won't find that on the shelf here." That could mean a number of things if you believe the bourbon chatter. Well... I did find that bourbon at Total Wine! And it was relatively cheap. From what I can tell, if they have a product in stock, they will put it on the shelf. The staff are attentive, I really don't know how knowledgeable they are, but one of the wine area staff did coax the word "tempranillo" out of me with a commendable level of patience. Also, they have do have an interesting selection beers. Not necessarily better than the local places, but you'll find interesting stuff. I found a Miles Davis inspired beer called "*****es Brew". Look up Miles Davis' album of the same name, its incredible. Maybe the beer is as good as the album? Probably not. I'll still drop by my local liquor store as my first choice, but I will check Total Wine for those moments when I'm looking for something specific or unique. read more

As so many others say good selection and pricing, but the employees ruin the experience. I was rudely told to leave as I was selecting a whiskey at 9:56. They we walking through the isles telling everyone to get out, like some ghetto club at 2am. So instead of spending $100, I was pushed out and stopped at another store on the way home. Suggestion: If the staff wants everyone out of there right at 10, close at 9:45. Or act like respectful adults, lock the door at 10 and give people another 5 minutes to get what they came for. I have always had good luck at this store both on price and availability. However I recently went to buy Glendronach 12 Year single malt whisky. The posted price on the shelf was $59.99 which it has been for months. But when I went to check out they rang up $66.95. When I questioned the clerk he said they just haven't got around to changing the tag and refused to give me the lower posted price. I may be wrong but I thought this was against the law. So make sure Total is charging you correctly when you check out. read more

When my husband and I were new to Denver, we were kind of flailing around finding a great go-to wine shop. When Total Wine opened we were thrilled! First of all, the selection of wine is huge!! We have been branching out trying new wines and one of the reps (Mark) has helped us find new options numerous times (he's super knowledgeable and friendly - he's usually in the Old World Wines section). We have interacted with other reps in the wine department they've been great as well, but Mark is awesome if you want to learn about new stuff :) We did try to find our favorite sake once, and learned that they don't carry a big selection, so just an FYI if you are a sake lover. The prices are better than other wine stores we have been in Denver, so that's another plus. In addition, if you sign up for their free loyalty program, you get coupons via email, which are great. Plus they offer bulk discounts on certain wines. All in all, great deals are to be had! We used their in-store pick up once. It's efficient if you just want to get in and out. Our order was ready in like 30-ish minutes, so that was quicker than we expected (their window states it can take up to 2 hours for it to be ready). One piece of advice is that if they are out of a specific year of wine, they will replace it with another, so make sure you double check each bottle upon pick up if you don't want any substitutions. Also, I don't recommend buying cheeses here unless you give them a good once-over. We picked up one block (only once) and didn't notice it was moldy on the underside until we were at home and ready to dig in. They are great about returns, but just pointing that out in case that tip helps others. read more

If only I could give them no stars. Just spent an hour plus selecting a cart full of 4 dozen bottles of wine. Got to the checkout stand and they have no boxes to put the wine in and no one offers to solve the problem. Am I really going to load 48 bottles of wine in my car and let them roll around then try to figure out how to get them into my house? I spoke with the manager who you might have thought would say "let me get someone to find some boxes and I am sorry you just wasted an hour but we will get this solved". If only: he simply said that he had none and that it can happen on Sunday afternoons. And he was sorry... that was supposed to make be feel better I think; that he was sorry. Really? Has customer service really sunk to this level? What would have made me feel better is if he got off his rear end and solved the problem. read more

I'd really love to give other liquor stores a shot when I'm looking for a tasty beverage, however when a place like Total Wine exists, it's really hard to look elsewhere. Between better prices and a massive selection of any type of wine, spirit, and beer, it's hard to justify going anywhere else. To top this off, the staff there is very knowledgeable. Last time I was there, I asked for some help from Alex and he walked me through selecting the right type of whisky. After he explained to me what characteristics I should be looking for, he made a recommendation for something that I would have never picked on my own and it was genuinely the best bourbon I've had. With a quorum of all the things Total Wine has to offer, I don't see any reason to shop anywhere else. read more

I'm upgrading my previous review based on a recent customer service issue that was resolved impressively by the store manager. I've shopped at this location many times over the past several years and had always had a positive experience with the service and staff. I was in the store recently and all was well until I got to the checkout. I had several higher dollar items in my cart for the upcoming holidays. The cashier made a comment to me that seemed inappropriate and rubbed me the wrong way (in hindsight, I think she was just trying to be friendly and make conversation, but wasn't terribly successful). I shrugged it off and didn't think about it again until I got home and noticed on my receipt that she had also rung up one of my items twice. Great. I figured now I was going to have to make a special trip back to the store and try to get my money back. Then I received an email request a couple days later from Total Wine to complete a customer satisfaction survey. So I did and mentioned the cashier's comment and the overcharge. The next day the store manager called me and apologized and said he had already submitted a credit to my credit card for the overcharge and I wouldn't have to make a special trip to the store to resolve it. They do read your comments! Anyway, kudos to the store manager for making things right and for doing it so quickly. My experience that day didn't put me off from shopping there again or anything, but it's nice to see someone putting in the extra effort to make someone happy. read more

This place is FABULOUS. Like a wine and spirits Disneyland.       This location just opened at Evans and Colorado Blvd. It's mammoth, bright, and fun to explore. The selection is so vast it seems like the must carry everything. There is a section in the middle of the store with a ton of tiny taster-size bottles of different spirits. I got a couple just to try some things I've wondered about but never wanted to spring for a whole bottle of.       There are a lot of employees and they are really knowledgeable. They are also gracious and pleasant and they seem to enjoy what they do.      The prices are great. Their regular prices are cheaper than other places' sale prices and they have sale prices that make them even lower. I don't know if that will last, though. This is the grand opening and stores often open with competitive initial prices to bring in customers then later raise prices to the regular level. Sure they have great prices on SOME wines, definitely not all. My complaint comes because we decided to purchase 6 bottles of wine for the discount. However, we failed to see any signs that said some of these wines were excluded. We just figured if there was not a pick 6 price then that one wine will just not have a discount. WRONG! It means you get zero discounts on any of your wines if you pick one of these. When we asked the guy checking us out why the discount was not applied after he rung us up, he then explained this to us. He said he could void out our transaction but at that point there was a line and we felt pressured to move forward. For this reason, I feel bamboozled and will not return. First introduced to Total Wine in Ft. Lauderdale while visiting family there. Reminded me of a Costco with huge stocked aisles crammed with so many types of wines, beers and whiskeys and spirits. This store will be an unbelievably competitive fixture to liquor stores here in Denver and probably in other locations with the company's eventual expansion, in the end, the consumer will benefit with lower prices across the board. Great selection, good prices, incredibly rude staff. They give staff members vests, they should teach them basic customer service skills instead. My last few visits were far from enjoyable and I promised myself I'd never shop there again but I went today as I had a ton of stuff to buy for Christmas. After looking for a particular wine for a while, I asked a salesclerk if he knew where I could find Dreaming Tree Cabernet. He pointed down an aisle and replied, "On the other side of that pole" and kept walking. Well, there are five shelves and the pole is in the middle of the aisle, so, yeah, not helpful. I figured I'd just find it myself. I looked for a while and finally found the slot where it should be. It was empty but I saw a case on the storage shelf at the top of the display. Thinking they might want to sell me some, I foolishly ask another salesclerk if someone could get the case down. Big mistake. The guy's reaction was palpable and it was immediately apparent I had pissed him off. The only words he said were, "how many do you need?" He got the case down, handed me three bottles and walked off. The guy at the checkout rang me up, boxed my stuff and handed me a receipt. No thanks, no come again, nothing. I have been to the store 4 or 5 times and during only one visit did I have an experience that made me want to return. Maybe Denver's economy makes it tough to hire inspired people or maybe store management perpetuates a culture where customers are seen as a nuisance and should be treated as such. Their corporate office should send folks in to act as customers. I suspect there would be a slew of job openings shortly after. read more

This place is fantastic! They have amazing prices, best I've seen in town. I went recently as I received a grand opening flyer in the mail with a coupon for free glasses. I also received a free tote bag and bottle/wine opener when I checked out. They had a huge selection of wine and anything else alcoholic. They also had a trinkets section, a tasting center, a cigar humidor, a temperature controlled wine cellar, and an area where you can take classes and learn about wine, spirits, and beer. Unquestionably good prices and good selection on some items. So why the 2 stars? Customer service. It's not enough to say that there's no customer service at this location, as even indifference would be preferable to the attitude of this managerial staff at times. And it's not one person or one interaction, as either would be understandable. There's clearly a culture built here that makes it o.k. to vacillate between formulaic platitudes at their best and downright contempt for customer questions at their worst with a whole bunch of misinformation about their loyalty program sprinkled in for good measure. Case in point: I was recently checking out and was asked the standard "did you find everything alright today" to which in this instance I replied "no." 2 of the 3 things I was looking for weren't in stock which admittedly is unusual. Now the normal thing would be for this person to ask a few questions but no... too much to expect here. He just responded "oh"... not even a sorry. Just "oh." As for the loyalty program, you never seem to get the same story twice. One person will tell you one day that Grand Reserve members get access to specially allocated items, the next day another will tell you it's somehow against state law (this was my favorite tale), another responded with a simple "no" and yet another will tell you that they were going to make hard-to-find bottles available to Grand Reserve members but the pandemic has made it impossible this year with some promises that next year will be different. And all the while they make buying anything they deem hard to find as difficult as humanly possible and seem to enjoy the power a little too much. This place could have so much going for it with a customer-first attitude, consistent information and maybe even a few smiles. Until then, I'll give my local stores a few more dollars. read more

This place was a joke doing curbside pick up for an online order. A text was sent saying order was ready and that was all that was included in the text (besides order#). I arrived and the parking spots for pick up were full. I called and spoke to someone informing them I had arrived and that I was parked next to whatever spot # was beside me. I was told I needed to download the app to request delivery to the car. Nope, not going to happen and was in a rush. He said ok I will let them know but you have to park in a designated parking spot. Again, I said no, I am right beside spot (whatever the number was) and that the parking lot was nuts and couldn't pull out if I tried due to traffic behind me blocking me in. He asked what make of car and he'd notify staff. I waited for 15 min and watched everyone come and go with their orders. During this time I called back FIVE times and was disconnected each time. Still no one coming to my car. Finally got thru, explained situation to yet another staff who told me I needed to download an app. Nope, not going to happen, just please deliver my order as at this point I was the ONLY car parked in the pick up area. Someone came to window, asked if I had requested delivery thru app. Explained again for the 4th time giving the order number. What a total s#*t show this place is. I will NEVER darken the door of this place and would rather spend my money at a small business anyway and the only reason I didn't this day was because it was close proximity to where I was at the time with the hard to find item I wanted. I am so excited that there's a Total Wine in Denver!! I feel like a kid in a candy store every time I'm in one. If I remember correctly this one opened a couple of months ago. It's a decent size so there's a great selection, especially of seasonal beers. It can also be overwhelming which is why I greatly appreciate the staff. There's always someone around to ask where the Roscato is! I can definitely spend an hour or more just wandering around the aisles. They also carry some gifts and wine/alcohol related Knick knacks.
