True story: I went to Touch N Glow for the first time when I was signing a lease to live like a block and a half from here. I was happy with my thread and underarm wax. They gave me a frequent customer card (You know - Buy 8 threads get 1 free or some crap). Anyway later that day, I was walking in the Village and bought a coffee somewhere and saw my card. I started humming The Cars song "Touch and Go." Three minutes later, I ran into Ric Ocasek (lead singer of the Cars) on 9th St. Needless to say, I like Touch N Glow. the threaders are good and their waxes are efficient and painless. Don't get me wrong: not about to get the full monty wax here. But for underarm and simple stuff they're ok. I got something like 20% off for a summer special. Maybe I'll sing a different tune once summer is over. But all in all, best place in neighborhood for the eyebrows. I will say this...it gets BUSY in afternoons because for some reason they have like one person working the threads. read more

Stay away. I have no idea what has happened to this place besides the fact that I walked out today with a fucked up eyebrow. Like I said in my previous review I have a lot of eyebrow so I can tell when untouched hairs were being removed. This broads offered the "come back and let it grow out" line. Are you serious? At least attempt to make it even. So rude, and they just went on to the next person in line. Don't be fooled by the line or the price anymore I have completely lost trust in this place, the service is shit and the quality matches. I let the service slide a few times and have asked repeatedly after each threading to go back and clean up what was missed but this my friends.... Can't be fixed. My experience is limited to application of false eyelashes. These are advertised as individuals but are really the flares - 4-6 lashes in a small clump. The problem is the adhesive. They used something like crazy glue on my lashes!!! I had this done on New Year's eve and there are still clumps of this stuff on my lashes 6 weeks later and after trying eyelash adhesive remover. The service was very inexpensive which should have been a warning. The technician was very gentle and seemed to know what she was doing. My lashes looked great that night and afterward but they became uncomfortable as my lashes began to grow. Sad outcome - many of my own lashes (which were pretty long to begin with) have come out with the clumps of false eyelash. Now I actually feel that I need false eyelashes instead of wanting them just for the special occasion. I'll be sure to investigate thoroughly before allowing anybody else near my eyelashes! I would give them 1 star, but from what I saw, it looked like they were able to do just fine with eyebrows. But skip the false eyelashes at all costs! read more

Eyebrows threading that's a gamble. One of the girls is amazing and I thought I finally found a good place, then a month later another girl did my eyebrows and she messed them up so bad. I guess I should find out the name of the girl that did them right and stick to just getting them done by her. For now, beware because you might have great eyebrows or you might end up with messed up ones depending on who does them. read more

I went with my friend and were out in no time. The place is clean, the staff is courteous, professional, and the price is right. Came here once to get my eyebrows done. I left the place with one eyebrow thicker and had an higher arch then the other. HORRIBLE! Recently I decided to give this place another chance and got a Brazilian wax. BAD Idea. I left the place in pain which is weird since I've been getting waxed for 2 years now. I have been coming here just about weekly for three years and I love it. t's not even in my neighborhood - I tried almost every place from 96th to Hamilton Heights and this is the best. The customer service is great and prices are low. All the women who have threaded me have listened and shaped things according to my specific requests. If there was a spot left, I checked and they fixed it right away. Because this place is popular, you can avoid the rush by going Mon-Th after 5pm or during a weekday (schedule permitting), and early on weekends. I can't recommend it highly enough. I also keep going for non-eyebrow threading, and have asked here and there for tiny eyebrow touch-ups (as I grow them out after years of over-plucking on my part), which they have done for free. Like any beauty service, be specific and descriptive with what you want, and here, you'll get exactly that. read more

Someone said it best in the reviews "eyebrow threading is a gamble". Totally agree, finding someone who does your eyebrows is tough. But once you do, its a godsend. Your eyebrows will be looking great all the time. I stumbled on the place one day walking to the train and decided to check it out. I remember looking at the eyebrows of the woman who approached me (Sassi) and her eyebrows had great definition. I told her I wanted my brows with a clean definition to complement my eye shape. I know, sounds strange and picky, but I wasn't naturally blessed with thick full eyebrows and have had some bad experiences in the past. All I need is a clean up with some shape, not too much work. Back to my story...She stepped closer to me looked at my eyebrow and said okay. After threading my first eyebrow, she brought a mirror and asked me if this was what I was looking for. I was more than pleased and she began threading away the other brow. She recommended I use caster oil to help my growth and to go to her in every 7 days to maintain my shape. Since then I go to her every 7-10 days. I've been very happy with the ways he has maintained my brows. The thread/waxers here vary. I used to come here for a 20-something girl who would take an hour to give me the closest and least painful face wax in the entire world. However, she's gone, and an older Indian woman is waxing now. The wax wasn't painful at all! She was very rough with me, though, when she was moving my head back and forth or turning the chair. If I was going somewhere to get my bikini waxed, I wouldn't come here for that reason. However, the wax itself was close to painless, and it's a pretty good outcome. The ladies aren't the nicest.. They commented on how hairy I am and tried to sell me an arm wax. Kind of insulting, but it's also their job. I don't know how I feel about it. I'll keep coming back, because it's hard to find a place that doesn't rip off skin when they wax, but I'll just make sure to ignore their comments when I do. read more

Definitely a fan!! A very picky person I was looking for a really good place especially for my eyebrows which had been messed up ample times. Many places though left me disappointed. I found "Touch and Glow" as I was passing by and gave it a shot. Now, it's been a little more than a year i get my eyebrows done and also many other services religiously. Apart from the excellent service they provide, the place is so clean and the staff clearly know what they are doing. Stay away! They butchered my eyebrows today! I'm missing a third of my right eyebrow in the center of it! It's visible from a distance, not to mention when you get closer to my face! I also have a painful burn on my right eyelid from wax that was too hot. I heard stories like this before, but never thought it would happen to me. It did. And there is nothing that I can do. When I complained, the girl who did this said:"it was like this" implying that I was lying! Scandalous! And then the owner said: "they will grow back in a few weeks" I'm speechless! Avoid this place. Those threading do not always wash hands between customers, the lighting is poor and consistently hairs and spots are missed. Often thread roughly causing skin irritation. This used to be my favorite place for brows. Not anymore. Stay away. New staff is unprofessional, rude and does not wash hands after going to bathroom or between clients. Left my brows uneven and women that do brows tend to bad mouth clients in various languages as they do their brows. The prices are not fixed but rather clients are charged extras called "tax" which varies on how much the women working there want to charge. I was having my brows done when one of the women that does the brows was yelling at a customer loudly and rudely (after customer had paid for service rendered, and gave her tip) - told her she did not "tip enough that tipping was generally 35% and not to bother coming back as neither she nor other girls would do her brows again if she did not tip 35% or more." Client was polite even as employee continued rambling. Also do not get hair done there, especially w Evelyn. She has no idea what she is doing and then tries to charge customers triple the price to fix her own mistakes. read more

Let me start off by saying that Shamaila is the only person worth going to for eyebrow/face threading. Every time I let someone else there near my eyebrows, I really regret it. Really! The A-OK rating above only applies if you are seeing her! She is the only person I trust with my brows and threading, but I advise skipping the whole place if you are going full monty or something--prices are low, but so is the quality of the job. The ladies try to do a good job with the waxing but every time I get home from a waxing trip there I notice patches of hair that were skipped/missed. Good if you are just looking for a wintertime wax (I never shave--too many ingrowns) but in the summer or before a beach vacation or major event I think it's worth it to spend the extra bucks and go elsewhere. If you can get the aforementioned tech to do the waxing, she will go back for stray hairs with the threading--which is really nice of her, but is also time consuming for both of you. I can't emphasize enough how little I trust everyone else there, though. read more

Whatever you do don't tin your eyebrows here. Don't do it please your gonna end up looking just as stupid as me right now and I can't wait till it goes away. First off their threading is amazing for 6$ who can go wrong it's good. Rose is the best at threading you'd be an idiot to go to anyone else because her eyebrows are always so nice. Do not I repeat do not tint them here unless you really need eyebrows you don't need it your going to regret it . I don't remember the woman who did my eyebrows name was but she was being so lazy!!! she literally put the tint on and disappeared and I had the tint on for about 4 minutes which is way to long and they came out way to dark I did tint before and the lady had only left it on for 2 minutes because she said it gets to dark. Unless you want extremely dark brows done tint her . And let me not forget how sloppy and uneven the tint came out . Please don't tint here just wax and thread and save the 15$ on the tint . They don't care how dark your brows come out or anything unless you repeat it to them to listen . read more
