I got the keratin treatment after i was told it was going to eliminate frizz and relax my curls. My experience has been awful. First my appointment was at 3:00pm, I showed up and they only started at 3:25pm after I kept asking them to start because i had another appointment later in the day. Seems like everything was rushed. My hair wash & the keratin treatment. After the keratin treatment is on your hair, they are supposed to use a straightening iron to lock it in, my stylist was taking big chunks of hair and only doing 1-2 passes. I had to ask her to go through parts over and over again that she missed. After the treatment, when I went back home my hair started to have weird dents and I contacted them right away, to which they said is normal and i should shower the day afterwards & it would be fine. Again i did so, and had weird dents over my hair. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I tried to reach out, they said they were off and someone would call me the next day. No one called. I had to reach out again, when i did they said to try using a blow dryer instead of air drying it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Following their instructions, i did so and now my hair is still frizzy and i lost my curls and only have weird dents. Updating my review because I still hate my hair after 6 months. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The hair stylist had poor communication, procedures, judgment, and skills.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I left the salon with a chunk of hair on the right side of my head that's randomly shorter up to my ears. It wasn't a smooth transition and it wasn't "bangs" because it's way too big chunk of hair. That chunk is still a chunk now. It's grown to around chin length but unless I cut all my hair to jaw length, I'm probably unable to smooth out that chunk for a few more months. And no I'm not interested in cutting to chin length. I've been dealing with that chunk of hair by putting my hair up in a half ponytail to keep the chunk part out of sight out of mind. Also I don't like how choppy it is overall. Sometimes I wake up and my hair looks like a Christmas tree just flailing in all directions. Reflecting back on the experience, many things went wrong. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I can forgive the part in the beginning about deciding what style to cut since I myself was quite clueless. Just because I ask for "A" doesn't mean there aren't different approaches and executions (e.g. different fonts for the same letters). wonderful place to feel pampered for a haircut without breaking the bank. as a vietnamese daughter of a cosmetologist i rarely have the privilege or burden (depend on how you look at it) to go out to get a haircut, but this place made the transition rather easy. found the place through a viral tiktok, called and made an appointment rather easily, the salon is in chinatown and is swanky, upscale, and bright. all the chairs are full of happy clients and the lobby has a plethora of well kept little plants and a large display of aveda hair products. the first time coupon trims off the total cost a little more, which is nice. they evaluate your hair length to give you a cost estimate. the ladies who do the shampoo do a heavenly job. my scalp felt sooooo clean, i got a wonderful massage, and the whole experience itself was super calming and relaxing. i would get my hair shampooed here every time i washed if i could afford it. haircut was an interesting process. there was a language barrier between me and my hair stylist so he ended up using his voice and google to translate our communication. i showed him a picture of what i wanted (moreso a butterfly cut) and he let me know how he could best try to help me achieve that. despite their being some obstacles in communicating, he knocked the haircut out of the park and kept me informed and updated all the way without being overbearing. i was lucky enough to not be blind sighted by hair being short, not getting what i wanted, etc due to the fact that he consistently checked in with me. i just let him do his ring and trusted his judgment, and he did me right! i felt like a fresh new person after my haircut and even stopped by the supermarket on my way home and got complimented by the deli guys there. i felt out of this world and a new woman! i feel like i can actually look forward to haircuts now due to this wonderful experience. excited to come back for a trim. just remember to tip your shampoo lady and hair stylist separately. read more

AVOID THIS SALON AT ALL COSTS! I had a complete nightmare experience here. What I got was an absolute disaster. After SIX HOURS in the chair, including four hours of bleaching, the reveal was horrifying. My blonde hair had been transformed into a green-tinted, baby-poop brown. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I expressed my shock, all I got were endless excuses and zero accountability.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Krystal said she could fix the problem, they decided to strip the brown color out of my hair and had me under the sink for over an hour. The result? - Breakage all over the top of my head. - weird pink-orange hue with obvious red tinged roots. - Severely dry and damaged hair that keeps breaking - Completely destroyed bangs that now make me look like I have a receding hairline. - My ends? Take a look at the cut. This is a dry cut from their "Master Stylist". It's so bad. I kept seeing this place on TikTok and finally decided to book an appointment. Like many, I was told it would be $60 over the phone, but once I showed up, they said it would be $80. However, if it's your first time, they offer a 15% discount, but if you pay by credit card, it goes down to 11%. I've been long overdue for a haircut, so I kind of get that they were trying to convince me to add on treatments since my hair is pretty dry (sigh, winter), but I didn't have the time and prefer not to do keratin treatments that have heavy chemicals. It was my first keratin treatment, and I'm very impressed with the results. I have frizzy and wavy hair that curls easily from weather conditions or not styling (see pictures). I wanted my hair to be straight and smooth. Crystal (the manager) clarified all my questions and Rose (the stylist) did a great job being attentive to detail. I had my lashes done and was worried about getting them wet during the wash but Rose was very careful not to. The treatment looked very smooth right after and remains so after washing & blow drying my hair. I called before arriving to make sure they could accept me on short notice (20 minutes). They said they could being it was a Tuesday late afternoon. The website says $50 for a shampoo and cut, but they told me that was for men's short hair. For my long hair its $70 but includes taxes. I decided I needed a hair cut that much I was willing to pay especially if they offer great service for the wash and the cut. The wash itself is so relaxing. You really can't beat the wash and scalp care and massage from Chinese hair salons. Kelly cut my hair wonderfully and added layers to make it easier for me to toss my bangs and give my hair some volume. For all this I accept paying $100 including tips for. Found this place through Groupon for keratin treatment. Place is clean and comfy, people I had interactions with were nice. Except the older front desk lady with fake eyelash and front bang. The way she talks is bossy and quite annoying, probably is a manager or owner. She could definitely be nicer when speaking. First when I called to schedule an appointment, they said that the haircut and shampoo was $60 but when I arrived they said it was $80. The hairstylist, Jason, did not speak much English which was fine because he seemed to understand what I was asking which was to cut my long hair to mid length with very little layers. After he blowdried my hair, he did not go back in to thin out the bottoms or fix any uneven parts. He also didn't show me the back of my head with a mirror which I thought is the standard practice. He lightly curled my hair which didn't allow me to see what a mess it was. After going home and showering, I was pissed to see how badd the haircut is. I liked my hair cut (Ricky is very attentive and kind) but they use formaldehyde in their keratin treatments and did not disclose this to me when I asked them explicitly. I made an appointment to get a magic straight treatment done and pivoted to keratin, but before I confirmed, I asked the front desk four separate times if they use formaldehyde in their treatment. She said no, but when I started my treatment, I noticed a very strong chemical smell and asked the hair dresser if their products have formaldehyde. They said yes, which is why they all wear masks and have a strong vent going. I really appreciated her transparency, but I did not appreciate being lied to initially! I wouldn't have done the treatment if I had known that there is formaldehyde in the product. But their prices are really great and Ricky is very careful with cutting hair - I would come back for a haircut, but probably not other treatments. My jaw dropped. I asked for long layers and basically half of my hair was cut into a Bob. I've never seen anything like it in my life. I'm not sure if Milk has ever cut thick hair or layers before. There was no blending. I have been getting professional hair cuts my whole life and this is by far - the WORST cut I've ever received. Mistakes happen, and it's just hair, but I wish Milk admitted to not knowing how to do the cut what I asked for / maybe does not have experience with thick hair instead of going for it.
